NY Moneyman Arrested in Teen Sex Scandal

July 25, 2006 4:50 PM

Epstein_nrNew York's financier to the billionaires, Jeffrey Epstein, 53, was arrested by Palm Beach County Police this week on the charge of soliciting a prostitute, a third degree felony. The probable cause affidavit for the arrest warrant filed by Palm Beach police, however, alleges some more serious acts. Epstein repeatedly paid young, and some underage girls, to come to his house, massage him and on a few occasions have sex with him, according to the affidavit.

Epstein, an acquaintance of former President Bill Clinton, is well-known for the millions he made investing with Bear Stearns and later on his own. His private residence is an eight-story mansion in Manhattan where he reportedly spent $10 million in renovations. He lent his private 727 jet for Clinton's 2002 trip to Africa and often donates large sums of money to private, scientific research.

According to a Palm Beach County Police probable cause affidavit, for more than two years, an acquaintance of Epstein and his assistant offered him girls as young as 14 to give Epstein massages in his Palm Beach home for between $200 and $350.

According to police, witnesses say that Epstein was naked for the massages and encouraged the girls to remove clothing as they rubbed his chest and back. The affidavit also says that on at least three occasions Epstein had sexual and digital intercourse with his "victims."

On one occasion, he paid an underage girl to engage in sex acts with his friend while he watched, according to the affidavit.

Throughout the encounters, states the affidavit, Epstein told the girls not to tell anyone their real age and to lie if asked.

Police say that a former houseman told them that Epstein received two massages every day while he was at his house in Palm Beach.

At one point, a 23-year-old woman was brought over to provide the massage but, according to a witness cited in the affidavit, Epstein turned her away because he thought she was too old.

Epstein's spokesman said he had no comment.

Wow. What happened to the presumption of innocence? Typical know-it-all comments from people who have a too black and white view of the world and are too brainless to wait before passing judgment. Maybe he did do it, maybe not, or maybe there are things we don't know.

I agree with Marlene! You mention Clinton twice in this and no other third party. I normally respect ABC News but this is clearly meant to suggest guilt by association. This isn't a blog. Hire an editor.

It is true that we don't know ALL the facts, and the man IS innocent - he hasn't been proved guilty! It is reasonable, however, given the facts that we DO know, to comment on the serious allegations and the news coverage of the charges. In my opinion, nothing more than a report of the charges against the man is appropirate at this time. Linking him with anyone that isn't included in the probable cause affidavit and/or arrest warrant is not responsible journalism.

What happened to the man who actually had sex with the young girl while he watched? Or is that not important?

Whoa.....This is Palm Beach Territory...The most Liberal area in the United States. This guy is obviously a "Liberal" identified by his close friends and associates. This is definitely a sweep under the rug criminal charge. Boys will be boys.

I like the FACT the Clintons are in the story. The accused pervert lent them his 727. I am not sure this is typical... a very interesting twist to the story.

innocent till proven guilty, i grow tired of this, he could be doing it in front of the press and someone would still find a way to say well maybe he did not do it..the rich get away with anything, that is clear, until the rest of us do something about it and band together the proliferation of sex for money from the ultra weathly preying on kids will continue, not only in this country but around the world..i wish the majority would see this for what it is, wrong and a crime!

This guy along with that other sicko Foley should do some hard time in prison. Possibly get matching tatoos on their foreheads identifying them as pedophiles.

as a child protective investigator for seven years in the state of florida, i have seen my share of older men manipulating young girls with money or gifts for sex. a lot of them know what they are doing is wrong but they sometimes are willing to overlook it b/c of the money. it does not matter if you are a teenager or an adult, it is obvious he is a peodphile and likes young girls. he has a lot of money and even if he is convicted he obvious has a sexal addiction to young girls. nothing is going to stop this man. he desparately needs mental health counseling. it appears this may not be the first time he has done this. but no one has come forward until now. i read all the charging affadavits (sunshine laws allow access to these) and he is alleged to engage in penal/vagina sex with a 17 year old and also digitally pentrated a 14 year old with his finger. in the state of florida this is sexual battery and if convicted he will be considered a sex offender. a tag rightly entitled if he is guility.

It's interesting to compare this story to the Foley one. It seems Foley is getting a LOT more hatred/vitriole in the comments section, whereas people are pretty ho-hum about this sicko. Hmm, could it be because Foley is gay whereas Epstein is just a regular ol' straight male pedophile? Why is there less outrage in this thread than the Foley one? People are sick hypocrites -- Epstein is accused of actually having sex with a 14 year old girl! Foley "only" chatted up a 16-year old, and he is being crucified. Huuuge double standard for gays vs. straights.

Dave,

I don't think the bigger fuss about the Foley case stems from him being gay at all. In fact, people are generally less "protective-minded" about teen boys than they are of teen girls. The reason the Foley thing is getting so much more attention is almost exclusively due to his status as an elected public official and the weighty responsibilities that carries, a drafter of legislation on the very issue of soliciting sex online with young boys OR girls, the possible Republican cover-up and not least the huge political opportunity this represents for their oppenents. We're talking the future of the country, who will have a majority in Congress to govern come November etc etc.

Since we don't know the "other" party to this sexual encounter and Clinton's name was mentioned and it is campaign fund raising time well...I'm just putting it out there. No! Bill wouldn't do anything like that! Would he?

Well said Dave. I second your comments. A wealthy playboy is not exempt from the law but an elected official should be even more scrupulous. Foley's behavior is very duplicitous since he boldly flaunted the very laws he drafted!! How hypocritical!!

Gays should be just as outraged as heteros by Foley's activities. He makes gay look like pedophiles and predators. I am very surprised that a gay has written to denounce a double standard. How disturbing!

Sex and HIV-AIDS

Global, HIV/AIDS epidemic constitutes one of the most burning threats known to mankind. The disease was discovered in 1981 and the causative agent was identified in 1983. More than 30 million have died. Roughly 14 million children have lost one or both parents due to AIDS. By 2010 it is estimated that approximately 100 million people will have been infected and that there will be 25 million AIDS orphans worldwide. By 2006 an estimated 39.5 million (34.1- 47.1 million) people were living with HIV/AIDS. Sub-Saharan Africa has been the region hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic; more than two-thirds of all people with HIV/AIDS are in this region.

The impact of AIDS in Asia is amazing. The UNAIDS estimated 8.6 million people were living with HIV/AIDS in Asia in 2006. But some AIDS researchers estimate about ten to twelve million Asians infected with the HIV virus, more than the total number of persons elsewhere in the entire industrialized world. Some Asian countries suffer from low per capita incomes, dramatic inequities in income distribution, and poor healthcare infrastructure, making it difficult or impossible to provide high quality medical care to those who need it.

first of all, another one of my "peeps" either running internet porn sites, getting caught with their hand in the till, and getting away with it. Pathetic waste of a little shyster who isn't turned on by women of even college age. He should indeed be bobbitized.

The other party in the scandal is the guys girlfreind from yugoslavia or something like that he introduced her as his sex slave he brought from whatever country she came from.. she is pictured in one of the articles...
This guy will get away with this garaunteed !!.. the prosecutor in his pocket assured that will happen by charging him with sollicitation instead of the real crime ...sex with minors.
