New Video Heralds 'Islamic State of Iraq'
January 24, 2007 12:12 PM
A 43-minute propaganda video posted on several jihadi Internet forums heralds the official formation of "the Islamic State of Iraq," and features a supposed spontaneous celebration following the announcement last October.
Watch excerpts from the video.
A group of masked men is shown pledging to obey Abu Omar al Baghdadi as the leader of the new Islamic state.
"Take us wherever you want. We swear to God, if you walk with us to Washington, we would cross the sea with you," says one man.
The video also shows masked men holding their weapons and hanging out of cars as they pass a man holding a black flag walking on the side of the street. A group of children is seen cheering in front of the camera. A man standing on top of a car reads a statement as the people around him cheer and shout, "God is Great." A sign hanging on a building reads, "We congratulate the Muslim nation on the occasion of the establishment of an Islamic state in the land of the two rivers."
The video also shows what the group claims is a pledge of allegiance to the "Islamic state" in one of Baghdad's mosque.

The new video is part of the growing propaganda campaign by insurgents in Iraq. The claim that the "Islamic State in Iraq" enjoys wide support has been made by al Baghdadi in a previous audio statement.
But the announcement about the establishment of the "Islamic State of Iraq" was met with criticism by the Iraqi government at the time. Iraqi Parliament speaker Mahmoud al Mashhadani said the council behind the so-called "state" deepened the sectarian divide.
Also, a coalition formed in al Anbar to fight al Qaeda in Iraq and the "Islamic State of Iraq" denies they have wide support amongst Iraqis. "This is a fabrication to make it seem as if they have the support of the people," Sheikh Mo'yaad al Hmeish, the spokesman for the Council for the Salvation of al Anbar, told ABC News of the video. "Iraqis are against them, and they hate them."

On the Brink of World War!
For Review:
9/11/01: The attack
Response to the Taliban and Osama in Afghanistan—widely supported at home and abroad.
Inclusion of Iraq under Bush’s “Preventive War” doctrine.
1) Sadam is tied to Al Queda and shares responsibility for the 9/11 attacks.
2) Sadam has WMD’s and is urgently seeking to attack America
3) We must fight them over there or over here.
4 years later:
Bush’s preventive war doctrine premises are revealed to be inaccurate and public support of war has predominately shifted.
Afghanistan is fighting a civil war with the Taliban. (With U.S. troops leading the way.)
Bush is still fighting and promoting the war in Iraq. (With U.S. troops in the middle of a civil war)
Unable to secure the peace in Iraq, Bush wants to escalate the war into Iran and Syria.
President Bush has concluded that we must continue with the military strategy for our future safety and stability. No negotiating with Iran or Syria. He equates withdrawal as defeat.
So as Bush moves forward with a military only strategy we will be committing U.S. ground troops to Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and evidently Somalia as we aid with nation building there.
What would we be fighting for exactly?

Freedom! Do you want to live under sharia law someday? Get a clue!

Juder its you who ought to get a clue. Bush has greatly helped the terrorists and the state of Iran and if you dont see that by now then I guess you never will.

When the history of this era is written historians will certainly attempt to explain the sheer mind numbing stubbornness of the segment of the population that chose fantasy over reality.
Could anyone have imagined that in the 21st century, with all the tools of enlightenment at their disposal and a proud history of democracy, American citizens allowed George W Bush to remain in office after starting a war for false reasons? And how to explain the incredible amount of sheer rationalization and excuse-making millions make on his behalf?
Listen to most any talk show and you can hear callers objecting to those that point out the foolishness of this debacle as cowards, anti-American, politically motivated and worse. Listen to the hosts refer to torture at Guantanamo Bay or Abu Greb as merely college style pranks involving forced masturbation, electric prods, beatings, menstrual blood being thrown on prisoners and threatening with dogs and wonder what has become of America and why the silence of the Churches and moral leaders?

Anyone who believes we are fighting for "freedom" is as naive as a kid.
If the terrorists hated "freedom", they would have bombed Amsterdam, not NYC.
The USA has the world's largest prison population, that's not very "free".
