Child's Remains Found Near Missing Girl's Grandparents' Home
December 11, 2008 11:51 AM
ABC News' Scott Michels and Lee Ferran report: The remains of a young child were discovered Thursday morning in a wooded area near the home of missing toddler Caylee Anthony's grandparents, ABC News has learned.
A child's skull was found by a utility worker who alerted authorities, according to officials from the Orange County Sheriff's office in Florida. While the identity of the remains are unclear, the proximity of its discovery to the grandparents' home has drawn growing attention from the media and law enforcement officials intent on solving the vexing case.
The child's disappearance has drawn national attention, since she went missing in June. Her mother, Casey Anthony, did not report the child missing until a month later and has been charged for the young girl's murder. Earlier this year, the child's picture appeared on the cover of People magazine.
Suspicion has grown around 22-year-old single mother Casey Anthony since she was arrested on charges including child neglect just a day after reporting her daughter missing. She remains in custody.
Casey Anthony became a person of interest to police after they found traces of chloroform and strands of hair similar to the young girl's in a car last used by Casey Anthony.
Police officially charged Casey Anthony with murder on Oct. 14.
A massive search effort drew thousands of volunteers from across the country but has been, as of yet, unsuccessful.

I pray to God they've found this precious angel and she can be laid to rest and the person responsible can pay for this horrific crime.

FINALLY.
Hopefully the testing will be completed VERY quickly and this poor excuse for a mother can rot in jail.

While this is an extremly sad situation, and i would hope that the child is alive and well some where, the odds of that happening are slim. If it is her, i am glad that she has been found so she may be put to rest.

This is unbelievable! 1/10 of a mile from the home? Did anyone ever look in the neighborhood? Sounds to crazy to be real.....

It has to be Caylee - it's too close to the grandparents house to be a coincidence. Poor baby girl.

If they have, in fact, found this precious little girl, and her mother is found guilty of her murder, she should be sentenced to death with no chance of appeal, and the sentence should be carried out ASAP. God bless Caylee's precious heart and soul.

I have been watching The Nancy Grace Show & the Larry King Show, about little Caylee Anthony. I believe that from the findings in her mom's car that Caylee is deceased. My heart really goes out to Caylee's grandparents. As a result of this nightmare they have not only lost a granddaughter but they have also lost their daughter. I will pray for their entire family because if the remains found this morning near their home are the remains of little Caylee, their hearts will surely be crushed.

I hope the grandparents realize they have been complete idiots..ignoring all the evidence they have.
This poor baby. I hope the mother gets what she gave.

ROT IN JAIL?!? Screw that, we taxpayers have to pay for that. They need to fry her butt and be done with it!

While I do not want to convict Casey before due process, I felf in my gut her stories were completing fabricated. I have followed this story as it has unfolded in local and national media. Remember when Casey kept saying, I know she is close by? I can feel it in gut." Well I guess we know where Caylee has been all of these long months don't we! Pray for Casey's soul and for the many years of help she will need.

I pray that this ends the search and this baby can be laid to rest. AND, I pray that whoever committed this atrocity is held accountable.

I've been praying that child would be found. I hope, it is confirmed to be Caylee, they decide to charge her with murder and when they give her a lethal injection, they should turn around and give one to Cindy Anthony too. All along in jail, Casey has been saying on the phone to her parents "I feel Caylee is close by" Well she was saying where Caylee was right at that time. Cindy and Casey are two sociopathic pathological liars. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Cindy ought to be ashamed forever for not holding Casey accountable and babying her. It's disgusting. And George Anthony is a wuss in that family. Some former detective. Somebody better look into the cases he was involved with - I wonder about his abilities.

I agree, this is unbelievable.... I pray that if this is the little sweet baby that whoever did this is punished. I believe that the mother has something to do with it and I believe that the grandmother know something or had something to do with it also...

Its such a horrible situation. I pray for all those involved. Especially for those who really know what happened and have never come forward for the sake of this innocent, beautiful little angel.

Even if it's not Casey, it's still a missing child!!!! In any case, I hope that some family will find closure and justice will be served.

Unfortunately, tax payers also have to pay for the appeals, court battles, lawyers, etc when a death penalty is sentanced. We'd be spending more on her death sentance than we would on her life sentance.
In this situation, I hope to god that she is sentanced to double life terms w/o parole, and held in a place where she can get all the attention she seems to have wanted - inmates don't take kindly to child murderers.

Sickness, I hope it is over. When are we going to have an end to mothers killing their precious little children? Happens way too often. Hit the mother over the head with a shovel and bury her too.

Great now this will be on nacy grace all night

I have nothing but sympathy for the grandparents. Bless them for holding out hope, whether misguided or not, they obviously love their daughter and grand daughter very much.
As for Casey, if she is guilty she should be giving the maximum penalty allowed. This mother needs help! My prayers go out to everyone that this has touched.
