Murder on a Roll in the Big Easy

Vic Walter Reports:

New_orleans_cop_nr_2Despite stepped-up police patrols, an almost non-stop series of shootings in New Orleans has left eight people dead and at least a dozen wounded since the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina 10 days ago.

The latest shooting took place Friday night and claimed the life of a woman who was a Hurricane Katrina evacuee and had returned to the city only a few days ago.

"The thugs are still doing their thing and don't seem to be fazed by all the extra police," said Tony Cannatella, New Orleans deputy police chief.

Last Thursday a man was shot to death in broad daylight in the city's 9th Ward where National Guard troops have been patrolling.

Police say much of the violence stems from street drug dealers and gang members who fled Hurricane Katrina and are now returning to the area to carve out turf sections of the city's storm damaged and abandoned buildings.

Ya know its a damn shame the thugs didnt get washed out in the hurricane. You would think if you survived what alot of folks went through after katrina, you would be at least thankful enough to shoot yourself before you shoot someone else.

PUT A FENCE AROUND THAT SEWER AND LET IT BECOME A "CHOCOLATE CITY" LIKE NAGINS WANTS ...... NO ONE WILL VISIT IT OR SPEND A DIME OF $$$$$$ IN N.O.

Nagin wonders why all of the citizens have yet to move back? Why would they given this further governmental breakdown?

Kinda harsh JL.

There are 13,000 to 16,000 people murdered in the US each year per ASK.COM.

Just let them kill each other. Just get out of the 9th ward, give the good folks the option to leave. Then just leave the guns and let the thugs do it to themselves.

JL I agree with you 100%

My favorite saying about New Orleans is that "I didn't leave anything there that I need to go back and retrieve". That city is and has been a sewer and an incubator for the worst dregs of society. Another Katrina there wouldn't be all bad...particularly if their corrupt Mayor and governing body stayed in a tent when it hit!

I cannot believe they want to rebuild the dump that is New Orleans. They should just wall if off and turn it into a formal landfill instead of the informal one it has been for decades.

With Afganistan being the 2nd largest producer of drugs/opium under the Bush Admininstration, I would say that they do NOT want those Thugs going ANYWHERE, other than to sell and distribute their huge crop of drugs!

One would also believe that with the "rebuilding" of the Gulf Coast that many of these THUGS could have found jobs, but by the Bush Admin. giving the Corrupt Employers RIGHTS to pay LESS than minimum wage, THEN on TOP of that they bring in IMMIGRANTS to do the work, then mistreat them, by not paying them what they promised; I hope this gives you an idea why they rather dispense drugs, IT PAYS MORE!

Thirdly; if people stopped buying the darn drugs, there would not be a market, and the Boys on Top continues to distrubute them to the Nuts who places their lives on the line and end up in jail! We should be focusing on the guys on top, and the people who USES these drugs, thereby KEEPing THESE THUGS ON THE STREETS!

Finally, with the Bush Administration, STREALING the US Treasury via Halliburton, LIEING to invade a country, MURDERING and MAIMING over 60,000 of our Troops, Hundred of Thousands of Iraqi's, I further state, Americans are focused on the wrong problem; what these thugs are doing in New Orleans and across America, is NOTHING in comparison to what this Bush Administration is doing, and MOST of the American People do or say anything about this White Collar CORRUPTION, which by the way, is RESPONSIBLE for the petty crimes we see on our streets!

Clean up Washington, and pay people wages they can live decently on, I bet you would see overhalf of these thugs off the streets. WASHINGTON, and the People at the TOP, wants it this way, you had better believe it! They keep us busy with the petty crimes, while they commit the most HEINOUS crimes, and GET AWAY with them, and our jails are filled to the brim with these petty thugs!

Ray Nagin is who they elected let him get out on the streets and stop the crime. His chocolate city is a stinking hole now and what he said about New York and fixing the big hole there was beyond contempt. He is an arrogant, poor excuse for a man. I would not eat or drink anything in NO considering they let all of the water and bodies run into the lake that they get all their seafood from, all you people eating and drinking down there, do you know what went into the seafood that you are eating? Yuk! How disgusting, I would never go there again...

Think that it is hard to seperate the thugs from the good folks. I think that the National Guard needs to still be down there assisting with the crisis. The people of New Orleans should not be deserted or there problems ignored.
