Democrats on Bush: "Dollars, Not Sense"

June 19, 2006 1:44 PM

Democratic investigators have identified 118 contracts worth $745.5 billion with "significant overcharges, wasteful spending or mismanagement over the past five years."

The findings are included in a 65-page report, "Dollars Not Sense, Government Contracting Under the Bush Administration," released today by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA).

Halliburton was identified as the single fastest growing federal contractor from 2000 to 2005, now holding the No. 6 spot on the list with near $6 billion in contracts.

Lockheed Martin is identified as the company with the most government contracts, $25 billion in 2005. According to the report, that is more than the combined budgets of the Department of Commerce, the Department of Interior, the Small Business Administration and Congress.

The report lists three major contracts as "spending binges" by the Bush administration, including $19 billion on "massive but ill-conceived" homeland security contracts.

The report describes "problem contracts" worth $38 billion in homeland security, Iraq reconstruction and Katrina/Rita-related programs.

Anybody(BUSH) that would support greedy and corrupt cronies while his soldiers hunt for metal in the garbage dumps of Iraq to patch their vehicles up with, will pay a heavy price in many ways. Anybody(brainwashed voters, misled and misleading MSM, faux news and faux military persons) who support such a loser will also pay a heavy price. One they can ill afford to pay so they have to hope the poor prop them up in their bloodlust greed they thrive in. The ooze is now emerging from under the carpet and many people are now waking up to the most failed administration ever in the history of the USA.

Wouldn't it be nice if these leaders, who so willingly sell off the young and brave of our country for money, had close relatives in the line of fire as well? They seem to be past feeling and incapable of making moral decisions.

May the GOP and all who support it continue to grow richer at the expense of our Nation's future.

Bush and his cronies. Congress with all their pork projects. Boy I'm glad someone knows how to spend my money. I wouldn't know what to do with it otherwise.

Someday I hope that the american people who are hiring these folks to represent me hold them accountable. The candidates that I vote for rarely win but that doesn't stop me from voting and debating the issues.

OUR government spending and PORK has been here in Clinton's days and I don't recall anyone crying about it then!! WE the people are responsible for our CONGRESS & SENATE who vote for these BUDGETS and YES PORK!! STOP CRYING AND STOP ACTING ON IT!!!

I WAS crying about it during the Clinton Administration but no one was listening.

Here we have yet another report/investigation taken up by one of our political parties to dig up whatever they can on the other party right before mid-term elections. That of course is what's really important here right Congress? You guys aren't really worried about what's happening to the people's money, that's why your salaries and pet projects are funded FIRST, then the roads get fixed and by time you roll around to music and art programs for Nebraska's school system the plug gets pulled on the band. Happens every time, no matter what party has is in the White House.

Does anyone want to know where all that pork ends up?? Look in your own living rooms. If the Democrats control the White House and Congress millions of average American's get shafted in one way if the Republicans are running the show we're shafted in another. It's a sham that a country of our size has only two viable political parties to choose from. When ANY third party gets itself a head of steam with the voting public by exciting them with their message both Dems and Reps join forces to squash the life out of their campaign, and that my friends is where the money that was supposed to be for Nebraska's Tuba went.

Subject: Representative Henry Waxman (D- CA), Report entitled "Dollars, Not Sense." Writing federal reports about the fraud that allows large business to steal small-business set-asides, to obtain commercial contracts for noncommercial items, etc., is a waste of time. I suggest that Representative Waxman turn his rather long list of contractor culprits over to the United States Department of Justice and demand prosecution on behalf of the American taxpayer. If Congressman Waxman does not call for prosecution, then it is my belief that he has enabled dozens and dozens of criminal corporate cultures to dominate federal procurement for the next decade, if not longer.
