Latest Jihadi Video Includes Threat to the White House

October 10, 2006 3:36 PM

Arabiya_nr_1A new video aired by al Arabiya television today shows an al Qaeda militant urging fighters to train hard and encourages training on nuclear weapons.

"Man has to prepare himself, starting with the first stages of physical exercise ... etc. to the highest levels of preparations reached by science today, to the nuclear weapons," said Abu Yahya al Libi on the tape. Al Libi is one of four men who escaped from the U.S. Bagram prison in Afghanistan in July 2005.

An unidentified man also appears on the video talking to a group of fighters and mentioning the White House. "If we train correctly for one day and the door opens and the fighting spirit enters the heart of the Muslim brother, [I] swear to God he'll be able to kill a thousand. [I] swear to God his soul will not be satisfied except [by reaching]...the roof of the White House."

The one-hour video is part of the propaganda war waged by al Qaeda and its allies in the Taliban. It also shows men training on different weapons in what appears to be Afghanistan. The video carries the logo of an organization called "Labbayk," which is believed to be associated with the Taliban.

Al Sahab, the so-called al Qaeda production company, had posted a video statement by al Libi on a jihadi website on Sept. 28. Today, al Sahab also posted video with old footage of rockets allegedly being launched against a U.S. base near Khost in Afghanistan.

Another Bagram fugitive is also expected to release a video soon. An announcement on several jihadi websites said Abu Nasser al Qahtani received questions from sympathizers throughout the past week and is expected to address them in a video to be posted online soon.

The increasing number of videos and audios being released by the different groups indicates that the media war is intensifying and that the Internet has become an invaluable propaganda tool for those groups.

When is the Bush administration gonna go after the real bad guys? Yet another example of a Bush failure to go after Al Qaeda. Why doesn't the President go after the bad guys? Why does he seem to almost want Al Qaeda to continue and attack again? What is his problem...these people mean us harm for real. Bush should be impeached for his continued incompetence and inability to protect this nation.

It is too bad that many Muslims are terrorists. This is sad . . but I am starting my senior years and as far back as I can remember, always the Arabs/Muslims
with rags covering their faces, and high powered rifles. These same men killing, even other Muslims. The Muslims call us "infidels." I find that interesting. I am sure that when they arrive in "PARADISE" they are going to have a real rude awakening!

Thanks Steven for your post. You have illustrated a typical response comming from Democrats these days - blame everything and anything possible on the Bush Administration. You should conisider campaigning for a local Democrat running for office. Can anyone of remote intelligence really suggest that the Bush Administration has done nothing agaist terrorists? Although I disagree with many of the Bush Administration's policies, the national security issued this presidency may be the only thing we have to hold off more terrorists attacks. Name one presidential hopeful for 2008 that will have a better chance at keeping our nation secure. I can guarantee one thing....it's not a Democrat.

Steven, What makes you think Bush is not after Al Qaeda? Hopefully, in raising this point, you are wanting him to use every tool available to his disposal to keep us safe such as wiretapping and listening in on foreign phone conversations, right? Or is it simply that you want to criticize him regardless of what he does... This is not my idea of "patriotism in a democracy" - at least you do KIND OF admit that the terrorists are the real enemy and NOT Bush, correct?

Bin Laden is too convenient of a boogeyman for Bush to ever get rid of. Bush needs Al Qaeda and Bin Laden to remain around so they can come out with a new tape before every election and scare us all into voting for the rubber stamp Republican congress (aka the U.S. Politburo). Why would Bush and Cheney want to get rid of the actual terrorists, when they let them justify removing the constitution a piece at a time at home and invade wherever they want to invade abroad?

To Stephen's prior comments, we are still sitting here enjoying our blessed life styles and freedoms daily and last time I checked we have not been attacked since September 11th, 2001!!!!! Get updated and stop venting your personal frustrations at our president, he is doing a supurb job!

Well we continue to lose American lives in Iraq, al Qaeda gets stonger in Afghanistan. Doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.

Steven,

Why would the administration want to risk loosing their strongest trump card in the elections, TERROR. From the Administrations Neocon perspective turning up the terror knob around election will steer voters to them. From Al Qaeda's perspective the longer they can keep the radical neocons in power the easier it is to recruit muslims who are ticked off at the US. Remember Osama's video release right before the 2004 election.

Why does Steven have his head buried so deep in the sand?

Try to be less partisan and view things objectively.

I am sooo tired of liberals and their emotional reactions and ideas on how this country and world should be operate. the biggest fear that democrats and the rest of the left-wing crazy liberals fear is the fact that Americans will finally realize that they have no logical or reasonable ideas on how to run this country. They want to tax us to death and make everyone of us completely depend on the government for every facet of life. That is the only way they can gain power, since basically their ideology is to take from the hard working Americans and give to the lazy and incompetent. and on defending America, they would rather talk even if they are getting punched in the gut. I fear out country will become a laughable state if Democrats gain power and are allowed o make the changes that will weaken this once great country.

Is this Karl Rove's October surprise?

Unfortunately, our occupation of Iraq has angered more muslims, and compelled many more Muslims to fight against the US. The Iraq war has actually made the US more susceptible to attacks. I wonder if all you rednecks out there in the red states are regretting voting in such a careless cowboy.

The War on Terrorism isn't so black and white, such as WWII, where armies faced each other on open battlefields and went at it. We're dealing with an entirely different enemy. An enemy which, I'm sorry, can't be beat unless we win the hearts and minds of the Muslim World. Good Luck.

Its scares me that Bush is so backwards on what he sees as security. The sooner he is out of office the better. I would expect even more attacks shortly after he leaves office based on his failure to do his job. I feel sorry for the next President. Trying to fix Bush's mess will take some time.

IN reference to Adrian A: In reference to the next president fixing Bush's mess, you hit the nail on the head. And I agree, the sooner he is out of office, the better. Great post!!!!!

Sorry, it should have been adressed to Brad.

Oh, oh. Four weeks till election. Time to play the fear card.
But the biggest threat to the White House and this nation as a whole are the reptilians that are currently running things and have been since 2000...into the ground.
Four guys in the desert threatening the White House is nothing compared to the job the 4 to 6 guys who work there everyday are doing.

I'm still waiting for someone to detail one positive thing that W.Bush has done for ALL the American people. His every thought and action is keyed to filling the pockets of the rich, the corporate sector, the military-industrial complex, and the oil industry. He and his administration built a phony case for invading Iraq and backed himself into a Middle East quagmire that he knows not how to get out of. The man is a total waste, and the absolute worst president this country has had in my almost 70 years. God help us!!

alittle mixed up on how iraq had anything to do with anything but finnishing dads project... but hey being conservitive, theres nothing wrong with makeing a quik stop in iraq to finnish up alittle biz on the way.. saves fuel rite ? lets take care of the objective first, then promote democracy when we have alittle more free time. binladen will have died of old age and his successors even more defined will take over... WELL!!! I FEEL MUCH BETTER. good evening and many more to all, and goodnight.

Letting bin Laden off the hook so Bush can get himself re-elected? Seems to me his chances would have been better if BL was caught him. Boy we have some idiots running thier mouths in our country. And if there are actually more terrorists now...they sure have been hesitant to hit on our soil. I mean it's been what now...over 5 years? Granted...if a Democratic leader is elected in the next Presidential election than they'll have the superior numbers to pretty much hit at will once the democratic adminstration lightens up on immigration rules allows terrorists to waltz into the US unopposed.

Bush doesn't want Ben Laden caught because he would reveal their relationship. Remember the plane full of Ben Laden family sent out of the country when all other flights were grounded?
Had Enough??
