HE SURE IS UNPOPULAR, BUT WHEN IT COMES TO WAR and SPYING, HE GETS WHAT HE WANTS
June 20, 2008 4:03 PM
There must be a holiday coming up! Oh yeah, July 4th. Time for congress to get serious and pass a bill or two.
Last night the U.S. House of Representatives gave one of the most unpopular presidents ever, a complete and total victory on funding for an unpopular war. He got all the money he wanted with no pesky troop withdrawal deadlines attached, real or imaginary.
There were two separate votes, one on war funding, the other on huge domestic spending increases. But NO member was forced to vote for both to get either.
PAINLESS!
Today the House is likely to pass a spy bill, FISA. It gives retroactive protection to the big phone companies facing a slew of lawsuits alleging they provided the government with customer information they had no right to give out. All the phone giants have to do is convince a federal judge they were following orders in order to avoid liability.
Quite an accomplishment for a president most politicians seem to be running from!

I would like to know how many bills Bush attached to the same one that also included support to our troops.
I bet it was a packaged deal, right?
So if they did not sign on the dotted line then our troops would be left out in the cold.
This is one thing I hope changes in Washington.
Bills can not be packaged together.
Those people on the hill can stay and earn the money we pay them by listing each bill separate and it will be voted on that way.

With alot of help from the Dems including Obama. First, he was against wire tapping terrorist before he was for it. Opt-out of public financing.
WOW!! Two flip-flops in two days. He's on a row..Can't wait for tomorrow...

I'm ashamed to say I'm a democrate. Pelosi and Reid have got to go. Talk about appeasment.

You guys really need to get a reality check.
Bush packaged the deal.
If it was not voted on with a yes, then you guys would be mad about our troops not getting the money they need, our troops are at this point more important then this spy crap.
Just another Bush/McCain way of making Democratic look bad. They don't realize however, most of us have jumped off the stupid train and we will fall for their crap any more.

Pelosi and Reid need to learn how to put Bush's feet to the fire. This was never about the troops not getting what THEY need. It is always about military contracts and campaign donations. Protecting the Telcoms adds millions to those political coffers.
Meanwhile, the last legal thread the American people had to address who was spying on us and for how long was buried by the pathetic wimps who call themselves the Democratic leadership.

Correction: Sounds like time for the voters to pay attention to who the sheople are in their house AND herd them on out. Excuse my typo.

And the democrats kneel down before the God of big government and say "Thank you, Our Dear Leader" to George W. Bush, yet AGAIN!!! The Democrats are spineless. They are collaborators, NOT in opposition to ANYTHING Bush has done. If we ever get around to putting Bush and Cheney in jail, the second wing will begin with Reid and Pelosi.

Dare I say I'm a democrat? It seems this political season is turning out to be either a really bad dream or I'm awake and it's a nightmare.

Bush has to be one of the most underrated presidents in history. Unfortunately most of his efforts have been re. security at the expense of other issues. Success at home and in the middle east in spite of a hostile press and an ever expanding entitlement crowd. I'm very thankful we didn't have to put up with the koolaid drinkers during WW 11.

Underrated? Indeed. Bush is WORSE than we know about! His evil reign is almost over and in 2009 we will turn over the rocks where he's been stashing his truly traitorous actions.

lets see what bush has done for us----no jobs----4.00 per gallon gas-----mortgage forclosures---no health care--a freaking war that no one but bush can figure out---immigration gone nuts----the guy is a bastion of good.

For an unpopular president he gets what he wants. More likely he gets what the people deserve.
Sounds like Bush is rather convincing.
The Democrats should be looking at November more closely. Victory is not in sight.
