CIA: Bin Laden in Pakistan Establishing New Camps
February 27, 2007 6:56 PM
In the most definitive statement in years, America's top intelligence official said Tuesday Osama bin laden is in Pakistan actively re-establishing al Qaeda training camps.
The newly appointed Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell made the assertion about bin Laden and his No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Referring to Pakistan's rugged tribal area, McConnell said "to the best of our knowledge that the senior leadership, No. 1 and No. 2, are there, and they are attempting to re-establish and rebuild and to establish training camps."
Until now, U.S. intelligence officials had declined to publicly identify, with such certainty, the location of bin Laden although he has long been suspected of hiding in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan.
McConnell's testimony came the day after the CIA deputy director, Stephen R. Kappes, flew to Pakistan to confront President Pervez Musharaff with "compelling" evidence that new al Qaeda training camps were being established on Pakistani territory.

U.S. officials would not describe the evidence in any detail, but people in the intelligence community have speculated recently that the CIA may have obtained surveillance photos of either bin Laden or Zawahri in Pakistan.
McConnell's public testimony was followed by a closed, secret session with senators.

Our government is funding Sunni-Al Qaeda groups according to Sy Hersh, on CNN.
Billions of US dollars missing in Iraq may be being used to re-establish and rebuild these terrorist camps.
Want another 911? continue to ignore:
-Afghanistan and Pakistan in favor of Iraq
-our covert funding of terrorists.

How is it that the intelligence hunter-gatherers know so darn much about Osama and where his boys are hanging around, and what they are doing, but darn it, they just can't seem to drop him.
Really, how many caves does this cat own? Just flatten the whole darn mountain or range for that matter.
I am starting to believe the propaganda machine representing the West in this dog fight actually needs bin Ladin.
Tragic.

If they can take his picture why didn't they shoot him?

Sooner or later the US will have to do something about this, one way or the other. Either Pakistan works with us or we go it alone. We cannot allow al Qaeda training camps to be re-established. The Dems ought to worry more about this situation than anything else. Hopefully, Bush can deal with this situation with President Pervez Musharaff's cooperation. Delicate situation calls for finess first. I have greater faith that Bush or Guiliani could handle this situation to a satisfactory result more than any Democrat curently running for President.

Osama Bin Laden is not in Pakistan. That is to obvious.
Osama Bin Laden is living quite comfortably in the family home in Saudi Arabia. Our esteemed leader knows this, however, he has business ties with the Bin Laden family worth billions. I leave it to you to work out.

Pakistan is a country that feeds, pampers and calls its mercenaris and militants as "Freedom fighters". where else will all these crazy lunatics go?
Posted by: mahmood | Feb 28, 2007 7:33:40 AM
UBL is in Pakistan, and he has been there since 2002. Now for those who say we should go get him, I say, why don't YOU go get him...to you it all seems so easy.

CLEARLY, Pakistan is the current home of Osama bin Laden and his No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri. And clearly, he has been hiding out there for years. It is also very evident that Pakistani officials have covered up, denied, and otherwise naysay this reality while all the while nurturing this relationship. I have just one question: How many BILLIONS of taxpayer DOLLARS has the USA paid Pakistan to perpetuate this ongoing slap in our face. Check my math, but in human terms, this little war is also costing us thousands of US servicemen’s lives.
To the point: WE CAN NOT TOLERATE BEING LIED TO ANY MORE! THE USA MUST DO WHAT IT MUST TO BRING JUSTICE (and yes, revenge) TO THE SURFACE. Show the world that we are nobody’s fool ! What is it going to take to have America wake up to this treacherous scam.

Bush said during the debates he wasnt concerned about Bin Laden and it looks like he was right. If we had concentrated on finding him and cleaning up Al Queda in Afganistan instead of going into Iraq the world would be a lot safer and the US would be held in higher regard around the world.

These comments posted on this website indicates the stupidity of people we have in America. Stupid remarks such as why has not U.S. military caught OBL? False accusations...Bush lies?...This one is my favorite---And I'll be Babe Ruth is there with him?..I mean just re-read your comments and you'll know who is making "false accusations", or if "Bush is lying", Where do you people get your information? The left-wing lunacy? Let's be realistic, The CIA knew and speculated that Osama has been hiding between the borders of Pakistan and Afghanastan. That is no surprise since the media spoke of this since 2002. Secondly, another problem exist, The U.S. military and CIA may not be able to execute Osama because of conflictual(War)implications with other dangerous countries such as Pakinstan and other countries as well as an "All-out-War" with the "Islamofacists" terror groups. Meaniong an attack U.S. embassy and also Israel is certain.People Think before you say something because we so-called Americans "Think we know" everything but we don't. Remeber, your enemy will defeat you in every corners of your life if you do not know your enemy. And Please George W. Bush is not one of them. God gave us a brain, so let's use it wise.

Get a clue folks. We have been bamboozled and led astray. Bin Laden's been dead for awhile. And 9/11 was an inside job.
Posted by: thetruth | Feb 28, 2007 8:15:18 AM
Most of you are pathetic. You see conspiracies where there are none and you hate based on political party not intelligence or reasonable, logical conclusions.
To those on the left - do you think you and your party are without "sin"??? What would you have done after 9/11? Specifically. What would you do NOW? Specifically? Details, please.
To those on the right - you are fallable as well.
It's time everyone realized - we all make mistakes, we are all human, and we all must live together. Instead of bitching or condemning, why not help solve the problem?

Bin Drinking....and Bin Smokin have been found in Pakistan.......their cousin Bin Workin has lost his job.....are we not fed up with this already?...

The reason why we are considered idiots to the world is because we are! We can never win this fight. That region has been at war for years and will continue to be for many more. These people are irrationale and ignornant and I mean both the goverment and the locals. We are truly wasting our time and putting our troops in harms way. Lets leave now and start putting billions into our security..borders, local police, ports, airports, etc. In other words lets stop being to stupid!

Please end this madness. He said, she said, I can't wait until this administration packs and leaves Washington forever, I really miss the Clinton scandals, they were more fun, don't you think..

There is a disconnect for any person that lives in america when they here about bin laden supposed location. just because they think they know where he is, they cant just call the local police and get him. these countries are desolate and about 1000 years behind us in infrastructure. people are so quick to say get out of Irag and get bin laden. We would have 50,000 dead soldiers if we went inot the mountatins of pakistan.

It is all too late. Look at all these posts here, most of them are negative about the war on terror. We all wanted to fight this war when the towers were burning on our TV's. When we were seeing people jump from them to escape being burned to death we were all thinking somebody has to be bombed.
Now, the war is going on for longer and longer because we are seeing that it is a WORLD WAR! We have no help from the world at this point and now it is us against it. Please people remember our people who died on 9/11. Keep that fight against EVIL going. It is truly Biblical in nature. Don't be deceived. Fighting against evil is what we should be doing. That is Terrorism, Iran, etc. We must do this, it is our calling of freedom.
If we do not fight them now, our homes will begin to be bombed, as well as our streets and schools. Then everyone will cry for war again.

If there is 100 houses and we do not know which exact one to hit, Don't you think Osama and his lenchmen will be on the run now from the latest news? Go Mr Bush. Do us proud. IRAN have you noticed your new neighbors on your East and West???????

Convenient. That's what this is. What amazes me is this is the only issue where conservatives and liberals agree- not finding Bin Laden is BS. Of all the things our military can do, how smart those guys are (yes, John Kerry, they're smart), the amount of intelligence we have, hell we can take a picture of a glof ball from space...and we can't find this guy? If they say he's training camps, why aren't we stopping him? HOW do we know this, but we don't know how to catch him? I'm afraid to tell all the people that want Bin Laden's head on a pole, marched down 5th Ave. that it's never gonna happen. The longer he goes free, the less important 9/11 becomes. And if he's dead, where the hell is his body? We can pull Sadam from a rat hole and we can't find Bin Laden. If bin Laden is so much smarter than us, why isn't HE our president? (Heavy sarcasm there) This is embarrassing to me as an American, the World's Superpower and we can't find one guy. They tell us we know, but we do nothing, indicates we know nothing.

If it weren't for the endless politics of Musharaff, who seems to be holding back (maybe for more money), our soldiers could stop tip-toeing thru the tulips of Pakistan and finish the work. Zawahri has a well defined spot of a target smack in the middle of his empty skull forhead. How hard can it be to blast him and that other SOB, bin Laden, into smithereens? Pakistan needs to get its act together already.
