In New Video, Al Libi Claims Mullah Omar Personally Leads Battles

November 02, 2006 4:55 PM

Al_libi_nrTaliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar is personally leading the battles in Afghanistan, according to suspected al Qaeda figure Abu Yahya al Libi, who appeared in a video released today. "I stress, I swear to God, he is leading the battles himself," claims al Libi.

In the 17-minute video, entitled "Combat Not Compromise," al Libi also calls on the "mujaheddin" in Iraq to unite, indicating that he's aware of internal conflicts there.

The video was produced by al Qaeda's "media production company," al Sahab, to commemorate suspected al Qaeda figure Omar al Faruq, who was killed by British forces in Iraq in September.

Sitting in front of bushes in a mountainous area, al Libi praises al Faruq and recalls that he fought and trained in Bosnia, the Philippines and Indonesia and decided to go to Iraq after escaping the U.S. prison in Bagram, Afghanistan. Both al Libi and al Faruq had escaped from the Bagram prison in July 2005 with two other suspects.

Fire shots can be heard in the background at some points during the video.

Al Libi urges "the mujaheddin" to continue fighting and not be discouraged by the killing of some of them. "Be firm and steadfast...the signs of victory have started to appear everywhere," Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya and Palestine.

"Here is your primary enemy...admitting in all humiliation that going to Iraq was a wrong decision," says al Libi, adding that thousands have been killed and billions have been spent to no avail. He says the U.S. will also discover that going to Afghanistan, sending forces to Saudi Arabia and supporting Israel were mistakes.

The video was recorded in the Islamic month of Ramadan according to al Sahab -- Ramadan ended on Oct. 23 -- and is subtitled in English. It had been advertised on several websites yesterday.

How did Abu Yahya al Libi escape from prison in 2005? Is there info on this?

Hold on a second. The president and his administration tell us they've seriously disrupted al Qaeda, having killed 3/4 of its leadership, and yet the organization has its own MEDIA PRODUCTION COMPANY? Something is seriously wrong with this picture, folks.

Repeating nonsense from terrorists rethoric as "news" only helps their advertising and makes the reporter and news organization a stooge for helping them promote the nonsense or lies or twisted logic advertising. It makes one a fool to pickup and repeat the words of a murderer. May as well repeat Mansion's words or other murderers words also. It just helps the murderers and their idiotic logic.

Once again Al Sahab can move freely
all over the map to make these videos and US forces do not track them to get the bad guys.
I understand Mullah Omar has only one eye but even he can evade the CIA with no problem.
Whatever happened to Rumsfeld's "special forces" who were supposed to go be able to find these guys and grab them anywhere in the world? In five years we should at least have been able to shut down Al Sahab
but apparently we are not really trying.

Do you think its really all that hard to put together one of these videos and hand it over to a news outlet? You could complete it in one afternoon. What does that have to do with us killing 3/4 of their leadership? Their "Media Production Company" could easily be just one man. Its not a very hard task (especially when he is across the boarder in Pakistan where our troops can not go).

Yes, sure he is leading from the front. That is why we have so much combat footage of this, right?

No, Mullah Omar is a coward just as all the leaders are and just as stupid. They send off the young to die and sit and eat goat and discuss the next attack. They hide like coward dogs. They kill the children of Islam because they are infested with the fleas of hate.

It takes one PC and an editing suite to produce the garbage Al-Sahab spits out. Not rocket science.

Al-Qaeda are nothing better than sheep.

Isn't it amazing that our enemy can quote the US Liberal Media, and half of the Democratic party to their benefit, and some one will pretend that reflects badly against the Bush adminstration?
The NY Times, provides propaganda for our enemies, and emboldens them to fire on our troops, and no one is calling that treason?
Tokyo Rose was never that blatant.

The terrorist leaders always say they are personally leading the fights, but when the fights are over they are never among the dead - magically leaving a half hour earlier. These leaders are never the suicide bombers either. When will the middle east wake up and see that its people are pawns to the dictators and wanna be dictators.

Isn't it interesting to note that Hitler ALSO hated & killed the Jews JUST as the Islamists & Iran do TODAY.Dosn't this tell the world to beware that we have now come full circle AGAIN.we need to come together to fight this cancer.
I wonder if the world will get the point and come together BEFORE its to late.

True. This is this why the RNC has an add showing Bin Laden on the screen and repeating all of his rhetoric. AL Qeada themselves could not be more happy.
