Here in the US there is Law but it doesn't necessary means there is justice. Being a child advocate in the State of Washington for over 10 years, and being the mother of 3 victims, I am sure this man will never get what he deserves, as this State condones child molesting. Our only hope is that this stays in the public media.

I find it ironic that the "Judicial System" Can't find a more stable way to evaluate these sex offenders BEFORE AND AFTER they are released. These horrible things are happening repeatedly to children everyday. We have laws, but unfortunately there not strick enough; because, if they were maybe they would think twice before hurting another child. I was just reading these things that people are posting, and it hurts. I was molested as a child by a family member. I still love that family member, and I wish him the best that he may find a better way to live, and when he does, I wish him the same hope and happiness that I wish for myself; and I was the one who didn't do anything wrong. I realized after several years of hating him that I was still being controlled by him, and I didn't want that anymore. I didn't like how it felt, to be hateful. So, I had to actively work on forgiving him. I still some days have to work on this, but it gets much easier with time. And I still see him, still sit down at the dinner table with him during holidays, and when I look at him, I don't look at him with spite or hate or revenge or anger. I look at him with hope that he will learn how to love himself and other people, and that he too may experience the peace that comes from living your life like that; a life that actively chooses to love and not to hate. I realize not all victims feel like this, and I didn't until I began to heal; but I also know that having other people hate my perpetrator only made me feel worse. Because he did that to me, and it became a part of me, and when they said they hated him, they were also hating me. As a child, there's no way to seperate the people from the acts, and I was being condemend everytime they condemned my abuser; because at the same time, I also loved him. He was my family. I would need to see the evidence including the video tape. Law enforcement all too often rushes to charge someone whether or not they are guilty or whether or not they have convincing evidence. He was not arrested in China. He came from China to Hong Kong. When he arrived Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Police Force apprehended this rapist.

I know this guy. I know what company he works (worked) for. I live in China in the same city (Suzhou) he was living in. I have drunk not a few beers with him.

I just found out about this today and I'm having a hard time believing that he did this. John is a very nice man. Very intelligent. Not an ounce of belligerence in him. A gentle person. Down to Earth.

The papers say he was a computer consultant. That’s what he did when he first got to China. He said he had a company and several partners, with offices in California. He left that work behind and started to work for an innovative American-based tools manufacturer. No, I do not believe they did a background check. He was locally hired and his company (at the time anyway) didn’t even have an HR manager. He was hired because he just shows increadable amounts of competence in everything he did and said.

He had a lot few good friends here. He didn’t go to the bars all the time like some expats do, and he worked very hard.

A good teacher too. I remember we were sitting at a bar (about 6 months ago) and talking about his previous jobs. He used to work for a nuclear waste management facility. As he told his stories, he seemed willing to teach. He had a lot of patience.

Although I'm having difficulty believing this, one thing comes up in my mind. He told me he was divorced and that is the essense of why he came to China...typical story...lost his house, car, savings, etc. And now he wanted to start over. But the papers say he is married.
