Britney and Mel: Jet-Setting BFFs?
May 15, 2008 4:19 PM
Two of Hollywood's biggest train wrecks just fled town -- together.
Britney Spears and Mel Gibson are going on a Costa Rica vacation, according to "Entertainment Tonight." Their private plane left Los Angeles Thursday morning. They'll stay at Gibson's Costa Rica home and return next week. Spears' father, Jamie, is also tagging along.
This isn't the first time the problematic pop star and actor/director have hung out. In March, paparazzi spotted them dining together at the L.A. Russian restaurant Romanov. According to People magazine, Gibson, Spears and their families met many times after she was hospitalized in February. They were also neighbors when Spears lived in Malibu.
After months of hospital stints, bizarre breakdowns and skipped court dates, Spears has cleaned up her act over the past few weeks. She scored two guest spots on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother," returned to the recording studio and showed up for a child custody hearing where she won expanded visitation rights with her two sons.
Gibson has kept a low profile since his July 2006 DUI arrest, in which he screamed anti-Semitic slurs at a cop. The "Passion of the Christ" director later apologized for his "despicable" behavior and said the slurs were "blurted out in a moment of insanity." He's still on probation from the sentence stemming from that arrest.

Mel Gibson a train wreck?... hehehe... just trivial things that many do make a trainwreck for a star. I think Mel rocks!

I love the "southpark" parodies of Mel.

Isn't it obvious he wants to help her so they are probably planning on making a movie! Either that or she suddenly likes older men! LOL!

Whoa dude, I want to go on a vacation with Mel.

What really stupid person refers to Mel Gibson as a train wreck? Mel Gibson is a successful actor, filmmaker, and awesome person. Sheila Marikar must be a disrespectful jealous person who fortunately won't make a decent gossip columnist.

mel gibson is also a friend of courtney love, who actually has some similar things, like kid taken away, drug problems, mental health issues, etc. I saw one interview with courtney love who said mel tries to help them, that's nice of him

it's nice of him, but I forgot to add, all of us really should look at really positive influences for help, I wouldn't look to Mel as a role model, but it's a nice gesture

Evidently the writer of this article Sheila Marikar is a "trainwreck". Here's a tip for you Sheila, get into another line of work...say maybe waiting tables. You're an idiot!

I wonder if they will run off and become Scientologists together...

I can't believe they just called Mel Gibson a "train wreck". HOW RUDE

You go Mel! I think it's great that Mel is giving Britiney a helping hand to get away from all that stress she lives under. No wonder she goes bonkers. I know if you're a star you're gonna get your picture taken but 24/7 is ridicules. I think it's great her dad had stepped up to the plate and helps her but she'll probably listen to Mel's advice since he really knows what she's going through. So, I think Mel's great and not a train wreck!!!!!

If he is a Scientologist, He is obligated by his religion to help Nut cases ... Or you haven't seen The Video Tom Cruise made where he explains the allure of Scientology.
I see nothing wrong with this situation between Mel and Britney.

He's been around A.A. for awhile and she needs that program to get her life back on track. Even though he went back out and really screwed up, he's sober again and maybe able to help her. He's a good man. Good luck to them both.

Way to go, Mel! Giving hope to over-40, whoops, I mean over-50 guys everywhere!
Just kidding. I hope that he can provide a stable influence on the young woman and help her straighten out her life.

Mel, please make one more "Mad-Max" film! Keep it to the basics...in the Australian outback, lots a car chases, fighting for petrol. This would make a ton of money at the box office!

Britney Spears in a "Mad Max" flick? Cool.

Time to concentrate. But maybe I should go to work first, that might be a good idea since I am not a successful Internet kaillionaire yet.
However, as mentioned, first things first, no sense wasting time, gonna get right into the most important aspect of the moment as we . . . as we . . . .
Well, okay, here it is. It looks like, according to my secret sources, that Britney Spears is going to be the bad guy in the next Mad Max flick that George and Mel are making. There, I've said it, the rumour's out. Now let chaos magic have its sway.
