Lunch with Warren Buffett Costs Over $500,000, Gratuity Not Included

How much does lunch with Warren Buffett cost? Over $500,000, and that's not including the tip. But it's all for charity.
Today is the last day eBay is accepting bids on a power lunch with the billionaire. The highest bidder gets to bring seven guests to New York's famed Smith & Wollensky steakhouse to share a porterhouse (and hopefully some investment tips) with Warren.
At the moment, the highest bid is $502,400. (Maybe this bidder doesn't need any investment tips.)
Bidding began on June 22, with an opening bid of over $50,000. Since then, four bidders have gone back and forth, and the current top bid is $502,400.
A hundred percent of the proceeds from the winning bid will benefit the Glide Foundation, a non-profit group that works with the poor and homeless in San Francisco.
Bidding ends tonight at 10pm ET.

His fortune was accumulated over many years of investments and business deals. The person paying 500,000 for a soup and salad, might just as well throw darts at stock listings in a newspaper and invest accordingly.

I really think people have gone insane.
Charity or not, their is no excuse for anyone in this world to have to pay that kind of money for lunch with already wealthy people. these people must be nuts.
Maybe money is the reason people go nuts. Their is so much proverty in this world, the true meaning of charity is to help people, not have lunch with a bunch of millionaires. If all of this money truly..............went to the poor, what a real difference it would make, but the bulk of it goes to committee's or passed down for salery's or some other excuse other than real need.

No one HAS to pay that price for the lunch. It's voluntary. The proceeds goes to a charity for the "poor and homeless"?

i wish i had the money to do it, then i would triple my net worth and help the homeless here.
