Penn to Play Clarke in Movie
May 17, 2006 4:57 PM
Former White House counter-terrorism official Richard Clarke, now an ABC News consultant, will be portrayed by Sean Penn in the Sony film of Clarke's "Against All Enemies." The book chronicles what happened inside the White House leading up to and through the 9/ll attacks. The film will be directed by Paul Haggis.

If anyone does a film about the run up to 9/11 and doesn't mention John O'Neill - then it is a complete waste of time.
John O'Neill - former FBI anti-terror agent who did all he could do to warn US Govt about pending attacks but was ignored. Quit the FBI to work as head of security at twinb towers and tragically died on September 11, 2001 when the towers collapsed.

Paul Haggis did not win the oscar for directing "Crash". Ang Lee won the oscar for directing "Brokeback Mountain"

Sean Penn seems like a bit of an idiot, but he's a very very good actor. I'm sure he'll do a great job.

who produces these stupid movies? People who have money to burn because I can tell you right now ,this one is a dude.

Is Michael Moore producing?

Give me a break. Why wouldn't Haggis get an actor without the liberal bias of Senn Penn? Actors should act, not think they are politicians with political motivation. Obviously, this film will be nothing more than a hatchet job on the Bush Administration...Hollywood and fantasy at its best. Not Real.

Well I hope there will be plenty of reference to the 8 years of the Clinton Administration as well. It is hard to believe we lived in a utopia during that period whereas the 9-11 terrorists started to plot their strategy at 12:01 pm on Jan 20, 2001.
Particularly I'd like the movie to focus on "Operation Able Danger" or "Able Danger" when the Clinton Administration failed to put a stop to Osama Bin Laden.

What, two-years before another presidential election? Already the left is lining up their list of propaganda distortions in an attempt to win without an agenda (that is, other than to blame others).

Sean Penn has been my favorite actor since At Close Range and Bad Boys. The guy is simply the best American actor alive but damn am I getting tired of liberal actors acting like they know so much about politics. He knows as much as most and that is absolutely nothing nothing. We are given so little information that there is no way we really have any idea what goes on.

I wonder if someone will make an honest film regarding 9/11 that has the courage to imply the Bush administration.
Posted by: Carlos | May 17, 2006 7:16:05 PM
I'm not surprised,
Though I didnt see AAE as anti Bush as many feel, I'm not surprised Hollywood is doing summersults to bring it to the screen and Woodward's extremely pro Bush, "Bush at War" is passed over.

Maureen said:I can tell you right now ,this one is a dude.
You mean, it's LIKE totally California?
Just kidding. I know you meant DUD, and I agree. Hollywood must have money to burn.

Actually Paul Haggis won two Oscars for "Crash". One for best screenplay and one for motion picture of the year.

i GOT TO AGREE WITH BOBO,IF IT GOTS SEAN PENN, IT GOING TO BE A WASTE AND A LIE.

Sean Peen needs to retire. As a product, which all actors are, his shelf life has expired.

This is an attempt at propaganda, there is no way to make this film with the names included into non-partisan film.

Why does everyone still say it is liberal bias is behind all the backlash from the war on terror? It is about right and wrong, not right and left. This administrations' lies and incompetence cannot be spun anymore...we have no obligation to act as psyncophants to the idea of a commander and chief being infallable. Call it as it is. Criminal Mismanagement. Any movie spelling out other points of view other than FOX news is refreshing.

Umm, have any of you criticizing this actually read the book? There seems to be a lot of opinions being formed in this country these days based on things people have HEARD and not what people have read.

I hope this is followed up by the film "ACLU: Protecting American's Freedom" starring Charlton Heston and Sean Hannity in Rush Limbaugh's directorial debut.

Why is it that when an actor or artist or director, for that matter, takes action politically you jump down their throats. What gives you any more right to spout off on your various ideologies, theories, and other blind ambitions. Are actors not permitted in this club? Think things out. The facts are out people. Wake up. Crimes have and continue to occur with our Mr. Bush. You've been hoodwinked.
