'Today It Costs Approximately $1,200 to Refuel a Truck'
April 24, 2008 10:09 AM
Talk about filling up your car! How would you like to have a big rig to fill up every morning? According to Dave Berry, the Vice President of Swift Transportation, the average national price of DIESEL FUEL is now $4.14 PER GALLON, nearly double what it was in 2004. Berry says, based on current Department of Energy predictions, "the trucking industry will be forced to spend an INCREDIBLE $141.5 BILLION on fuel this year which is $29 BILLION more than in 2007, and MORE THAN DOUBLE THE AMOUNT SPENT 4 YEARS AGO. TODAY IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY $1,200 TO REFUEL A TRUCK."
Berry, who will testify before Rep. Markey's select energy committee this morning, says the American Trucking Association has asked the federal government to temporarily STOP FILLING the strategic petroleum reserve and consider releasing some of the oil it holds to help address the current fuel crisis. He says the reserve has just over 700 MILLION barrels of crude oil, which is "EQUIVALENT TO A 58 DAY SUPPLY OF IMPORTED OIL FOR OUR NATION, or a 9 DAY SUPPLY OF OIL CONSUMED GLOBALLY." Berry adds releasing some reserves would temporarily increase crude supplies and also "HOPEFULLY HELP RESTORE RATIONAL BEHAVIOR TO THE PETROLEUM MARKETS."

Americans buy it the price will go up.
A boycott is needed now, the prices won't drop if we let it go.
The people need to do this, They can not wait or expect the government to do everything for them.
Shows society has gotten lazy and expect everyone else to take care of them.
Don't buy it they will drop the price.

and ,additionally ,tapping the countrys' petroleum reserves just to artificially affect the market is about the most stupid way to deal with the problem there is.
reserves are just that ,reserves ; and they are there for a reason , FOR EMERGENCYS! this current sitiation ,which is mostly an engineered "crisis" that is making alot of oil rich countries EVEN RICHER.
this is not a real emergency though and this is not a crisis . when a tidal wave washes away all the oil rigs in the gulf of mexico , or a mega hurricane ...THAT WILL BE AN EMERGENCY AND IF WE USE THE RESERVES UP NOW WHAT WILL WE DO THEN??
what we ,as a superpower and THE most powerful nation on this planet need to do is make iraq (who has the 3rd largest oil reserves ,btw ) and all these other oil producing nations we protect and give large amounts of aid/assistance to understand that the days of the free meal are over and if they want to be our valued and trusted allies we will need more than lip service from them .
opec could easily open up more production and release their own reserves (that they add to daily , there by decreasing the amount of oil on the market ,effectively raising the price )
opec ,and most of the other oil producers are just gouging the richest nations in the world because they can , because we (the large consumers ; ie PRODUCERS AS WELL!) allow it , thats the sad and simple truth unfortunately...
we (the politicians in the usa government ) need to implement appropriate taxes ,(and enforceable meaningful penalties when needed as well , to take into account all the things the usa provides to these oil producers , and see how efficient and productive they are without the american technical assistance and expertise (which they have been getting/stealing/taking for free for the last 200 years) , and our investment $$ as well...
WAKE UP!!

how in the hell is diesel the lowest grade of fuel astronomically higher than premium unleaded. let's face it folks whether you like 18-wheelers in your way on the highway or not if they can't operate because of ridiculous fuel prices this country is screwed. these trucks are more important than your personal vehicles, the gov't knows it. forcing diesel prices up is going to force the prices you pay for items in grocery stores and the delivery of your precious wants even higher. it is right there in ya face and if you don't support truck drivers(which most of america doesn't) then keep crying bout how you much you pay for milk and i will laugh at your own stupidity. Remember this OWNER/OPERATORS HAVE FAMILIES TOO AND THEY PAY THE SAME THING YOU PAY AT THE GROCERY STORE AND THEN OVER $4/GAL AT A 100 TO 200 GALLON FILL-UP AND PUT UP WITH OTHERS NONSENSE WHILE DRIVING. THEY ARE AMERICANS AND THEY NEED OUR HELP SO IN TURN IT WILL HELP US IN THE LONG RUN. WAKE UP LIKE BAH SAYS!!!
