Britney's Latest Role: Sitcom Star
March 11, 2008 10:48 AM
Over the past year and a half, Britney Spears has played many roles: paparazzi magnet, scorned single mom, hysterical psych-ward patient.
Now, she's taking on another, guest-starring as a secretary on "How I Met Your Mother."
Series star Neil Patrick Harris confirmed to "Entertainment Tonight" Monday that the pop star will appear on an upcoming episode of the CBS sitcom.
"I was shocked that Madame Spears was willing to come and do some acting," Harris said. "She hasn't acted in a while. This is a very interesting role. It is very not like her at all in real life in any of her previous chapters. She plays the secretary to another girl that Ted [played by actor Josh Rador] is after. So, it will be very unlike any Britney we have seen before, and we have seen a lot of Britney recently."
Unlike the rest of her daily life, Spears' "How I Met Your Mother" performance will not be captured by the paparazzi. The show films on a studio lot where outside photographers are not allowed.
Spears has a handful of acting credits to her name -- most memorably, the 2002 film "Crossroads," which The Washington Post dubbed "not a music video, not yet a movie but more like an extended-play advertisement for the Product that is Britney." Her last scripted TV appearance was on the now defunct NBC sitcom "Will & Grace" in 2006, playing a religious conservative TV personality who emcees a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's."

Oh yeah! The little pretty pregnant girl's sister.

This is a fast paced, cleaverly written show. I don't see her "fitting" in for any future shows. "If" she is written in, I'm changing the channel. I am burned out on Britney!

I think that Britany has been exploited in her personal as well as professional live and believe she should be given a chance to begin to do the things her doctor's recommend. I also have a similar problem and I feel if people would give her a chance she may become a functional member of society and the professional community again.

Britney-Star: Two absolutely and completely diametrically opposed terms. There are those that claim Britney has been 'exploited'. In response to that claim, there are two very large segments of American society that thrive on claiming and living the life of 'victimization'. Those two segments appear to feed off one another and disgust reasonable minded individuals. The media certainly has a very loose definition for the term 'star' and 'beauty' these days as well. At least her part in the sitcom as 'ditzy and/or mindless secretary' will not require any acting ability.

The moral of the story is: Sleep around, pop out kids you refuse to care for, get married and divorced a couple times, walk around with your legs spread, short skirts and no panties, abuse everyone and everything around you and then mentally check out until someone comes and makes it all better... and you'll get rewarded for it over and over and over, and people will praise you and call you a "role model". Yup. It's the end of the world. Someone put this disgusting trashbag on my television screen. *gag*
