Former Florida Resident and al Qaeda Operative Eludes FBI's Net
September 12, 2006 2:04 PM
A one-time Florida chemistry student has the FBI worried and working overtime.
When he attended Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Adnan El' Shukrijumah excelled in chemistry and computer classes.
But authorities say in 1999 he switched schools, joining al Qaeda and learning to excel in the handling of explosives and firearms at training camps in Afghanistan.
"Shukrijumah is a very dangerous individual," said Stuart McArthur, the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI's Miami office.
"El' Shukrijumah is a major concern. He's a trained al Qaeda operative," McArthur said.
The FBI says prior to 9/11 Shukrijumah secretly traveled to several U.S. cities to conduct surveillance runs, including Houston, Chicago, Washington and New York.
Justice Department officials say El' Shukrijumah was hand picked by al Qaeda leaders to team up with fellow Floridian Jose Padilla to blow up large U.S. apartment buildings using natural gas lines. Padilla was arrested in May of 2002 and is awaiting trial in Miami on terrorist related charges.
But even with a five million dollar bounty on his head, authorities say El' Shukrijumah has eluded their net.
And as the clock ticks they fear he will help guide al Qaeda to another terrorist attack somewhere inside the United States. "He has a knowledge base of the U.S. that he can share with other al Qaeda operatives," the FBI's McArthur said.

This all seems incredibly hypocritical to me.
Each aspect in society is in someway a product or precipitate of the entire society itself - in turn disparate parts influence the greater society which churns out more products and precipitates. These products come in many forms: social groups, political parties, institutions, etc.
With respect to Shukrijumah, and so many other terrorists, they make use of these institutions (schools) whose quality, ability to offer scholarships, VERY existence, etc. would not be possible without the contribution of each and every aspect of society summing to its current condition - creating the environment to foster these institutions.
Simply, society and its resulting institutions are the sum of all its historic moments, actions, emotions, etc. good AND bad.
How can you make use of these institutions to cultivate your mind and turn your improved mind toward the destruction of the very society that created those institutions?? If "that" society is SO bad why did you have to seek intellectual enrichment THERE?
The answer: other societies (maybe yours) did not have parts "summing" to create the same opportunities.
You can't embrace the color green and despise the existence of and seek the desctruction of yellow and blue. If you do, your "primarily" a hypocrite.

Man, what a bunch of loons...
Ever watch a football game? The defence knows the offence has a football. They know how many people are on the other team. They even know where and what the offence plans to do. Yet they still get the occasional touchdown.
Islam has been at war with the United States activly for about 35 years.
As you can see by the reaction to the Pope's comments and the cartoons of Muhammed it really is your freedoms that they are after.
You shouldn't be free to think, express yourself, or worship (or not) in the way you choose.
Are you part of the solution?
