Senator Kennedy Undergoes Surgery
October 12, 2007 11:48 AM
ABC News' Z. Byron Wolf reports: U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., underwent surgery in Massachussetts today to clear his carotid artery. His office says the procedure was preventive and non invasive. The blockage was discovered during an evaluation of his back and spine.
Kennedy has had back problems since he was in a plane crash in 1964 and never spends too much time standing. He will apparently be out of the hospital in a few days.
STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF SENATOR EDWARD M. KENNEDY
"As part of a routine evaluation of Senator Kennedy's back and spine, MRI studies picked up an unrelated, asymptomatic blockage in the Senator's left carotid artery. This morning, Senator Kennedy underwent preventive surgery at
Massachusetts General Hospital to remove the blockage. The surgery, which was performed by Doctor Richard Cambria, was routine and successful. After a very brief recovery period, Senator Kennedy will resume his normal schedule in Washington and in Massachusetts."

It is good to know that I am a psychotic liberal, so much better than a blood thirsty war mongering conservative.

Brian, from the People's Republic of Decatur, doesn't realize that liberals are psychotic AND misguided. I should know, I lived in Decatur for 15 years before I made good my escape and now live in a Republic outside the PRD.
Kennedy has never done an honest day's work in his entire life, and yet he claims to speak for the working man while keeping his ca$h in multiple offshore accounts. His gangster father would be proud of him.

How you kept this bloated, tax-fattened hyena in office for this long is beyond me.

Teddy is it true that your family pays no US taxes because your money is in a off shore trust in Fiji? No wonder you like to raise our taxes. How can you people keep electing this bloated clown he is a caricature to be sure

Would appreciate knowing What percentage of his
artery was blocked!
They will not do surgery on my blocked arteries
even though one is 100% blocked and the
other is highly blocked!
Why do they do his and not mine??
Because of who he is and because he has lots
of money!!

I would rather be a right wing nut job than a liberal who doesn't realize how much damage he has caused over his long insipid political career. This has nothing to do with George Bush who I think is a moron ad not discernably a Conservative in anay way.

I'm just trying to figure out how carotid artery surgery can be "non-invasive."
We didn't have to invade Iraq, in order to cut?

Thank God he went in for an exam and the
blockage was discovered before it was too late.

I just knew that some right wing nut job would make a negative comment about this story and about Senator Kennedy and I was not disappointed as you all can see. The man had a health problem and someone takes the opportunity to take a cheap shot at the him because he is a liberal. Well thank goodness for Senator Kennedy and his liberalism. He has done more for people in this country than those taking cheap shots at him while sitting at their desks sniping instead of getting involved and trying to solve some the problems we have in this country. Just because someone is a liberal does not mean they are psychotic or misguided. I would rather have Senator Kennedy's liberalism than the "compassionate" conservatism of George W. Bush who feels that it is ok to veto a bill that would have helped children get some badly needed health care.
