Hillary Clinton at Foggy Bottom
December 08, 2008 1:17 PM
ABC News' Kirit Radia and Richard Coolidge Report: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, made her first trip to the State Department today since being tapped by President-elect Barack Obama to be his Secretary of State.
State Department officials say Clinton is at Foggy Bottom to meet with the Obama transition team, which has been operating out of 5,300 square-foot of office space inside the State Department since shortly after election day.
Also said to be visiting the State Department to meet with transition staff today was Susan Rice, Obama's pick for Ambassador to the United Nations. The current U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Zalmay Khalilzad, was seen in Washington this morning after a speaking engagement over the weekend, but his spokeswoman did not know if he met with Rice.
Clinton is expected to have dinner this evening with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at Rice's Watergate apartment, according to a senior State Department official who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because the meeting had not yet taken place.
Rice told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos yesterday that she thinks Clinton is a good pick.
"She's terrific," Rice said, "I have known her for a long time, ever since she brought her freshman daughter to Stanford when I was provost at Sanford. I think she's going to be terrific."
"Hillary Clinton is someone of intelligence and she'll do a great job. She also has what's most important to be Secretary of State, and that is that you love this country and you represent it from the basic of faith in it's values, and I know that she will do that," Rice added.

Typical Rice--always with such class, unlike her Dem counterparts who have no shame.

Could Condi be angling to stay on in a Hillary-led State Department?

I agree She did the job
that Bush wanted. The
fact that it was a dis-
aster is irrelevant.

Hillary Clinton will be an excellent Sec. of State - of course she would have been an excellent President too.
