Saddam Ends Hunger Strike as Trial Nears Its End
July 26, 2006 10:13 AM
Minutes after his trial session was over in Baghdad, Saddam Hussein ended his hunger strike which he started nearly 20 days ago, sources from the Iraqi High Tribunal told ABC News.
The source added that right after today's dramatic session, in which his closing argument was presented, the former president had beef, rice, fruit, bread and a Coca-Cola.
Earlier in the day, while on stand, the former Iraqi dictator asked the chief judge to execute him by firing squad and not hanging, if the court is planning to sentence him to death.
"If for a reason or another you will be forced to sentence me to death, then remember that I'm a military personnel and should be executed by a firing squad," Hussein, a former field marshal, told the chief judge.

He should be executed in the same way and by the same people he terrorized.

Why should he get a choice in the matter? Did his victims get a choice in how they were going to die?
