He Went Back So His Wife Wouldn't Have To
April 14, 2008 9:52 AM
Tucked in the B section of Saturday's WASHINGTON POST was a small article by reporter Kristen Mack. Mack told the story of 28 year old Sgt. Jesse A. Ault, recently married, with a 4 month old daughter. According to the article Ault joined the army before high school graduation, spent 4 years on active duty, and then joined the National Guard after that. It was while he was training in the National Guard that he met his future wife and both deployed to Iraq in 2004. After Iraq the two got married.
But early in 2007, Ault's wife, Betsy, received word that she would have to go back to Iraq. Jesse decided to reenlist and take her place. Last Wednesday Sgt. Jesse Ault was riding in his vehicle when it hit a bomb. He was killed.

This is so sad. Now a child will have to grow up without a dad and for what? What has this country gained from this stupid war? This needs to stop.

A tragedy. This is what people in this country ought to be outraged at, instead of whose pastor said what, or whose got more "experience." This man showed a level of devotion and put the interest of his family above himself in a manner that politicians just can't relate to and do not show in their pursuit of political office.

This story is just a small part of what happened. This is my step brother. He left behind a 10 year old step son that was like his own. He also had a 15 month old son and a 4 month old daughter!

Tiffany,
I am Jesse's uncle. My nephew died protecting your right to differ with our government and express your opinions in forums like this. Many in Jesse's family have proudly served our country in the armed services. Remember when you lay your head on your pillow at night and enjoy the freedoms won at the cost of the lives of patriots like Jesse, just what freedom means.
His is the story of the great American tragedy played out on the fields of battle from our war for independence through today. The great American tradjedy so that we can enjoy the great Americn dream.
I encourage you to find an anti-war forum for your views and leave these threads of remembrance to the fond memories of a fallen hero.

Tiffany and Ed
I am Jesse's aunt. Tiffany was practicing one the rights that Jesse was fighting for-the Freedom of Speech. Our founding fathers thought so highly of this right that it was the 1st amendment because they had been denied that right. When the people of a country do not have the right of Freedom of Speech, all other rights are denied or prevented. Jesse died protecting all "rights" and "freedoms".
What Tiffany was doing was expressing both her sorrow and anger for the death of our nephew. Jesse died in Iraq because of a political decision to go to war. I do not feel that I am dishonoring Jesse by mentioning the war. I will never dishonor any soldier who serves his/her country, or die for our country. However, the most American thing a citizen can do is speak up whenever they
see or perceive an injustice or mis use of or by the government. God Bless Jesse and our country.
