Former CIA Agent: Foggo Betrayed Us

February 13, 2007 5:29 PM

Cia_book_nr "In an organization of professional liars, we have to be honest with each other. So if the charges are true, it's a betrayal of everything the agency stands for," Tyler Drumheller, former chief of CIA Clandestine Operations in Europe, told ABC News today in reaction to the news of Kyle "Dusty" Foggo's indictment on fraud charges. "It's a sad day for Dusty and a sad day for the agency."

"It was a surprise when Foggo was first appointed to the job by then director Porter Goss, because he was really not well-qualified," recalls Drumheller, a 25-year CIA veteran who said Foggo's promotion by Goss appeared to be a case of cronyism. "Porter was not a day-to-day manager, and a lot was deferred to Dusty. Foggo was extremely powerful and put in charge of everything that went on, operationally, analytically.  He even had a say over assignments."

"I feel sorry for Dusty. I've known him for a long time, but it's also sort of the sad ending to the legacy of Porter Goss." The former director has not been named in connection with any of today's allegations, but Drumheller faults him for "mismanagement and poor focus" during his brief tenure as the agency's director.

"In an intelligence service you have to rely on your ability to trust each other, so if it's true, it's really a betrayal. On the other hand, the fact that a senior, senior officer is being held accountable is good for morale and sends an important message inside the service," said Drumheller, author of the recent book "On the Brink," a critical account of how Drumheller says the White House "compromised intelligence" leading to the Iraq war.

Maybe this is part of the reason Bush is firing the US Attorney's and putting his cronies in nationwide. How far and wide, and how close to the Whitehouse do the corrupt war profiteers get?

We are losing this war due to incompetence and greed and Dusty Foggo is merely a grubby low level loser. Let's see Carole Lam set free in the CIA and the Whitehouse with full supeona power. That ought to make the professional liars at Langley worry.

Fungus hates sunshine.

People of America should remember that the C.I.A. betrayed America when it involved itself into drug-running and promoting wars worldwide!

Looks like the CIA was involved in both Kennedy assasinations but nobody in this country wants to revisit that, do they? A divided CIA like bushbaby created ought to thrill his daddy to no end...watch the MAINSCREAM media wiggle out from their mess first, put their drinks down, sleep it off and then begin to re-earn their keep with asking questions again...perhaps

Tyler Drumheller is full of crap. Sad day for the CIA? Why? Because the taxpayer is finally getting an idea of how much of there money is thrown down the drain in the name of national security?

Don't thanks the CIA for a senior officer of the CIA being held accountable. Thank the San Diego US attorney, Carol Lam, who was fired for pursuing the case.

I read Foggo's indictment and it was pretty damned easy for him to set up the deal.

The fact that Dusty Foggo became the #3 guy at the CIA in the middle of the GWOT says the CIA is screwed up from top to bottom.

Time to shed some light on just what the CIA does with our money.

The corruption will continue business as usual until we, as a nation, decide we want the truth and the whole truth about what our government has been doing in our name.

South Africa set an example with it's truth commission. Tell the truth and get a free pass. Hide the truth and go to prison.

And Nuremburg style trials for war crimes and crimes against humanity (DU-238 & cluster bombs, etc.)

We've got a long way to go to clean up this mess.
