Foley Movie Flying off the Shelves Despite Lousy Reviews

November 02, 2006 9:55 AM

Foley_movie_nrWhile he was still in Congress, Mark Foley appeared in a B-action movie that went straight to DVD. Despite bad reviews, hard-to-find copies of the movie are now in hot demand as word is spreading of Foley's forgotten cameo.

In New York City, one Barnes & Noble sold all four of their copies in the last day alone.

The movie, formerly titled "The Librarians" and retitled "Strike Force," is a thriller about the hunt for a kidnapper in South Florida. Then-Congressman Foley played a bit part as a -- surprise -- congressman who is reunited with his daughter after she is kidnapped.

Viewer reviews on the website imdb.com are less than stellar.

"This is a ludicrously horrible movie," wrote one reviewer. "It is not bad in a funny way, just painful to try to endure. Don't waste your time."

"Be warned," wrote another, "if you place this in your DVD be prepared to put your toe on the trigger of the shotgun you'll soon have between your teeth."

Local press at the time of the filming in 2000 said Foley donated his $466 daily union-scale earnings from the film to the Dreyfuss School of the Arts.

Foley also reportedly worked as an extra in the steamy 1981 hit "Body Heat" starring Kathleen Turner and William Hurt, but he ended up on the cutting room floor.

Maybe when they get done giggling about Foley, they can investigate why Republicans put up detailed plans on how to build a nuclear bomb on a website, or how the Los Alamos National Laboratory managed to lose flash drives containing classified docs detailing how to unlock nuclear weapons so they can be fired.

Well, this is obviously more important than discussing policy choices, or actual issues of importance to the American public. Good to see ABCnews has their priorities straight!

There's no journalism here, folks. Move along.

haha...
"wow.. slow news day?" Yes, you simps, its a slow news day.. apparently it's also a slow brain day for the commenters here. Did you not see the entire election coverage on the homepage?
I guess you also haven't noticed, this entire article took about 2 minutes to type up.. you people are maybe a little too ADD that you clicked on this link instead of all the other stuff.. and say "HEY! WHERE ARE THE REAL NEWS STORIES?" So... if youre looking for "real news stories" why'd you click this link? Go to the ABC.com homepage and you might find some there.. You seem to have forgotten that ABC is the news channel that started this story so any information they have on Foley they should continue to report on.
