Update: One Bush Twin Leaves Argentina, One Twin Stays Behind
November 27, 2006 8:26 PM
As one of the Bush daughters left Argentina, a U.S. embassy spokesman denied reports they suggested the twins leave in an official statement issued this evening.
First Daughter Barbara Bush ended a 25th birthday vacation trip to Buenos Aires and left the country on a flight late last night, ABC News has learned. Her sister Jenna plans to stay for at least another 10 days, sources tell ABC News.
The U.S. Embassy Press Office in Buenos Aires, which had refused comment to ABC News earlier today, issued a public statement tonight, denying reports that embassy officials "strongly suggested" that President Bush's daughters curtail their visit in Argentina.
THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS
The e-mail statement from the embassy states, "This is false, as are other aspects of the report referring to the Embassy's position on the visit. The Embassy welcomes the visit and has provided close support and cooperation."
The twins highly visible 25th birthday vacation trip to Buenos Aires became a security headache, diplomatic and security officials told ABC News, after the theft of Barbara's purse and cell phone during a visit to a popular marketplace. Other public events attended by the Bush sisters also resulted in extensive local media coverage.

OK.You spoiled this girl's vacation

They are women not girls they should be paying for their own vacations. Did Jenna meet a hunk or is she still negotiating the 92,000 acre "land trust" in Paraguay? Who holds this "land trust"? American Government or Bu$h Inc.? Would the American Embassy tell these young women to leave because they are having too much fun? Why was Jeb Bu$h and Katherine Harris secretly in Argentina a few years ago? Why did Jeb Bush eradicate most of the citrus trees in Floriduh in the phony citrus canker scam?

THE STORY-THE PICTURES OF THESE TWO PARTYING GIRLS DURING A TIME WHEN SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE LOSING LEGS, ARMS, SPINES AND BEING BLOWN UP MAKES ONE PHYSICALLY ILL. MA BUSH'S BOYS AND THEIR CHILDREN EVERY DAY REVEAL THE UTTER TRAGEDY OF LIVING IN A TIME WHEN THE WORST POSSIBLE MAN SITS IN THE WHITE HOUSE. THERE ARE JUST NO WORDS FOR THE HORROR AND AS I LOOK AT THE FACES OF THOSE GIRLS THAT'S WHAT I THINK "THE HORROR, THE HORROR."

People in Latin AMerica hate Bush, so of course this little girls are vulnerable. Why are they on vacation anyway? many young people are putting their lives on the line in Iraq!

Stop wasting your energy trying to find some way to bring down these girls. You should be ashamed of posting those three, now confirmed, erroneous "reports" from that Argentinian tabloid. Your readers believe there is an extreme case of jealousy on your part.

Alot of people commenting on the blotter yesterday ("US Embassy asks Bush Twins to Leave Country") seem to just be commenting on "our tax dollars" being "wasted" to provide security....and calling the twins "spoiled brats" and such. I would like to point out that the twins MUST be provided security-- who among you would like to see our President being black-mailed into something in order to get his daughters back alive after being kidnapped by terrorists? I voted for Bush, I am disappointed and disillusioned by his decisions, but he is still our President. His children need protection- all the President's immediate family get Secret Service protection- that's the way it has been for many many years. So GET OVER IT, people! Chelsea got protection.....Amy Carter got protection.....just the way it should be.

Jenna is now in Puerto Madryn and plans to travel Patagonia, a local newspaper reports

Looks like your report was wrong yesterday about the twins being asked to leave. I wonder if the part about the ABC producer approaching the twins was made up too?

I do have to agree with those who point out the inappropriate-ness of frolicing fem fatals in South America while otherwise loyal and brave service men and women are eating meals-ready-to-eat overseas. It is, after all, their birthday celebration, but I do agree with Mari that it does may seem inappropriate to many.
As for "hating" Bush, that is a matter of personal opinion. I am a proud voting Republican. And like Dan and Mary, I find it impossible to embrace all that has taken place from that Oval Office since 9-11. But, what is, is.
And, finally, as for ABC News, using a critical thinking approach to collecting data and information from reliable sources, is hard enough without getting it wrong. But, please make every effort to get it right the first time. It's really really hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube!

I think it is horrific that they are traveling and celebrating at all!!! As we are all aware, it was "Daddy" whom has put all the other American parents thru hell with this war and he dares to allow press on how his precious daughters are celebrating a birthday. Only tends to add another nail in his what would be by now a million yard box!!!!

They should both be fighting in Iraq

Who really cares? Maybe we should get Nancy Grace on the case.

The Bush twins party while our son's and daughter's are enduring hardships in Iraq! The Bush twins could be helping their country's and our soldiers' moral and their father's popularity by visiting our wounded soldiers in Army hospitals and V.A. hospitals.
But if the Bush twins served in the military they might have to get dirty. If they visited military hospitals they might have to look at disfigured men.

I think it is very sad that so many of you think that just because these girls are the daughters of the President of the United States that they should not be able to "Vacation" or have their own lives. I am a George Bush fan and supporter, and frankly you people have nothing better to do than bash these girls who are out celebrating their 25th Birthday. Is this any different than these celebrties out showing their privates around (Brittney Spears / Paris Hilton) and whomever else to try to get your attention. Why is it okay for these celebrities (whom your young son our daughter may really admire)to act inappropriate but the President's daughters cannot go on a vacation just because our country is "at war"? Ask yourself that! All of our young people now days who are on television or singing on your radio are having a good time why not the Bush twins? Because their father chose to run for Presidency and win so they should be sheltered and not go away? They should sit at home because we are at war? Do you sit home and not go away or do anything because we are at war? The rest of us have to go on with our lives here in the states, but our job is to be supportive of our troops and President and country!!

Are the Bush daughters vulnerable? Well I'd venture to guess if they weren't before, they are now after the purse-snatching. Who knows what contacts are in that cell phone? Let's not blame the Secret Service. The Bush daughters are young and probably by request the Secret Service tries to remain invisible when they're out eating. Which is probably how the purse was stolen in the first place. Also, let us not hate the twins for enjoying their 25th birthday while our young men are fighting a war... have you stopped living because others are losing their lives? Think about it.

Just to clarify some information. 1) Argentina has been a haven for most of our Presidents and families for many generations. 2) Whether we agree with their father's position or not (I never have) a family member of any of our presidents has always been deemed of utmost important for security reasons. Our service people deserve all our prayers and attention and if you ask them, as individuals or as a whole, they would also risk their lives for the twins. 3) Let's not forget that the 25 year old twins are working woman (whether you agree with it or not) and are entitled to vacation. And 4) ABC's reporter needs to answer to security for his handling of this story. By the way, Argentina's press (which I read often) handled the story with less sensationalism than how our media has handled.

While I am not a Bush fan and I did not vote for Bush I have to laugh at some of the comments made here. How many of you criticizing these girls have got kids in the military or ever served yourself? Have any of you celebrated any events with friends or family since the Iraq war started?? Did you enjoy yourselves? How dare you!
You can't blame the twins for the actions of their father. If your father raped/murdered someone does that make you responsible? Should you pay the price for his mistakes?
By the way, I did serve in the military and I have lost friends in the defense of our country. I don't blame these young girls and I don't think that they should stop living their lives to please people who hate them no matter what they do.

Alright, first off, we volunteered to enter the service, these ladies did not, so the fact that they are taking a vacation is their right, even those of us in the military get leave, so I do not understand why everyone is getting upset... it confounds me.
