The Note: Scare Tactics from McCain, Palin
October 24, 2008 8:44 AM
ABC News' Rick Klein reports in Friday's Note:
Which represents the biggest threat to Sen. John McCain?
His running mate . . .
His staff . . .
Elites . . .
Wallets . . .
The fact that Sen. Barack Obama will get MORE coverage while far from any battleground state . . .
An ad environment that’s past the saturation point (or is that a good thing?) . . .
Read the rest of The Note -- and get all the latest on the 2008 election, Congress, the White House and the wide world of politics every day -- from Rick Klein by bookmarking this link.
McCain won’t have Obama money to put behind it -- but the message in his latest ad is as sharp as they come, and as sharp as he’s likely to get (and hits while Obama is visiting grandma, no less).
We hear Sen. Joe Biden’s words, and we see tanks, ships, marching terrorists, Chavez, Ahmadinejad -- then a cut to black: “It doesn't have to happen. Vote McCain.” (It’s 3 am, and we think we’re meant to smell daisies.)
There’s not far to go beyond this -- and plenty of questions about whether this is too late, if not too little, or too irrelevant (Dow futures down 550 points Friday morning).
We’re about to find out if there’s a way to still frighten voters about Obama (and between taxes, experiences, and national security -- McCain hopes there are many ways). If nothing else, the new tack scratches an itch in the party base -- but McCain needs it to do more than that at this stage.
Friday brings a new message from Gov. Sarah Palin, too -- her first policy speech of the campaign (!), calling for greater support for special-needs children (and attacking Obama on taxes). (A better story to tell than her “Troopergate” deposition Friday.)
Plus -- pushback on the clothing story: “That is not who we are. . . . That whole thing is just, bad!” Palin tells the Chicago Tribune’s Jill Zuckman. “Oh, if people only knew how frugal we are.”
Zuckman: “ ‘It's kind of painful to be criticized for something when all the facts are not out there and are not reported,’ said Palin, saying the clothes are not worth $150,000 and were bought for the Republican National Convention. Still, she has been wearing pricey clothes at campaign events this fall. She said they will be given back, auctioned off or sent to charity. Most of them, she said, haven't even left the belly of her campaign plane.”

Funny, that's how most Americans feel about her ill-informed attacks on Obama.

Biggest threat is the UNFAIR MEDIA. ABC is included in the list of media pulling for obama/mo/biden.

Funny that's how most people feel about Obama with the media not reporting all the facts and covering up for him. Spoon feeding what they want people to know with their biased reporting.
Get the facts people, do the research, the information is out there should you choose to educate yourselves rather than keep your head in the sand.
Lets not "spread the wealth", Lets not spend spend spend like the Obama campaign is doing right now, clothes are nothing compared the the 2 million being spent on his election night party.

Why is it presumed that a former junior level Navy officer that was taken prisoner in a war that took place over 30 years ago would not be tested by our enemies? Saying you know how to win wars isn't the same as having won wars and neither of these guys has had to make a decision to take us into or attempt to avoid war. One has supported the most ill-advised intervention since the Spanish American War and is known for his hot temper and "from the gut" decision making. Is this the candidate or given their record the party that ouht to be raising questions about who will exercise mature judgment? It seems to me that our foreign policy for at least the last 8 years has been based on a dangerous mix of wishful thinking and a firm belief that all our enemies are stupid or deranged or both.

Maybe if McCain/Palin would have run a clean campaign the media wouldn't be so negative in their coverage.

ACORN voter fraud?

HH.....unlike the MCCain camp spending their contributors hard earned money on Palins new wardrobe. I am sure that the money spent partying on election night after Obama becomes President, will be well worth it in his contributors eyes.
We may have our heads in the sand, but get yours out of your @ss! If you come out for air sometimes, you just might get a clearer sense of things.

WHY DOESN'T SARAH PALIN want to be 'labeled' a feminist? (Labels like 'socialist' are just fine, right?)
Maybe the real reason is that John McCain has made a career out of voting against women.
Suppose a woman found out, after a lifetime of working for a company, that she had been intentionally discriminated against by her employer all that time.
That would be illegal.
Now suppose she went to court, which is where we settle our disputes instead of using a six-shooter, to ask for justice and she PROVED her case and PROVED that the discrimination was intentional and PROVED that this had been going on for 30 years. And she won her case.
BUT THAT same company, the one that intentionally discriminated against her for 30 years, takes it to the highly political U.S. Supreme Court. And that court ruled, 5-4, that this southern lady was NOT ENTITLED to sue.
Their reason? It had been 30 years since the FIRST discriminatory paycheck!
That's right, if she had somehow discovered within 6 MONTHS of her first discriminatory paycheck and sued, that would be fine. But having not been shown the SECRET list of salaries, she did not know and did not sue. SO CASE DISMISSED!
Democrats in the Congress know right from wrong. So they attempted to pass a law whose only purpose was to overturn the Supreme Court's erroneous decision and RETURN THE LAW to it's previous interpretation.
Barack Obama voted FOR the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
John McCain SUPPORTED the low life Republican filibuster.
UNDERSTAND, more that 50 of the 100 members of the Senate supported Lilly Ledbetter. But the Republicans WOULD NOT allow it to come to a vote.
This should be sufficient reason, by itself to throw every single Republican out of Congress. And of course, John McCain doesn't deserve to be either Senator or President. Period.

"Biggest threat is the UNFAIR MEDIA. ABC is included in the list of media pulling for obama/mo/biden."--------------------------------------
The Media will favor whoever makes the most sense and runs the LEAST NEGATIVE campaign. I for one am glad they do,("if that's what they do?") Backing candidates that are making little sense and attracting negative crowds would not be good for America or the World OR for business.

Eleven more days to go.
Everyone, get out and vote early. Make sure your vote is counted. Don't get stuck on the 4th in line. VOTE EARLY TODAY.

It's funny the right thinks the media never prints the truth but they will believe anything that a crackpot writes on the internet. No investigation, no documentation just something that some nut writes.
It looks like that McCain and Palin are starting to believe their own lies and untruths.
Even in Seattle there's a nut who has filed a suit to get Obama's name off the ballot saying he's not a citizen. When it's thrown out I hope they bill this guy for the expense he's caused.
I must admit, I do enjoy watching the republican party implode. Have any of you watched the interaction between McCain and Palin? There's no love lost there.
Obama for President in 08 and 12. Yea!

SOMEBODY ASK Sarah Palin:
Which candidate is mostly concerned with the middle class?
ANSWER: That would be Barack Obama, who has proposed taking back the Bush tax cut, which John McCain called unconsciousable and tilted in favor of the most wealthy and voted against, and use that money to give a break to middle class Americans making less than $250,000 a year.
Somebody ask Sarah Palin:
What is Socialism, anyways?
ANSWER: Socialism is where the state takes ownership of private companies, something that no Republican or Democrat has suggested!

geevill- I think there was a he11 of a lot more VOTER FRAUD in the last 2 elections!
Posted by: Redneck4Reason | Oct 24, 2008 9:20:05 AM
Hey "geevill" - forget about ACORN voter fraud - which has proven to be negligible. How about voter suppression - hundreds of thousands of eligible voters being stricken from voting lists? Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wrote an article about this that is stunning. The noise about ACORN is another distraction - meanwhile Republican operatives are working hard to steal ANOTHER election - like they did in Florida in 2000, and Ohio in '04.
Meanwhile, Palin is making herself into even more of a joke. The clothes aren't actually worth 150,000 dollars? Really? The receipts say they are? Are reporters just making these numbers up, Palin, or are you lying again? "That's not who we are" Palin says, about the clothing scandal. Words - but they don't mean anything. Palin wants to think that what she says matters more than reality, but the reality is her "hockey mom" image is meant to appeal to the middle class voters McCain needs and is losing. In reality, the Palins net worth is well over a million, they own several properties, a plane, a boat, and now 150,000 worth of clothing - more than Joe the Plumber will spend on clothes for his whole family, in his whole life.

This is always one of the last plays the GOP makes in any election.
They are running out of options, so they go to base attacks like this.
"If you vote for Obama, you will die!" is all they have left to throw.
Nov. 4th can't come soon enough!
