Terror Suspect Called Bin Laden 'His Uncle Benny'
May 09, 2007 11:37 AM
One of the men suspected of helping the plotters of a terror attack on Fort Dix would jokingly refer to Osama bin Laden as "his Uncle Benny," a co-worker told WPVI, the ABC News affiliate in Philadelphia.
"He used to make jokes about how the U.S. government could not find his Uncle Benny," Bob Watts, who worked at a Shop Rite bakery with Agron Abdullahu, told WPVI's Dann Cuellar.
Watts also told WPVI that Abdullahu would bring in recipes for making bombs that he had downloaded from the Internet, and that he would experiment with homemade explosives that he used to remove tree trunks.
THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS
"Nobody ever picked up on that, that he would actually do something like this," said Watts. "We used to joke around that I'll see him on America's Most Wanted some day."
Abdullahu, 24, was born in the former Yugoslavia and was living in the United States legally. He is charged only with aiding and abetting the other suspects' illegal possession of weapons, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.

Thank you Phil, I am very interested in Ron Paul's ideas and vision for this country.
I will gladly visit the link you suggested. Thanks for the helpful advice. I will watch his progression in the presidential race with a close eye.

Let me get this straight. This guy was bringing recipies for bomb making to work? Who in their right mind would do that? It seems like he wanted to be caught or seen which makes it sound like this is another hoax and no real actual threat.

This Is all BS fear mongers another rovarian tactic

If this stuff is true, then they should be punished to the maximum extent, but I am skeptical based on this article regarding another government "terrorist" case:
Posted by: trs | May 9, 2007 3:29:21 PM
Delude yourselves all you want that these incidents are not "real." Remember 9/11?
Posted by: Arnoii | May 9, 2007 3:38:26 PM
If I had "Bin Laden" in prison, I'd trade him for a carton of cigarettes...
Posted by: Eric | May 9, 2007 3:48:52 PM
hey -- this story is great news!
by we Americans being vigilant, our home-grown terrorist have less chance in succeeding to hurt innocent people.
if only people would have spoken up sooner and louder of their concerns with Tim McVeigh, the UniBomber,VT killer, & 911, lives would have been saved.
now we know better to watch for another "shoe-bomber:
Posted by: fred | May 9, 2007 3:51:04 PM
If my co-worker came in and talked of making bombs, It would have been reported pronto, what is wrong with Bob Watts and the Shop Rite co-workers that witnessed this? We do have a duty and should not be so lax, stupid take your pick.
Posted by: worried | May 9, 2007 3:54:29 PM
My guess is that they will all WALK. All you have to do is mention that they are ILLEGAL, and that automatically gives them a FREE PASS. Poor, poor illegals, we are treating them soooooo bad. They can't make their bombs in peace and quiet. BOO HOO!
CLOWNS to the left of me, JOKERS to the right! . . . Stealer's Wheel had it correct.

I agree with the poster that our ability to respond to a real attack in our country has been weakened by the action in Iraq, which if you have your eyes open and are not just eating what they spoonfeed you, looks increasingly like it was planned well in ADVANCE of 9/11, using the deaths of 3,000 Americans to justify a war for oil and power.
Look at what happened in Katrina, and now in Kansas. WE are left unprotected against natural disasters; who's to say this bunch of bozos will do any better against a major terrorist attack? Aren't they the same guys who IGNORED months of warnings from their own experts and allowed 9/11 to happen?
Posted by: Gogi | May 9, 2007 4:48:37 PM
Let me ask you something, why is this co-worker telling it all to us just now??? Where was he before???
Posted by: Irine | May 9, 2007 4:58:37 PM
I wonder who he is referring to when he says "Uncle George"?
Posted by: Bill Hicks | May 9, 2007 5:07:43 PM
Dear Fuzzy,
Remember there are other crazy individuals that exist inside U.S. like the KKK. There are a lot of individuals that are not educated and are loose cannons. This is why it is so important that every American is provided a good healthy opportunity, education. I do have to comment that at least during Clinton's administration our economy was in a better position than today. This is a historical fact. Read, it is educational.

We are all ashamed that this guy is a Kosovo Albanian. He and the others should be punished. That doesnt make Kosovo and Albanians in general the most pro-US nation in world. We will eternly be thank full to US for liberating us and now for supporting our independence. May God Bless USA!
Posted by: Kosovo_Friend | May 9, 2007 6:23:53 PM
Half of these folks were illegal...where is that in any ABC news reporting?
Lean any farther left and you'll fall down
Posted by: Crusty | May 9, 2007 6:52:14 PM
All albanian from Kosovo it's same, you give him the home, board and evriting else and these people start attack you.We know this terorist attack wery good, scenario is a same.Like in Serbia frst attack mileray base after that will be start with car-bomd,rape young girls end other staff.Me and may femily are very scary, bicouse I cann't trust these albanians from kosovo in the USA.

This story is a reminder that we must all be vigilant. Extremism is a sickness that unfortunately cannot be cured, and we must acknowledge that it exists everywhere. When you look at the common people - every where - we want to survive - enjoy our families, and little else; except for the 1% who live for hate and destruction. Good luck to all of the common people
Posted by: Gene | May 9, 2007 7:11:09 PM
It's an irony that U.S. had helped Kosovo Albanians in their fight against regular Serbian troops. Now U.S. is in the same position as Serbia in 1999. Call your representatives and tell them that independent Kosovo, as base for radical Islam, is threat not just for Europe, but for the U.S. as well.
Posted by: Marko | May 9, 2007 7:14:07 PM
Serb stop trying to post propaganda we all know very well about the genocide that was committed by Milosevics regime in the Balkans. Dave I couldn't agree with you more i was just speaking to an Albanian friend of mine who i met from the time i was in the region, i have continued to still keep in touch & he said the same thing & he said most Albanians believe all of the plotters should be executed and be made an example of... We need strengthen our allies in the war on terror we must stay & fight united against the war on terror.

Dear abc news and people of the world, terror is a big thing in this world after 911 happend. I am from kosova, but a citizen in new york. i have a good job a wonderful wife and good parents. everyone should not judge anyone because of a stupid act like that, because u must remeber that everyone, or anyone can be a terrorist no matter what race they are. Look at the verginia school shooting 31 people killed by an orental kid that is an act of terrorizum, gangs , drugs murder rape by our own citizens in america is terrorizum, its has no face when it comes to the meaning of terrorizum. I think everyone has a bit of terrorizum in there selves, kosova is a peaceful land in europe thats all it should be thought of. thank you abc news

Months??? No we were warned in 1996 that 9/11 was gonna happen in fact it was reported by CNN. Now that information is "classified." Looks likes everyone even Bill Clinton dropped the ball on this one.
Posted by: UomodiRispetto | May 9, 2007 9:46:31 PM
Not that this should be relevant but these guys were not from Kosova. They are originally from Macedonia. One of them did claim he's from Kosova in order to sneak in the country, but he's not from Kosova either. As a matter of fact, I heard tat three of them use to live in NY before 99'. Their father moved them to NJ because he wanted to keep them out of trouble. I guess that did't work.

Wake up and let's cut out the political correctness. We are at war with Islam. In the past we had wars with nation-states this war is diferent and more like those of ancient times. Remember Al Queda, the Palestinians and other Muslims refer to us as "Crusaders". Not all Muslims are terrorists, some who live here are glad to have escaped the insanity of their homelands but almost every act of violence directed at us is from Muslims with a religious agenda.
Posted by: Mickey | May 10, 2007 4:24:57 AM
Just why in the hell did the co-workers at the Shop Rite Bakery not go to law enforcement about this muslim downloading explosive recipes? Seems a lot of americans are still just plain dumb as well. the shop rite employees that knew of this should be hauled in for some "education" in the local cooler for a few days.

Hey, Maybe Uncle Benny will write to him in prison and then we'll catch him!....Yeah..Right.
Posted by: Karla | May 10, 2007 9:15:44 AM
Amazing that terrorist walk across our border and liberals complain about putting up a fence to protect the USA!
If you read further about these terrorist Clintons plans to bring in refuges from the middle east and patriate them at Fort dix in the 90's included two of these terrorists from Albiania!
It's amazing we are at war with terrorists across the world, and the liberals in the media and the house and senate want to open our borders, except the KORAN, want to treat terrorism as joke, they want the USA to lose in Iraq, the want to cut off funds to the military, and are adding Global warming to our National Security bills? What wrong with this picture?
Posted by: james | May 10, 2007 11:02:28 AM
This fool should not be sent to prison for life. He should be sent to prison, military, for a long period. Then he should be sent back to his country of origin. If it no longer exists, too bad.
Posted by: Kim Workman | May 10, 2007 11:11:00 AM
I am surprised at many of the comments I read here. I don't intend to insult anyone, but some comments are extremely ignorant. No one is from Albania. Kosova, Macedonia, nor any other part of the former Yugoslavia is a part of Albania. Islam is not the cause. It is all political. People always need someone to hate. Japan, Germany, Russia, now Islam in general. Who is next? Perhaps the Jews? Maybe Buddhists? Hey what about North Korea? They're not like us. No one is trying to force religion on anyone. And this particular group of brothers have been in this country at least 20 years. Clinton was not President then. Am I the only college educated person here? Common sense should be elementary. What I mean is, read and learn before you make unsupported statements. Kim, I agree these guys need to grow up in the harshest way, but whatever country you're referring to, it still exists. They are from Debra, Macedonia. The Duka family is a large-size known family. They live all over NY; where these guys grew up. That's right, they lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn since the youngest was about less than a year old. The oldest is married to an American, and has children with her. What they are is extremely immature.

The Gang Who Couldn't Think Straight
I am sure there are a few ex-military folks who will be awaiting their arrival into the Federal prison system - Life just got rough, fellas
Posted by: Carlos | May 11, 2007 11:10:46 AM
9/11 undoubtedly confirmed the extent to which others will go to harm the interests of the United States; about this there is no doubt. George Bush, Rove, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Rumsfield fed into legitimate concerns about terrorism and mired out country in a sinkhole of duplicity that is getting deeper and deeper.
The people who were picked up for planning an attack on a military installation should undoubtedly be "questioned aggressively" to assure full understanding of their possible motives. At the same time they should be not be treated like "enemy combatants" and subjected to the torture tactics employed in Guatanamo.
Unfortunately, the Bush administration just can't be trusted to be objective and fair in communicating their concerns about terrorism. It's no wonder that the president has only a 30% (or lower) approval rating. It's sad.

I think all terror ploting terrorist that are cought ploting or in the makeing of should be sent to prison for life. If not when the get out they will just be more against the u.s. when they get out they might do it again but this time it will be too late. What about our children what type of path are we setting for them?????????
Posted by: shannen | May 11, 2007 12:21:32 PM
Sounds like Bush and Cheney are starting their fear mongering again. I seriously doubt these guys were going to do anything or were anything more than fantasists, but with the UNPatriot Act, their telephones were tapped, computers bugged, etc. The fear of terror is a great way to divert from the real issues like univeral healthcare, withdrawing from Iraq and amnesty for undocumented workers.
Posted by: Leftandproud | May 11, 2007 7:14:26 PM
He called OBL his Uncle Ben? And this deserves space on ABC news? People, wake up. Open a window. Go outside. You're so in love with your fear it makes me shiver.
Ooh, there are terrorists. Ooh, they hate our FREEDOMS. What, are you all twelve years old? Grow some critical thinking skills and move out of this fearful hunter-gatherer mindset the media has you locked into.
I'll check back tomorrow. I expect to see some progress.
:-)

So this guy Watts...works with a Middle Eastern man who calls Osama his Uncle Bennie, and who brings to work directions on how to make bombs. And neither he, nor his co-workers, becomes suspicious or say anything? We're doomed!
