A New Gun in Town

August 07, 2006 11:58 AM

Minigun2_nrThere is a new gun in town: a Swiss minigun the size of a key fob that can shoot an eye out, according to an Intelligence Bulletin from the Baltimore, Md. police obtained by ABC News.

Police officers face weapons of every description every day -- from "Hello Kitty Key Chains" that  turn out to be razor sharp knives to guns concealed in cigarette packs.  ABC News regularly reports on the phenomena. But this gun is unusual even in that mix.

It is advertised as the smallest fully functional revolver in the world. But it packs an outsized punch.

According to the Swiss manufacturer's website, "This firearm is a scaled-down model of the much acclaimed and mystical Colt Python with all the same features as are found on the real size gun."

Police officers have been advised to watch out for the gun, which fires miniature ammunition that could take an eye out at close range.

"The manufacture of this exceptional miniature revolver has only been possible by exploiting the incomparable expertise and latest technologies of the Swiss Watch and Jewelery Industry, upon which its worldwide reputation is built. Our revolver and its ammunition are 100% Swiss made,"  the manufacturer states.

Get real.....It seems the only real damage is to put an eye out, if you can take the time to aim and be a marksman. I think the same can be accomplished by using an ice pick. Apparently a body shot would be like a bee sting. So here we go again with the media panic. Enter the gun control wackos proclaiming there's another dangerous weapon in the hands of criminals.

Hi from Russia. You have masters.
One did it as an act of art. Which can shoot and kill only.

I think I'm gunna buy 50 of these, and go on a bank robbin spree. Cause 50 is more menacin than just 1, plus, think of how many eyes I could put out at once.

Yep, elections are coming and the anti gunners are digging for anything to get a Democrat back in the White House to push gun control. Brian Ross will print anything.

Looks like a new assault weapon to me.

This article looks like a Brady bunch press release.

Has ABC gone Liberal? It's Gun Control Activism Supreme when one has to waste time reporting on such an item! One can be harmed with a "cap-gun" too...if one gets one's finger caught in the hammer! Give it up...!

Gimme a break. I recall watching The Three Stooges many years back. How many times did Moe try to poke Larry or Curly in the eyes with his fingers? OK, so just cover your eyes if someone shoots that pea-sized revolver at you.

Please don't let the TSA know about this or the security checkpoints at airports will come to a standstill. I'm sure you could slip one of these through the metal detector setting it off.

What about those four ominous fingers? They've got a diabolical look about them.

Another brillant, award winning post by Brian Ross & his Sherlock team of investigators saving us from the dangerous world of Conservative gun slinging hoodlums whom might use such a weapon to shoot a liberal in the eye.

The more closed-minded will go off on political rants to serve and protect their positions but this is really more about a comment on the sad state of the world when the efforts to miniaturize a "100% Swiss made" anything, produces a weapon of any type. Having been in the field of ophthalmology for over 25 years, I can only say, it's easy fodder to make jokes about losing an eye - as long as it's not yours. The manufacturer should be ashamed of their contribution to the perils faced by our police, children and society as a whole.

Has anybody from the press ever tried firing a short-barrelled "Saturday night special" and realized how difficult it is to aim even something that small? Next time I feel murderous I think I'll start running with scissors. It's a lot cheaper and easier poking eyes out that way than trying to get someone to get close enough and sit still long enough for me to aim this little gun. Maybe I could sharpen the end of it...

The price of gas is zooming past the national minimum wage, the mideast is in full blown turmoil, we have global warming, hurricanes approaching, and a zillion other topics and you guys call this news? I'll never visit this site again.

Wow, I sure could have used this 35 years ago when all the neighborhood kids had bb gun fights. The cartridge probably holds one grains of powder, enough to leave a red mark from a distance of one foot. The most dangerous thing in our bb gun fights was to gain the high ground in town, which was the church steeple, as it was infested with honey bees and it actually had bats in the bellfry.

Oh my. Where is Moore and Sauros. They ought to be all over this one. Head line their anti-gun agenda with the UN. Ya know, doesn't anyone have anything better to do. Let's concentrate on the actual terrosists in this country and eliminate them. Though that little gun might look useful enough to hijack a plane or blow up a building. Let's put an all alert PBB out to look for these and spend enormous amounts of money on search and seizure. To heck with our energy crisis and $4.00 a gallon gas. I think that might be the least of my worries.

COME ON! Where is REAL JOURNALISM? Mr. Ross, I beg you the question... Is this newsworthy? Absolutely not! Let's begin to act like real journalists, unless of course you are not one.
