Wife of Former FBI Agent: 'Living a Nightmare'

May 07, 2007 3:06 PM

Wife_of_missing_mn A week after the family of former FBI agent Robert Levinson was told he might be released from Iranian custody, his whereabouts remain unknown.

"Right now we are living a nightmare," his wife, Christine, told the Associated Press.

"We are aware of all the rumors out there which have raised our hopes, only to have them crushed by the reality that we still have no new information," she said.

Levinson disappeared two months ago after traveling to the Iranian island of Kish to meet with an American fugitive wanted for the murder of a former Iranian diplomat in suburban Washington, D.C., in 1980.

Last week, the family said it had reports from two sources in Tehran that Levinson would be released as "a sign of goodwill" in advance of the meeting of foreign ministers in Egypt.

But the family heard nothing further.

Iran has officially denied any knowledge of what happened to Levinson, a position repeated by officials to ABC News at the Egyptian foreign ministers' meeting.

Levinson, who left the FBI more than 10 years ago, worked as a private investigator, often collaborating with journalists, including ABC News.

I hope he is like a real life Alias character and saves the USA from those who hate US.

I am saddened by his and his families suffering, and that others who are against the war would say such mean things.

Jish:

Why would you (or anyone,) want this? You identify yourself as somone who favors terrorism against the US by taking this position. Is this really who you are and who you want to be?

I am a person who wishes no ill will for anyone, no matter what they do or believe. Too many people have suffered already. Anger and fear get us nowhere. Isn't that obvious?

What do you think he was REALLY doing in IRAN? You have to be kidding. If you think the US doesn't have any operatives over there now, you're living in a dream world. He knew the risks and he got busted. Now we, the taxpayers are again, bailing the stupid military intelligence out of another fine fix. When will they ever learn.

The way to a better life is wishing everything that is pure, honest, and lovely for EVERYONE around us.

Estaban,

If you had read the story carefully you would have seen that he was not functioning as an operative of the gov't.

dj, dont be so arrogantly foolish...just because the story says the government said that he is not employed means nothing...lol...
