D.C. Madam Finding New Limelight
May 07, 2007 1:04 PM
The woman accused of running a Washington, D.C., prostitution ring, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, is expanding her efforts to take her case public.
The week after appearing on ABC News' "20/20," the so-called D.C. Madam has arrived in New York for more interviews and an appearance on a TV pilot being produced by Time Warner.
Palfrey told ABC News she is going to tape a pilot episode for a new talk show hosted by Jeanine Pirro. Pirro, the former district attorney in Westchester County, N.Y., lost a bid for state attorney general last year following a scandal involving her husband's alleged extramarital affairs. She could not be reached immediately for comment.

Palfrey also says she is getting calls from book agents eager to buy her story.
Federal prosecutors have charged Palfrey with several counts of racketeering in connection with the business, which they say was illegal. Palfrey maintains her firm was lawful and provided only "sexual fantasy services" that did not include intercourse or oral sex.
Magazines have also contacted Palfrey, said the woman whose client list once included a deputy secretary of state, a military advisor, an Air Force intelligence officer and a now-deceased Justice Department lawyer. Palfrey said Vanity Fair magazine was considering putting her on the cover.
"I'm on a ride here I really have no control over," said Palfrey, who noted she had 10 meetings scheduled for her New York visit. "But what little control I have, I want to use to do it in as classy and responsible a way as I can."
Palfrey said she is donating 10 percent of the revenue she gets from doing a series of Internet radio interviews to help wrongly convicted prisoners re-establish life outside of incarceration. The program, the Life After Exoneration Program (LAEP), helps exonerated former prisoners find homes, jobs and other support.
Heather Weigand, director of client services for the group, confirmed Palfrey's pledge and said the money would pay for psychological therapy and vocational training for exonerated former prisoners.
"This is not going to be for naught," Palfrey said. "We've all settled down. Let's go do some good."

With all the political corruption going on with gasolines prices, health care, and presciption drugs I find it absolutely ridiculous that we except the media to waste any air time on this subject..When did "We the people" the majority of the population lose all the control to the political criminal system. I know its been this way since the industrial revolution, but really hasn't gone to far.... Stay focused on those three subjects and maybe the government will actually get something done that really has some true meaning to "WE THE PEOPLE."

What a crock. If we wanna legalized prostitution then let's do it. But right now, it ain't legal and this woman is a criminal (well- it's not PROVEN in court yet... but the evidence and COMMON SENSE thus far say she is). That being said, she should NOT be allowed to profit from this.

Sandra; what 'law' are you adhering to, certainly not any American one. A PERSON IS ONLY A CRIMINAL AFTER BEING CONVICTED OF SUCH IN A COURT OF LAW.
My assumption is you are a conservative, eh?

In the real world, the little guy gets busted also. I hear Cheney is in there. Bust all involved or drop it. The clients are just as guilty. Even in $3,000 suites. "We The People" was thrown out the window by Reagan.

Is there more to this than we think ? From what I read, this could go all the way to the white house and involves Abramoff and some members of congress. Blackmail is one way of insuring votes and loyalty. I also read that the attorney firings also involved some assistant attorneys turning up dead and all were involved in massive medicare fraud totalling billions from a company tied to Jeb Bush. Why weren't these questions asked of Alberto Gonzales ? Is there more to this than we're hearing ?

In the real world (replying to Bob's comment) an investigation has a TARGET. They take out the TARGET first. That's what the gov't is doing. Go to the source. It's the same "concept" as taking out a drug dealer really. The problem is, Ms. Palfrey is dragging other things into the mix and the gov't sees this as witness intimidation tactics (I agree). There is a legal process going on and the media's involvement TYPICALLY results in a skewd angle of things. They want ratings. They will jump to conclusions as was proven by Bill Ross' recent actions of which he did some nice backpeddling. (Well done btw) All this "naming names" crap just goes to further hamper the investigation and criminal proceedings which are ONGOING. Palfrey doesn't care. That's why she's doing it. She's "working the system" and our legal system allows it --compounded by a stupid public who buys into every "conspiracy theory". Ugh. Get a life.

Lets publish the names and phone numbers of the 15,000+ men using the DC Madam services and let them testify in the court of law.
It will beat watching pro wrestling or NASCAR.

This is huge really. I wonder how many people on this list have been uncovered by the NSA secret spying program? How many of these people in turn are being blackmailed into supporting the Neo Con agenda? There is no more effective form of blackmail than using the treat of exposing illicit sexual conduct...
People in positions of power will try their damnest to bury this story. I wonder how many upper elite journalist are on the call list too.
American corporate media and the Neo Cons will be the downfall of our American democracy.

this affair involves the U.S. Attorneys firings, massive bribery involving military and homeland security contracts, and potential blackmail of high government officials.
WMR can report that Disney and ABC executives spiked the Washington Madam story at the very last minute before new names were to be revealed on ABC News' 20/20 on May 4. For some four weeks, ABC News' special investigative reporter Brian Ross, senior executive producer Rhonda Schwartz, producer Justin Rood, and other staff and interns culled Deborah Jeane Palfrey's phone records for the names of high-profile DC area clients of Pamela Martin & Associates, some of whom are top officials in the Bush administration. Depending on one's definition of "newsworthy," there are between 25 and 100 high-profile names on the phone records that merely represent 80 percent of the last four years of phone calls -- 2002 to 2006. Phone records from 1994 to 2002 were not provided to ABC but they may contain the most important names of past clients.
The decision by Disney and ABC to kill the 20/20 story resulted in a shocked news staff at ABC News' DeSales Street bureau across the street from the Mayflower Hotel, one of the rendezvous points for some Pamela Martin clients. Our sources stated that Ross, Schwartz, Rood, and others at ABC tried their best to get the story out but were overruled by senior executives at ABC in New York and Disney headquarters in Burbank, California who, in turn, were under heavy pressure from the Bush White House.

some say madam shouldn,t benifit from her crimes but someone is benifitting by keeping it silent

US citizens have a right to know which politicians, lobbyists and public officials have made use of the DC Madam's "services". I, for one, will not be voting for any politician who has used her services. Washington needs to be cleaned up, in more than just that way. It's a hotbed of fraud, waste, misuse of our hard-earned tax dollars, cronyism and partisanship. Let's make our Congress actually REPRESENT us, something they've not done in quite some time.
