Divorcing Dennis
August 17, 2006 11:12 AM
The wife of former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski has filed for divorce in Palm Beach, while her husband is still behind bars on a grand larceny and securities fraud conviction.
Karen Kozlowski's divorce filing says her marriage to Mr. Kozlowski is "irretrievably broken." She asks that her husband pay for the cost of her attorneys.
Mr. Kozlowski became known as the country's most aggressive CEO, making millions for himself and the company. But perhaps he will be remembered most for using almost $1 million in company money to throw his wife Karen a 40th birthday party on the luxurious island of Sardinia, in Italy.
The party featured extravagances, such as an ice sculpture based on Michelangelo's David. An interoffice Tyco email described the sight, "a waiter is pouring Stoli vodka into his back so it comes out his penis into a crystal glass." The grand finale was a life-size cake that looked like Karen.
It was later discovered that he also spent company money on other expensive items for himself. An internal company review revealed Kozlowski used company money to buy a $15,000 umbrella stand, a $6,300 sewing basket end table, a $17,000 toilette box, almost $500,000 in draperies, a 17th century antiques and a $2,900 waste paper basket.
The couple married in May 2001 on Antigua. They did not have any children together.

... to be my wedded husband. To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till the Justice Department comes for His own, and hereto I pledge you my faithfulness.

Well, here is a prime example of the American Dream run by the big wigs. Instead of buying a toilet for that much, how about pitching in to pay for extra security at subways, nationwide. Did his wife drink the vodka? Are they Christian, God fearing people? Best of luck to capitalist pig, weasels who have fun off the expense of others. Let'see what fun he'll have behind bars. It's guys like him who make people paranoid about investing. Points go to those who put him behind bars.

Looks like money is not the answer to happiness and marital bliss. I guess that million dollar party is now an official waste of money.

now that the cash flow has stopped, she says the marraige is broken. gone are the days when the wife stands by her husband in times of trouble. was it a marriage or was it vendor-customer relationship?

Look at the guy. If he had not had lots of money, do you think any woman would have married him? yuk, he is one ugly man! That is called a trophy wife.

Well come on, I'm pretty sure something like going to prison on multiple federal charges will kind of make someone think "Hmm maybe this isnt the guy I should be spending the rest of my life with."

Consider this possibility:
She left him because he had 0 integrity and his heinous excess triggered her shame. It could happen! Maybe she wants to be honest and clean. She isn't necessarily just a big giant whoore.

A woman is not a whore for needing security. We're going to need some assistance during our childbearing and raising years. But notice how well women bear up their responsibilities once that time is passed.
She was smart enough not to bear children for this lout. The DNA chain ends here.
