Escaped Top Al Qaeda Leader Killed In Iraq

Omar al Farouq, a top al Qaeda leader who escaped from Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base last year, has been killed by British troops in Iraq, according to the British military spokesman there.
In July of last year, Farouq and three others not only escaped from the heavily guarded prison in the middle of Bagram Air Base, but the gang later made a propaganda videotape bragging about how easy their escape was.
THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS
It was a humiliating setback for the US military as Farouq had already admitted to being behind many bombings in Indonesia. On the tape, the escapees said they planned to fight on, armed with their new knowledge of how to elude US forces.
Farouq was shot dead this morning while resisting arrest during a pre-dawn raid in Basra, British authorities say.

There have been hundreds of al Qaeda members caught/killed in Iraq since the opening days of the war.
Whether or not the administration knew this would happen, it is the central front of the war on terror, with Pakistan a very close second.

I can't believe some of the posts made here....some of you people here in the U.S. aren't just naive, some are just plain stupid! Stacie is 100% right. That's what it all boils down to and women in particular should be very afraid. Should Sharia law become the law in western civilization, there will be no more western civlization. Women will be covered head to toe, tied to the home and no longer allowed an education. Husbands will be able and, often forced, to beat their calcitrant or "sinful" women. I don't understand how these liberal and liberated people can't see the forest for the trees.

These so-called "freedom" fighters want nothing more thasn to kill us if we don't convert to Islam. For those who got so angry at the Pope for repeating an historical opinion about Islam being spread by a sword, look at what occurre. For people who took offense to the criticism of being worshippers of a religion of violence, they only proved the point by committing acts of violence and threats of violence. Case closed. By the way, why aren't American Muslims and other Western Muslims protesting the violence committed by their fellow worshippers in Southwest Asia and the Middle East?
