ABC News' Vija Udenans Reports: The 20-foot White House Christmas tree arrived by a 2-horse drawn carriage at the North Portico of the White House and was met by First Lady Laura Bush Sunday afternoon .

The official White House Christmas tree will be decorated and displayed in the Blue Room with decorations provided by artists around the country.

Mrs. Bush, wearing a red coat and holding an umbrella, said that while this is the first event of the season, she would reveal the theme of this year's decorations on Wednesday .

The North Carolina grown Fraser fir was selected by the chief usher in October from River Ridge Tree Farms in Creston, North Carolina; This being the 11th time the blue room Christmas tree has come from North Carolina.

President Bush did not venture out in the rainy weather to see the arrival, but his spokesperson said "he’s looking forward to the holidays".

The National Christmas Tree Association has presented a tree to the White House every year since 1966, when Lyndon Johnson was president.

Merry Christmas President Bush and first family your last one as President. Sometimes one does not appreciate a President until someone worse comes along and maybe in the very distant future there will come a president who will make historians remember your presidency with nostalgia. But for now the country and the world can rejoice in the knowledge that we have a great President elect and at least there are term limits on the President of United States. One lesson the nation can learn from you President Bush is to be thick skinned and at least we are assured that if the whole country goes through difficulties, you are personally undeterred and unnerved. Happy future.

I shall miss the grace and strength of our First Lady, Laura Bush.
She was a model for all our young women and for wives everywhere. She was the presidents strength in time of great need....
We will not see a lady so gracious and lovely as Laura is, any time soon.

The 1 thing besides death and taxes that we always can count on is change. For better or worse we'll all find out. Guess it can't get much worse. But then again, it could.

To President and Mrs. Bush,

I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and thank you for your service as president. The White House has been graced for the past 8 years w/ personal fortitude and a loving embrace for our country.
While you may not be remembered for always doing the right thing, or the popular thing, you were strong in your convictions and Mrs. Bush, you are a woman of immense grace and intelligence. Thank you both.

‘Tis the season for great bargains, including in government! Instead of paying full price for Hope and Change, the incoming Barack Obama administration plans on knocking off 63%. That’s the number of Clinton officials in the transition team:

As the Obama transition team reviews the federal government’s network of agencies, President Bill Clinton’s appointees and staffers are playing a major role.
Just how big? At least 85 of the 135-odd members of President-elect Barack Obama’s agency review teams served in the Clinton administration, a Washington Wire count shows.

That’s nearly two-thirds of the members of the working groups reviewing agency issues, and the Clinton resurrection has not gone unnoticed. “Here’s how you can tell the campaign is over and done with,” wrote Ben Smith and Carrie Budoff Brown in Politico. “Clintonistas are everywhere.”

The quality of change is even more strained within that 63% of rehires. Easha Anand notes that several of them are in charge of their former policy areas, which makes some sense — if you don’t want change but a return to the Clinton Era. Washington can be an insular town, but surely Obama could have found other people with FRESH IDEAS for the future.
