Congressional Sex Scandal?
May 02, 2006 10:26 AM
The Congressional payoff scandal may soon be known as the Congressional sex scandal.
The FBI is now investigating whether hookers were part of the scheme used by defense companies to get lucrative contracts.
We already know about the cash, cars, mansions and yachts that changed hands in the case of disgraced former Congressman Duke Cunningham.
But now sources close to the investigation tell us, as well as the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, that sexual favors may have been part of the deal.
The allegations include descriptions of Washington, D.C. poker parties in hotel suites, where prostitutes were brought by limousine as part of the entertainment.
No comment from the owner of the limousine company, a man with a long criminal record who just happened to get a $20 million contract to provide limousine service for the Department of Homeland Security.

It should be noted that everyone implicated in this scheme is a Republican member of Congress. Its time for a change!

I would have thought that since there is sex involved, the main stream media will eat it up, but the media was totally uninterested in the fact that a mail prostitute with an assumed name visited the Whitehouse over 200 times, so we'll see. The rules are clearly different than they were during the Clinton administration.
Posted by: Bill Batten | May 2, 2006 1:38:39 PM
Well isn't this a piece of good news! What will happen to any of the Repubs if they get themselves caught in an investigation and they are exposed for what they are, a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again! I can't believe W isn't being censured or impeached at this point. Hes a criminal and his whole administration is slime. They make their own rules and do as they damn well please and no one can question them. Thats total rubbish and everyone knows it. Come on Democrats and do something and show the world you have the fortitude to take them on.

Am I just cynical, or do you enforce party loyalty and keep the oposition at bay by using compromising photos? "Traditional Family Values", you know...
Posted by: Blueneck | May 2, 2006 2:41:39 PM
Dear ABC:
This administration and Republican-controlled Congress are the most corrupt ever. This is a huge story, and I've very glad you're covering it. Thank you.
Posted by: Shari Walczak | May 2, 2006 2:47:13 PM
Classic neoconservative sleaze and hypocrisy. While the Terri Schiavo Republicans chanted about the "sanctity of marriage" to highlight their gay-marriage wedge issue they were spending time with prostitutes, classic.

When Bush came to office, there were cries of bringing "honor, trust and other adjective" to the government. Now we see what they meant! The payoffs, scandels incompetency of this government headed by Bush and the republican is what we have now. Honestly they don't know where their heads are
Posted by: Wilma | May 2, 2006 3:09:18 PM
Brian Ross may be introducing this story, but will ABC News actually cover it? I think a missing blonde in Aruba and Britney's pregnancy require further study, commentary and attention - much more than this story affords.
Posted by: K. Tyndall | May 2, 2006 3:17:01 PM
How about some hard facts, instead of diatribe?
Posted by: Dave | May 2, 2006 3:41:26 PM
Glad to see you picked up on this one, ABC. Hope you have an investigative reporter who will dig deeper. And the Jeff Gannon/Male Prostitute With Access To The White House While Posing As A Reporter story deserved an investigation.
Posted by: J. Williams | May 2, 2006 3:48:17 PM
Oh dear!! What will we tell the children?? Don't hold your breath at any serious investigating of the Republicans being done by your mainstream media lapdogs though. Remember --it's the same media that aided and abetted the Bush cabal's rush to war in Iraq followed by their subsequent coverup of the lies and deceit employed in that process. But then again -- this story is about sex -- the media prostitutes will be chomping at the bit to delve their "Enquiring minds" into this sordid business. Keeping fingers crossed...
Posted by: T.J. Hoppe | May 2, 2006 3:51:33 PM
Isn't it interesting that all of the comments are anti-Republican? Would ABC even run the story if it was about Democrats? Whether you like it or not, ABC has a constituency, just as FOX does.
Posted by: Ricky | May 2, 2006 3:51:42 PM
It is high time that the nation starts finding a new independent
party or candidates to represent
us, like the founding Father intended. WE need honest men and
women, who are not directed by creed.
Posted by: Frank Foy | May 2, 2006 3:55:21 PM
You better check your facts Ryan, Dingy Harry is on that list to. 60K in Abramhoff contributions he wont return. Doesn't sound like a republican scandal lets face it the corruption has been in DC since congress has been there repubs or dems are all in it to get their sorry butts re-elected thats the bottom line both parties are the problem nobody is looking to what effects they have on the future. How about instead of imploding FEMA we should do it to the house and senate and revamp the system, not another mccain feingold band aid where the crooks are writing the legislation they have to follow. loopholes anyone 527 ring a bell next cycle something a little worse
Posted by: bill | May 2, 2006 3:55:38 PM
Hey If Republicans can put Male Prostitutes like Jeff Gannon into the white house press corps, why would anyone be surprised by this?
Now what was the Republican mantra in the 90's? oh yes "WHERE's THE OPUTRAGE?!" LOL so much for the party of personal responsibility.
Posted by: PJ | May 2, 2006 4:06:47 PM
The Republicans in Congress & the Administration are doing what they are doing because they think that they can get away with it , , , & so far, most of them have gotten away with it.

I have a prediction...These girls were exotic girls...Remember delay and tans human trafficing...Hmmmm
Posted by: pal | May 2, 2006 4:24:31 PM
I'm wondering, since this scandal involves Cunningham, and Rep. Cunningham outted himself to HRC director, Elizabeth Birch, were the prostitutes all female? Is Jeff Gannon involved?
Posted by: cowboyNEOK | May 2, 2006 4:30:34 PM
A Republican heterosexual sex scandal? You're kidding?
I would thought that the only kind of Republican sex scandal there could be, was a homosexual sex scandal. So this story is kind of hard for me to believe.
However, Jeff Gannon was mentioned, so I guess I find this story somewhat believable.
Posted by: Hydro | May 2, 2006 4:33:48 PM
And this is different than the Clinton era how?
The same people who downplayed Clinton's exploits will now argue that this is the worst scandal ever.
Stop acting like sheep. Republican or Democrat; they're equally corrupt.
You've gotta be a bit simple-minded to believe that one party is really that much better than the other.
Posted by: Matt | May 2, 2006 4:45:46 PM
The corruption scandle in congress is the result of power and money. Members of the congress are power hungry and do every thing to stay in power. This requires of them to seek money to be elected and relected again and again. Money from lobbies, who represent multinational croporations, will donate money to those congressmen who pass bills that benefit these croporations. This how money, power and corruption are linked. The Americans are the lossers, politicians and multinationals are the winer. As simple as that.
Posted by: abdallah | May 2, 2006 4:52:02 PM
Well, there we go again with another scandel in the white house. Didn't we have enough with Clintion off the table experince. Now, the term "republican party" is known to be taken to a new level, the lustful kind!
Posted by: Roy Pezzat | May 2, 2006 5:03:14 PM
What I find interesting is that a MSM blog would post this and not one person has yet to call us names or smear the site. Twice remarkable... W and his merry band of thieves may yet be doomed.

Wasn't Scott McClellan's favorite reporter, "Jeff Gannon", a hooker?
Who was he "entertaining" and for what?

The department of homeland security is starting to sound like it's run by the mob. Look at the range of suspicious goings-on and leaders in charge. My suspicion is that a close look at these people and their activities will unearth a wealth of disturbing news. Get 'em!

I'd rather JFK & Marilyn, or Bill & Monica, than Dubya & Jeff Gannon ...

It is amazing to me that Congress would attempt to impeach the President for having his, ur, personal, ur, moment in the white house but have no problem hiring, ur, entertainment I believe it was called without being reprimanded. Unbelievable!
Posted by: Angela | May 2, 2006 6:23:26 PM
Bush said if he was elected in 2000 he was going to give the oval office a good scrubbing...well more than the oval office needs cleaning. Folks, if defense contractors are involved in prostitutes...then they are involved with Jeff Gannon, male White House whore. Let's get to the gay congressional sex...so we can movec on and rescue the kids from the kiddie congressional sex...ie.see Franklin Cover Up.
Posted by: Lauren | May 2, 2006 6:27:29 PM
Even aside from Gannon/Guckert and Neil Bush, how can you have all that corruption flying about and NOT have Hookers (of whatever sort or persuasion/age?), or for that matter be more appalled at one than the rest.
When a person goes this rouge, why would they stop at half measures as long as they thought they could get away with it.
And if you can make anything a state secret, you can, at least for a while.
THe comparison has gone way beyond Clinton and is approaching Saddam's sons.
Posted by: FreeDem | May 2, 2006 6:42:06 PM
The GOP, Greedy Old Pigs, have shown again that they own the monopoly on hypocrisy. Will the mainstream media expose the GOP for what they are? I have my doubts. After all, if the religious right finds out about this sex scandal, Bush might lose his base and then he might not be able to start another war.
Posted by: Serendipity | May 2, 2006 6:59:06 PM
I wondered how Jeff Gannon figured into all this - I guess now we have our answer!
Posted by: Just Some Chick | May 2, 2006 9:19:57 PM
Stephen Colbert wrapped Bush up, and tossed him into the garbage in a stinging "tribute" to the president last Saturday evening. Of course, the mainstream media (MSM - liberal? LOL) totally ignored it. The beauty of BUSH, a short ten feet from Colbert's podium, being subjected to a ROAST to end all ROASTs, while silently fuming, was all the sweeter because there could be no crueler torture this side of Abu Ghraib.
Colbert, bathing the BUSHie in waves of effusive adulation, cut to the bone.
God bless Stephen Colbert, a man uncommon intellect, AND humor that went over the heads of most of the PRESSCORPS, who mostly pretended not to hear.
Posted by: rmpo0643052 | May 2, 2006 9:36:57 PM
Bernie Weiner said they will keep on doing what they are doing untill the American public revolts. Congress sure as hell is not going to do anything about Bush and company!
Posted by: Sandy | May 2, 2006 9:38:58 PM
And let's never forget: While the the sanctimonious "Culture of Life and Family Values" Republicans were accepting bribes, partying and getting it on with prostitutes, our kids in uniform in Iraq were being fed rotten food by Haliburton, couldn't get the equipment and armor they needed, couldn't come home because of Bush's "stop-loss" policy, and were being killed and maimed - while Congressional Republicans - all of whom backed up Bush's lies - were getting laid.
How much more do we need to know??
Why aren't we rising up?
What will it take?
What will we say to the mother of the last soldier to die in Iraq for Bush's lies, "sorry, we were too busy to stop them any sooner"???
Posted by: roooth | May 2, 2006 10:06:10 PM
True news are great news.... With your position, you don't want to hurt anyone or any family. Just don't want you to fall into Dan Rather's foodsteps.... Make sure true story is true first....
Posted by: Charity BT | May 3, 2006 12:55:49 AM
What I don't understand is how can Tom DeLay say the current Russell Feingold-led censure movement against Bush is unconstitutional when he led the impeachment wars against Clinton?
And how much longer is the "liberal MSM" argument going to work? Don't more people listen to Rush Limbaugh everyday than read the New York Times?

Brian ... do you have enough "pull" to get the producer of the nightly news to broadcast this? We trust you. BTW love and respect Elizabeth Vargas.
Posted by: David | May 3, 2006 12:47:10 PM
For me, the most remarkable and frightening aspect of all this is the connivance of the television and newpspaper media with the Bush Administration's criminal and totalitarian activities. Is there anything that can be done so that the nation can get accurate, timely, and thorough information so that we don't have to rely on the good will of media tycoons to give it to us?
Posted by: Jack Mullholland | May 3, 2006 12:48:01 PM
Well let's see...GW and his bunch promised to return dignity to the White House.
So let me get this straight...
Lying us into war is ok, spying on U.S. citizens is ok, torturing prisoners (detainees if you prefer) is ok, raping the environmnet is ok, putting us into hock through the next millenium is ok, outing CIA agents is ok, graft, corruption and bribery as the norm is ok, selling out the country to Big Oil is ok, but wait a minute. There's SEX going on in Washington? Thank God. Finally we have something to go after these people with.
Ahh, if only it were that simple.
Posted by: Paul R. Stringer | May 3, 2006 1:06:33 PM
I dont see how this is a partisan problem. Diane Feinstien flying for free on corprate jets along with Stephanie Jones(D-Ohio) taking a lobbyist funded trip to Puerto Rico a few years back, and William Jefferson-D from New Orleans took $360k in bribes from a Va tech company. To say that Republicans are to blame instead of the whole culture of corruption in DC would be ignorant. And all these people, Delay and "the Duke" included, should be indicted.
Posted by: Chuck | May 3, 2006 1:15:44 PM
Note to Bill Batten:
That's right, Bill. Show the entire internet community how much true discernment you possess. The obvious answer is none if you truly believe all Republicans associated with the current administration are corrupt and slimely. It never ceases to amaze me how blinded some people are by pure hatred of George Bush.

It does not surpise me that all comments on this site are anti-Bush. You all are the most bitter and angry people around. If you want change, then support Dems and come up with a plan and if the people support it, you will take back control. In the meantime, quit whining - whining is not a plan.

Come off it you guys! Why pretend to be outraged? Since when has morality been taken seriously in this our so-called western civilization? Genocide, ethnic cleansing, bullying, manipulation, greed, exploitation and thievery is the foundation on which our wealth and dominance rest, and we are all happy beneficiaries of our despicable moral standards.

Posted by: Donna | May 3, 2006 8:37:23 PM
When will Mr. Ross and those who profess to be "journalists" begin to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the traitors who have stolen our country, our money, and most precious of all: our lives? The people who have been killed because of this "administration" have died for nothing but the greed and profiteering of these butchers. The "Mainstream Media" is just as culpable, also, for not abiding by the civic responsibility inherent in the very nature of their jobs: to inform the public. This is the most disgraceful era in American and world history.

This will soon be forgotten and called "old news" all while they tout the same bull in trying to get us to fear and attack Iran. Bush, et al, need to be brought up on charges and incarcerated for allowing our soldiers to go to war under false pretenses and for the mass murder of everyone that has died in the war in Iraq. 3000 killed on 9/11 do not justify 100,000 innocent Iraqi's and 3000 coalition forces killed due to the Bush administration's war on Iraq. Who is the bigger terrorist? Bush.
Posted by: Tim Ricketson | May 4, 2006 3:50:05 PM
Throw them out. All of them. Lock them up, bar them and their supporters from ever coming close to DC again. It is the only solution.
Posted by: Tom A | May 4, 2006 4:08:17 PM
At the risk of sounding cynical, I will say, Dems. and Repubs. are one in the same. One day it's a democrat involved in corruption or a sex scandal, next day it's a Republican. They have nothing to throw on each others' faces. They are with a few exceptions, morally corrupt. Their only worry is to be reelected, and what group to pander, to obtain more votes. Sickening.
