Madonna Gets 'Sticky and Sweet'
May 08, 2008 10:29 AM
With her latest album at the top of the charts, Madonna's looking to dominate the concert scene too.
The pop star has announced the dates for her “Sticky and Sweet” world tour, which will kick off Aug. 23 in Cardiff, Wales, one week after her 50th birthday. Madge hits the states Oct. 3, kicking off the North American leg of her tour in East Rutherford, N.J.
Madonna will once again team up with music tour and promotion company Live Nation, with which she signed a 10-year recording and touring contract last year. The deal, reported to be worth $120 million, involves a three-album commitment and brought her long-term collaboration with Warner Bros. to an end.
She's got her own record to beat -- her 2006 “Confessions” tour was the highest grossing concert tour of all time by a female artist with ticket sales of a little less than $195 million.
