FBI Agents Track Down Foley Staff

October 13, 2006 3:56 PM

Rt_foley2_061003_nr_1FBI agents have been tracking down members of Mark Foley's former congressional staff as part of a criminal investigation into the congressman's sexually explicit Internet messages with teenage boys who were former congressional pages.

Staffers have been questioned this week in what were described as "short, pointed interviews."

One former Foley staffer said the agents are attempting to determine if Foley's contact with underage pages went beyond exchanges of sexually explicit e-mails and instant messages to actual physical encounters.

Several former staffers have told ABC News they were unaware of Foley's activities.

Foley's Capitol Hill office computers have been secured, and the Department of Justice has advised members of Congress and Foley's staff to "maintain" any documents or computer records that could be connected to the investigation.

The priests are not trust-worthy because they sexually abuse our church-going children.

The teacher are not trust-worthy because male teachers and female teachers sexually abuse our children.

The congressmen (or other politicians) are not trust-worthy because those powerful people sexually abuse our children.

Who else are being left?

How come Foley isn't in jail yet -- or even been questioned?

Why isn't he in jail?
Well, there are stories that the AG's office told the FBI to hold off on this because of Foley's connections to issues close to Bush family & friends, which might be giving him some cover.
Plus initially, his actions were icky and the kind of thing a parent would want to punch him out for but not necessarity a crime.
But mostly because he's in rehab, which these days is like saying a "hail Mary" and you get forgiveness for what you did.

Has anyone asked if Foley had access to any classified information for which he might have been blackmailed?
I thought "National Security" was a priority for the Bush administration but they seem unconcerned with Foley as potential security risk and apparently have asked him no questions on this issue since his vulnerability to such manipulation has been made public.

The reason Mr. Foley is not in jail is because the Republicans are still in charge in Washington, D.C., and their desire to stay in power requires this scandal blow over so they can stay in power. If Foley goes to jail, the case will still be in the headlines on election day.

if you noticed the timing of the 30 day rehab, he will be getting out a day or two AFTER the election.

don't blame the priest for the Foley situation, they should be held accountable for their action no doubt. Foley didn't think, if he had there would be no situtation. The congress is to blame also for not stopping it years ago. Nobody wants to take resposibility for one's actions? WHY?

I have responded to a number of these issues on the BLOTTER. My question is how do I recall some of the issues I did respond to. Specifically the Kellog Brown and Root ambush in Iraq which involved a National Guard Unit. This was on your Blotter a month ago. Please help, I was trying to stay in touch with another respondee for additional information. Just how to recall issues after a month or so.
