White Power Leader Indicted by U.S.
June 13, 2006 12:40 PM
The leader of one of the world's largest and most active neo-Nazi/white supremacist organizations, the National Alliance, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Utah.
Shaun Walker, the chairman of the National Alliance, and two other members of the group were charged with conspiring to interfere with the civil rights of two minority men in Salt Lake City in 2002 and 2003.
According to the FBI, the National Alliance, headquartered in West Virginia, has an established record of robberies, murders and bombings.
Last year in an interview with ABC News at the National Alliance compound, Walker said, "We stand for white people, it's pretty simple."
The indictment alleges that Walker and others sought to provoke fights and arguments in public places to make minorities "afraid to appear in public, work and live in and around Salt Lake City."
Also charged with Walker were Travis Massey, 29, the group's Utah spokesman, and Eric Egbert, 21, of Salt Lake City.
Federal marshals will transport Walker from West Virginia to Salt Lake City where he will be arraigned.
No one at the National Alliance compound could be reached for comment.
The Anti-Defamation League applauded the indictments. "The arrests send a powerful message to the racists and bigots who believe they can get away with targeting minorities," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.
Read the Indictment for Shaun Walker, Travis Massey and Eric Egbert.

John - If a white person says something inappropriate,it's called racist. If a black person says something inappropriate, why do you say it's "..taken out of context and misinterpreted."? So, basically your saying double standards are OK. No, double standards are not OK. Racist is racist, doesn't mater who says it, what the context is, or how the person tries to explain it away later.

Any group titled with Supremacist or Nazi should be indicted. Let the feds get the long time, well known KKK group, as well.

how can anyone compare the statements from Ray Nagin to the entire actions, mission and beliefs of white supremacists??? Nagins statements were not meant to inspire fear, hatred and intimidations among minorities...if you want to bring up anything make sure you have a clear line between your points!!!

The first people here in this country were the Native Americans. Yet, we all come from around the globe. That's what makes this country great. We are from the same human race. I can't understand why the color of your skin makes one any different.

Now say it with me everyone. . .
Americans are from America, Africans are from Africa, Europeans are from Europe, Mexicans are from Mexico, Chinese are from China etc. Good Job!
Now, black & white is the color of crayons & other objects-- okay!
Everyone in America except for, Native (originating in a particular place or in the vicinity) Indians migrated (minus those brought against their will) here. America is not owned by any particular group of people, therefore if there is something that an African, European, Mexican, Chinese etc. doesn't like about someone else who was born or lives in America, feel free to return to your ancestral land because last I checked those countries are still on the map.
Class dismissed!!

For all you folks who are calling: "hey, no fair, black people say blah blah blah and no one cares, but when white people form an armed paramilitary whose organizing principle is that they are fundamentally superior to some other people everyone cries foul...." - you are sad, adolescent dummies. Stick to Rush and Ann, and the company of other people who suffer your affliction, and stop pretending that you deserve a voice in public at all - you gave up that right when you gave up on learning and understanding things, rather than having knee-jerk, hysterical, emotional reactions to whatever comes your way, like children ages 4-9 often do. Shut up until you've grown up. I agree with some conservatives in that children should be seen and not heard much of the time.

Concerning 'Chocolate City'--It was a term used in a lot of funk songs in the 70's to describe a place where Black people enjoyed living. It's been used to describe D.C., L.A., and more recently Atlanta. It wasn't a comment intended to "scare" Whites away. It was intended to bring Blacks back who lost everything and are "scared" of returning. New Orleans has a rich history (for all racial backgrounds) and had a lot of music/art festivals, cultural events and traditions that Black people enjoyed. Nagin was just saying that those activities would return. Nevertheless, it was a poor choice of words because people who had never heard of "Chocolate City" assumed it was based on the removal of and discrimination towards White people. That would be Black supremacy and just as wrong as the practices of White Power groups.

I agree. What Nagin said was mess up and rediculous. But let's see. #1 He apologized for his actions. and #2 We do have freedom of speech. And just because we have that freedom of speech, doesn't mean a particular group should go around harrassing minorities and still strive for supremecy.
What year is it again? 2006 oh ok. It is very sad to see bigots, racists, and ignorance still floating around today.

I am continually amazed at how stupid most Americans are. The atrocious spelling and grammar in this country is beyond my comprehension.
Yet, these are the same people who rise up against bigotry and racism. First learn how to communicate in an effective, intelligent manner. I cannot take seriously the comments of anyone who cannot speak proper English or use proper grammar.
There is no doubt that Mr. Walker is the misguided product of a racist culture, but if you are going to engage in a debate, learn to use the power of the written word to your advantage... not to Mr. Walker's!

These guys are losers. Their achievement is falling behind people of color and they are worried. If they were so superior, they would have got ahead of other people in a land of equal opportunities without having to declare themselves superior.
These are very dangerous people that can break apart the harmony and social fabric of our society. I think they should go to jail until they are rehabilitated.

Do you have anything else to add about Shaun Walker, (not Mr. Walker) & what he stands for?
If not, then leave us no spelling, no grammar, just read something that is disturbing & exciting all at the same time, & inn a hurry to beegin typeing & too heck with spelling every word correctly because we are more interested in contributing too the ACTUAL topic of discussion people alone. :o}

Racism refers to various belief systems maintaining that humans can be separated into various groups based on physical attributes and that these groupings determine or influence cultural or individual achievement or the essential value of human beings. The persons, organizations, and factions that still exist today should be dissembled immediately.

These charges sound so weak. "The indictment alleges that Walker and others sought to provoke fights and arguments in public places to make minorities "afraid to appear in public, work and live in and around Salt Lake City."
Provoke a fight? Huh?

Kudos to Utah, but let’s get to the core issue here. These people are NOT patriots. They are TERRORISTS. No different than the PLO, the IRA, Al Queda, Hamas, Red Brigades, or the Earth Liberation Front. These men and women are direct descendants of KKK leaders and their ilk who BOMBED CHURCHES in the 50’s and 60’s in this country. People back then lynched whole families and used the law to deny poor, helpless minority people the freedom they said was a God given right-as far as their own kids were concerned. The supremacists train in forms of extreme survival, armed and unarmed combat-okay, no problem, these days anybody with any sense of self-preservation does that. The problem is, these people recruit just like the IRA, disseminate information just like the ELF, and blow up daycares in Oklahoma-just like Hamas. Then they go home to our suburbs. They turn into the loan officer, who says you don’t qualify, or the police officer who puts your brother in the hospital, or the fireman who says he just couldn’t get your child out in time. They are professional, many are military trained(look at the photo in the above article sucking up to white soldiers). To be honest, after looking at articles like this, I’m a little less inclined to complain if homeland security and the NSA wants to mop these people up.

Steve, When will Bush and his cronies be indicted for cutting money for levee maintenance three years running, knowingly and with forethought leaving the poor people of New Orleans to drown, imprisoning them in a dead city for days with no food, water, sanitation, or medical care, dispersing them around the country far from family, friends, and loved ones, then turning these refugees he created out on the streets? Meanwhile he steered aid to rich white people and business owners, and GOP stronghold Mississippi. You and your friends only reveal your own ignorance of current affairs when you post such nonsense. I'd say its a clear case of too much Fox News.
Albert, Not everyone has the motor co ordination needed to be perfect touch typists. Some people are dyslexic. Their opinions are just as valid as yours. Your display of contempt says a lot more about you than anyone else. Get over it and join the human race!

Gee whiz guys. We should just all be happy that this guy is being put away. Instead it is causing all of this feuding and controversy. This is what is destroying the unity of this wonderful country! We can't solve all of the problems, but we can at least try not to contribute to them. All I can say is this is just putting us one step closer.

Although reprehensible to many, BEING A RACIST is not illegal. Bringing the full force of the federal government down on an organization merely because of its' beliefs, is a slippery slope.
I suppose that a state full of mormans ought appreciate that.
If this organization supposidly is linked to bombings, murders, and robberies, then why does the federal government have to settle for a doubious case, in order to prosecute it?
I hope that the federal prosecuters listen to some gangster rap songs while they are still in their prosectutorial zeal.

Anti-semitism is a pretty anti-modern attitude. The world is multicultural. Be empowered by working with the realities of daily life.

I propose that racist organizations -- like any other zenophobic, bigotry pandering and promoting organizations, whether ideological or religious or other -- are a refuge for insecure, panicky paranoids and exploitative sociopaths, with the latter finding the organization a convenient and irresistible source of income and power. Often the members relieve their fear or anchored sense of intimidation by demeaning, attacking and/or destroying those they fear and their things of value and conceal from themselves their own self doubt, usually relating to their individual social or socioeconomic worth or rank, by making a claim of superiority for themselves and right to privilege based on their group identifications and not on their individual merit. It is no suprise that these white supremacist groups are invariably involved in robbery, murder and anti-social, criminal weapons use and that the leaders live off membership and criminal proceeds going to the groups.
