Arrest Made Overseas in Holland Tunnel Plot

July 07, 2006 8:16 AM

Gt_holland2_060707_nrA man suspected of plotting to blow up the Holland Tunnel has been arrested in Lebanon, according to U.S. intelligence sources. The FBI has briefed the NYPD on the details of the plot. It is unclear how far into the planning stages the suspect was at the time of the arrest. So far, only one individual has been arrested.

A Justice Department official told ABC News this morning that the planning was in its initial phases and mostly overseas and that they do not believe there are links to plotters or operatives inside the U.S.

An FBI spokesman said, "At this time, we have no indication of any imminent threat to the New York transportation system or anywhere else in the U.S."

More details to come.

Fear . . . 9-11 . . . hard work . . . stay the course.

Did I mention fear?

Here's what I think:

1. As the U.S. flexes its muscles and bullies its way around this world, the world will like us less and less....

2. As the world likes us less and less, they'll want to bomb us more and more....

3. We have to set a better example in our country if we expect to effect positive change around the world....

4. We have to have good leadership to set a better example...

5. Seems we'll need a few more elections.

It's easy to sit back and comment on what our country should and shouldn't do and how we are preceived by other peoples, but what are YOU doing to change things?
No matter how "bad" people say the U.S. is there is NO other country that is being bombarded with as many immigrants that have a dream!

It's even easier to sit back and say that, just because things are better here than they are in most places around the world, we ought to leave well enough alone. We ought to accept all of our problems and not even talk about them -- let alone actually try and do anything about them.

I'm doing my part for now. The more digging around I do, the more work I discover ahead.

By the way, the illegal aliens are spoiling the very dream they're pursuing.

This is not whether it saves lives. It about using humans as guinea pigs with out their consent. Did everyone who was given this agent get a legal and binding document stating where and when it was given and how much? At this time we are going through the Vioxx litigation. Although it was a Godsend to our parents later it was painfull/horrible to watch them die before our eyes from a safe FDA approved chemical.

America is perceived as a country that bullies its way and strong-arms others. I wonder why... Could it have anything to do with the audacity it took to run over the ruler of another country, throw him in jail, set up camp in this other country, and then go about forcing American ideals on these people? I wonder how America would have taken it if the communists came in, forced the president out of the White House and then forced communism down our throats while the Russians patrolled our streets with submachine guns. Hmmm.

I am no longer proud of America. And the idiot we have at the helm is a disgrace to what used to be a great country. It's really not too hard to understand why most of the world can't stand us. I didn't vote for this arrogant schmuck. Do any of you really think the supply of terrorists in the world will dwindle handling things the Bush way? Because of Bush's actions, terrorism will be more of a threat than ever before in future generations to come. This is what we leave to our children and grandchildren and future generations? If Bush has done anything in the name of terrorism, he has fueled the fire and given people a reason to hate us.

Great job Bush and to you idiots who voted for this idiot. Take a country and flush it down the toilet. You probably all buy foreign cars too, bettering the Japanese economy while American auto makers no longer have jobs. Smart as whips, I'll tell ya.
