Arrested TV Bounty Hunter Gets Support from Network
September 14, 2006 4:45 PM
"A&E supports Dog and his family during this difficult time and is proud of his role in helping to bring a convicted serial rapist to justice," the network said following the arrest of reality show star and bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman today.
U.S. Marshals arrested Chapman for extradition to Mexico. Chapman, his son Leland Blaine Chapman and fellow bounty hunter Tim Chapman (no relation) were arrested in Hawaii this morning, a U.S. Marshals spokesman said. All three face illegal detention and conspiracy charges related to their capture of fugitive rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico in 2003.
Mexican prosecutors charged Chapman and his team with criminal association and deprivation of liberty saying they should have informed the police before snagging Chapman on their own. Mexican officials requested help from the U.S. Department of Justice in capturing the three because they failed to appear for a July 14 court hearing in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
Chapman and his associates were arrested by Mexican police shortly after their 2003 capture of Luster but posted bail and returned to the United States.
A marshals official said the charges are extraditable offenses under an agreement between the U.S. and Mexican government.

Instead of arresting him they should give him a medal for getting bad rubbish like Luster off the street. What a waste of taxpayer money!

What a crock ! Since when do we extradite people for capturing bad guys in other countries.
Posted by: John | Sep 14, 2006 5:16:48 PM
what about all the Mexican criminals that Mexico won't send back to the US?

Wow the bounty hunter was hunted and captured for jumping bail, what the hell were they thinking.
But anyway I and i'm sure many others feel that he has done more than enough for this country and for this government to let this slide, smack his hand tell him not to go back to mexico and let him do all that he's been doing to help Hawaii. Leave the Chapmans in peace.

For some reason, the irony of this appeals to me. I wonder if A&E will show the bounty hunters trying to explain to the bail bondsman why they skipped out.

Total caca he's charged with a misdemeanor, you can’t extradite for a misdemeanor

This will teach them to bother rich rapists

DEAR Dog,
Hang in there and know i am praying for you and your team on this World Day of Prayer, Sept.14.
As you know money trumps justice in mexico as well as the USA and these 2 countries are real tight right now as they have few friends left anywhere in the world. These 2 countries both excel in wealthy pedophiles operating freely and they both are soon to get their just desserts. Remember the story of the fox and the bush it hides behind will unfold again in glorious fashion and the fox will be hunted when the bush burns.

This is outrageous! Mr. Chapman and his crew -at their own expense and putting themselves in great danger- travel to Mexico to take down a brutal rapist and now they themselves are criminals? I urge every American to write and call the Department of Justice now to express your displeasure with this injustice!!!

Wait, they were arrested for capturing a convicted rapist? Man, the law sure makes sense.

This is a travesty. Mexico should be set straight in a darn hurry that Duane Chapman is an American hero. SET HIM FREE.

Ironic that he was arrested for bail jumping since he himself is usualy the one going after bail jumpers. Glad he got what he deserves.

I WATCH DOG EVERY TIME HE IS ON T.V. I THINK THIS IS A BUNCH OF CROCK .HIM AND HIS TEAM DO RIGHT AND TREAT PEOPLE GOOD .THIS IS JUST A WAY TO MAKE A FAST STORY ON DUANE CHAPMAN .I THINK HE IS A GOOD BOUNTY HUNTER AND DOES HIS JOB WELL .I THINK CERTAIN PEOPLE JUST WANT TO GIVE HIM A BAD NAME ,BUT THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AT ALL.THE CHAPMAN'S ARE GOOD PEOPLE AND THEY DO NOT NEED THIS ON THEM .THEY HELP PEOPLE AND GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO CHANGE.NOW THE ONE WHO ARRESTED THEM ARE JUST WANTING TO GET SOME ATTENTION FOR THEIR SELF.THIS COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED A BETTER WAY .THIS MAN IS A GREAT PERSON ..!IT WILL NOT AFFECT MY OUT LOOK ON THE CHAPMAN'S AT ALL.THANK YOU

Can we extradite all of the mexicans back to their homes. Don't we have a treaty for that. All they do is cost the us citizens grief and jobs and they steal too.
Posted by: Steve | Sep 14, 2006 6:32:16 PM
Put them on the first plane to Mexico. Right after the 12 million or so illegal Mexicans in this country are returned.
Why is this country so afraid of Mexico? Are we afraid they'll send another 12 million of their citizens across the border?
Posted by: Steve | Sep 14, 2006 6:34:04 PM
I support Dog and his family wholeheartedly. Why is it that in our country that people who obey the law and do good (citizens) are the ones who get hurt and the criminals and illegals are given a free ride. You go Dog! 100% Support from this Fan.

I find this utterly stupid that they are in trouble for capturing a rapist! What next? We should be helping to defend them; are we?
Posted by: Linda | Sep 14, 2006 6:50:06 PM
This is a bunch of garbage. There are people out there doing a good job for our Country. Now busting the 'Dog' and his son and associate is ridiculous. They have done something right by bringing a criminal to justice and now they are being hunted by the Mexican Government and extradited for what i say is so stupid. Well i have to say that the justice system indeed needs an overhaul. To the Chapman family, we in Utah praise you for all your hard work.....go get'm Dog, Leland & Tim......

What a really, really dumb thing for Mexico to do. Isn't there enough bad feeling towards them in this country? Maybe Dog didn't understand that he had to return No habla espanol? Don't they have everything written in English and Spanish in Mexico or is it only in the U.S. that we are sooo sensitive?
