ABC News' Tahman Bradley, Rigel Anderson and Arnab Datta Report:

While Sen. Barack Obama's late grandmother Madelyn Dunham will not live to see the outcome of this historic election, her 2008 vote will count.

Hawaii Chief Elections Officer Kevin Cronin told ABC News this evening that the absentee ballot cast by Dunham before she passed away will count. Cronin said Dunham's absentee ballot was received on October 27 and found to meet the requirements of a valid absentee ballot and will therefore be counted with the rest of the state's ballots tomorrow.

Obama learned that his grandmother lost her battle with cancer early Monday. She was 86.

Thank goodness. That would have been horrible if they didn't. My prayers go out to Obama and his family.

This is wonderful news, indeed. Obama's grandmother is supporting him even in death.

May Obama secure a crushing and decisive victory tomorrow.

So what? The CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE has reported to the Federal Elections Commission that Obama BROKE THE LAW.

HE TOOK A CAMPAIGN AIRPLANE TO VISIT HER IN HAWAII.

I'm sure our fiends at Faux News will be blasting this tomorrow morning.

You may have read that the California GOP has filed a complaint against Obama for visiting his grandmother.

Apparently since he didn't campaign there, he should not have used his campaign plane.

If you donated to his campaign, and are okay with him spending your money on visting his Grandma, email the FEC.

The Republicans will be crying voter fraud.

God Bless sweet little "Toot". She raised such a good man, and accomplished so much in her life. When I cast my vote for Obama tomorrow, I will take a moment to think of her and all that her sacrifice has given to this country.

Shut up, Tom, at 8:52:01 PM. Have some respect. I know that it's a lost art among the mobs of frightened Republican, crying Marxist, Socialist, Muslim, etc, but have you no shame? Apparently not. Get a life, fool!

Well, I don't know how long Hawaii allows for the filing of a death certificate, but presumably without this, any sort of official challenge cannot be made.

Good grief, Tom. Get a grip.

After all, did John McCain fly coach to Washington when he "suspended" his campaign?

Posted by: willia713 | Nov 3, 2008 9:02:24 PM

Tom - His grandmother was dying. Why would it matter if he took a campaign airplane to visit her in Hawaii? Give the guy a break. At least he was able to see her before she died. I personally like Obama but I'm way more conservative. McCain has my vote but I've been afraid to tell anyone because everytime I have I've been accused of racism or been given a lecture on why I should not vote for McCain. So I continue to tell everyone I'm undecided or that I might vote for Obama even though I don't have any intention of voting for him. The other day I witnessed one woman mention to another that she liked Sarah Palin and could relate to her being an involved Mom like herself and she told the "Obama supporter" that she was voting for McCain. The Obama supporter went on to lecture the McCain supporter and by the time she was done the McCain supporter looked as though she was about to cry. I felt so bad for her but didn't dare to say anything for fear of being receiving the same lecture from the Obama supporter. I know that I'm not the only McCain supporter who is holding back revealing my vote. I'm not blaming Obama for this at all, I'm blaming the media and particular supporters.

This is a good thing. So sorry to hear of the loss of the Senator's Grandmother.

Posted by: Gail in SC | Nov 3, 2008 9:05:13 PM

who'd she vote for?

Posted by: sam | Nov 3, 2008 9:06:13 PM

My relatives in Florida let me know that the GOP filed a suit against Obama for using his plane to visit his grandmother - they filed it today, the day his grandmother died.

This is going viral in Florida - people think filing the suit today is downright mean and some say indecent.

They remember Palin attacking Biden while he was burying his mother-in-law
and the very nasty comments about Barack going 'off to see his grannie 'that the Mccain campaign mocked him with when he went to her bedside.

I think it's all coming home to roost for the McCain campaign.

Who paid for McCain's helicopter to fly to N.Y. for David Letterman after the flight was delayed?

Posted by: deli | Nov 3, 2008 9:07:03 PM

Well Tom,

what a paragon on virtue you are. "So What?"

This is exactly the type of comment that makes the rest of the world think that Americans are awful, terrible, ignorant people.

I feel sorry for your countrymen who get tarred with the brush that really belongs to you.
