New al Qaeda Tapes Feature U.S. Capitol Under 'Attack'
May 22, 2007 2:01 PM
Al Qaeda has a new opening graphic for its propaganda tapes: the U.S. Capitol under "attack."
"The Islamic State of Iraq...March Toward Washington" reads the headline in English superimposed over a digitally created scene of the U.S. Capitol under attack in the introductory sequence of one tape released on the Internet this week.
Another from al Qaeda's "as Sahab" production arm announces "Holocaust of the Americans in the Land of Khorasan" and shows an image of the U.S. Capitol to introduce a short clip of al Qaeda fighters.

"This is a disturbing new trend," says Laura Mansfield, an Arabic expert who monitors jihadi videos on the Internet.
"Recall that in January 2006, Osama Bin Laden said that plans for attacks in the U.S. were in progress," Mansfield told the Blotter on ABCNews.com. "It may be that this new imagery is designed to motivate terrorist activity in the U.S., but it is certainly intended as a recruiting tool and perhaps intended to reassure al Qaeda's jihadi followers they haven't forgotten their goal of an al Qaeda attack on Washington, D.C.," she said.

"Is this really terrorist tapes or yet another made up form of propaganda put out by the Bush administration in order to use fear tactics and thus, get their war"
Bill... It's all a conspiracy right? Get real... We need to stop screwing around and get really serious here. As far as I'm concerned we aren't doing enough. We need to go out in the world with full force and clean house.

Are these "blame America first" fanatics actually Communists or just "useful idiots" ? I find it difficult to believe that so many Americans hate America.

We pretty much abandoned the war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan to start an insane war in Iraq. Why haven't we destroyed Osama and Al Qaeda as the President promised we would.
"We fight them there so we don't have to fight them here!" Are you kidding?
They don't have enough lunatics and resources to fight anywhere they want?
I don't have any level of confidence in the Federal Government to protect us now or in the future. Thank God for the NYC Police Department, at least somebody cares!

Question for everyone...
Would you rather be safe than sorry, or take a chance and loose loved ones like I did?
The answer is either yes or no...decide.

Keep your eyes open, your quite friendly neighbor maybe the next cell leader. Don't thik it can't happen. It is NOT "it might happen", BUT, "WHEN"...

Well, thanks to Pew Research, we know that about 29% of American Muslims are pretty much neutral to okay with Al Qaeda’s plans. I am certain that the 5% who are "Very Supportive" of Al Qaeda are glad to have the message in English. Oh ... and, thanks for promoting the clip, ABC.

Can someone send this article to John Edwards? He seems to think there is no such thing as a War on Terror.
Posted by: M D | May 23, 2007 4:18:24 PM
Remember, a majority of US muslims are assimilating into the mainstream. Only 25% of the US muslim youths support suicide bombings. I feel safe with that.

There are millions of Muslims in this Country...most of them speak ONLY english (of sorts) as most of them were born and raised here.
The purpose of terror is to modify the behavior of the target. Terror without communicating to the target what the goal is serves no purpose, hence, ENGLISH.
You see? The purpose is not to kill all of us, it is to convert those who will submit, and kill the rest.

Get out of Iraq like Democrats advocate and it plays into bin Laden's manifesto of then attacking America in America.
This is well known knowledge that attacks are in the process in Europe and America with plans of 200,000 dead.
It does not appear to be "nuclear", but the blast is sending a message it is going to be widespread and WMD related in Washington.
It is the propaganda they will to have in attacking US primary interests. They are coming and from Cindy Sheehan to Democrats in Congress they are to blame for this as Bush wanted to keep them fighting in Iraq.

I am truly amazed at those that hate Bush so much they cannot recognize this threat is real. 9/11 was being planned during the Clinton administration and I guarantee you that even if Al Gore had won in 2000 the attack would have taken place. Not to mention attacks on US interests that DID take place in Clinton's administration like the first World Trade Center bombing. Just seems the left's extremism, and yes it is extremism, in terms of hating anyone that might disagree with them is blinding them toward the real and present danger that radical Islamists pose. The threat is right there in our faces and yet the left in this nation can't seem to recognize it for what it is. I am not sure what it will take before the left FINALLY recognizes the threat. Maybe a nuked American city on a Democrat president's watch?
It's far more convenient to hate Bush, blame America early and often rather than to face the reality that there are some truly evil people in this world that actually do want to kill you.

Maybe it isn't such a bad idea, considering the garbage that currently is passing for our Senators and Congressmen.
They will be the first to tell you that there is no islamic threat out there. Sorry, I forgot Edwards isn't in the Senate any longer...must have been Durban I'm thinking of.
Posted by: David | May 23, 2007 4:23:26 PM
Ok folks. I think we got it. They attacked us in 2001 and killed 3000 Americans. They have sent message after message telling us what they are
going to do to us. KILL US! We don't
need the drive by waisting our time by
showing more of this damned propaganda.
We are at war with those freaks and they
deserve no recognition from any of our
media sources. Ignore them but find them, attack them and kill them. This war is going to last for years to come so get use to it and for goodness sakes media people. Quit giving them "air timie". Talk about how great America is doing in the fight against terrorism for once!!!!

Just another example of how the "War on Terror" is nothing but a "bumper sticker" slogan.

Hey Chuck, a couple things: This is not now, nor was it established to be a democracy. It's a constitutional representative republic. There is a difference.

Hey, let's open ALL the borders and let everyone in? Why be only concerned about Mexico. What's the difference...an illegal is an illegal whether from Mexico or the Middle East. Since a lot of people have sympathy for the Mexican illegals let's let them all in. The Al Qaeda could just come on in. Wait...you're saying no. Well, if you let the Mexicans in, why not the others?
Illegals have all ready murdered and raped some of our own and that includes killing a police officer.

Truth is, when it comes to Iraq and the war on Terrorism, the cure is worse than the disease. Sure, terrorism and the wanton killing of innocent people is bad. But war is a blunt instrument, and the U.S.-led coalition has killed as many, if not more, innocent people than terrorism. The long-term ramifications of that are: the unjust deaths of tens of thousands of innocent civilians; increased hatred of the U.S. for generations to come; poverty, disease, and the destruction of the Iraqi economy and infrastrucrue; the chiseling away of basic freedoms instituted by our founding fathers; human rights violations in the form of torture and lack of due process for innocent people; the gutting of truth and governance; the loss of trust in our government; fanning unnecessary fears in the minds of ordinary Americans which then is exploited by war profiteers to further enrich the gluttonous, privileged oligarchy of this country; misdirected Defense Department and contractor spending, funds which could otherwise be invested in American schools and health care. The list is endless. We should be worried that America is sowing the seeds of its own destruction. It happened in the former Soviet Union. Who's to say it can't happen elsewhere?

Hello, are you kidding me?
Their Terrorists, people.
Plain and Simple.
Terror is their game.
If they don't put the language of the "infidel" on the tape then how on earth will it ever possess the impact on the "infidel" that they desire it to have?
