Iraqi Insurgents Claim to Have Killed Missing Soldiers

June 04, 2007 9:23 AM

New_video_shows_mnAn Iraqi insurgent group says it has killed two missing American soldiers who they said had been captured alive.

According to a full translation of a ten-minute video released by the group earlier today, the group claims the soldiers would have survived had the U.S. Army not done the search in such a way that included random arrests and humiliation of Muslims.

The speaker in the video also said the bodies of the soldiers will be buried and not turned over to the U.S. Army.

The group, Islamic State of Iraq, posted the videotape on the Internet today showing what it said were the military ID cards and other personal items of the two U.S. soldiers believed to have been captured last month in Iraq.

Watch the Video With the Missing U.S. Soldiers' IDs

The tape does not include any images of the two soldiers, Byron Fouty, 19, of Waterford Mich., and Alex Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass. Words in Arabic flashed over the IDs say, "Bush is responsible for capture of your soldiers."

There were no ransom demands or further details about the status of the two men who have been the subject of a massive search operation by U.S. troops in Iraq.

In addition to the military IDs, the tape also shows a red-colored Visa credit card, a yellow-colored MasterCard and what appears to be a New York state driver's license. There is also a shot of a small white crucifix, what could be the chains of a dog tag and U.S. currency.

The ten-and-a-half minute video also shows what is purported to be the planning for the attack  outside Baghdad on May 12 when the two men were reportedly captured.

People forget to look at history, war is not a bunch of guys running around with paintball guns. It is a dirty, nasty thing that people are killed in many ways. The German SS massacred U.S. troops at Malmady
and the Japanese were not prone to treating Allied POW's anywhere near the rules of the Geneva Convention.

Sadly we have become a country of "blame someone", "don't fight your enemy if you can't win EVERY battle", we talk about bad ideas without any real input of effort or ideas of our own.
Lets fight the war on terror where ever the enemy choses to battle us, forget the idea of instant success, sacrifice free feel good win every battle approach. God Bless all Civilized people.

LA said, "the Bush Administration thru its actions/torture in Abu Ghraib, Haditha, Guantanamo and all the other illegal acts such as rendition has made it acceptable and given the terrosrists a green light to do the same and worse".
What a freakin'moron! If you really believe Abu Ghraib (which was not sanctioned by the US government)et al is justification for decapitation of our soldiers then you are one sick SOB. When they come to cut your head off, just tell them you were on their side all along. At least they'll get a good laugh before they relieve you of your apparently empty head.

JCH 51223, I have a better idea, why don't you take your sorry ass to Iraq to fight. Loser.

Hoff thank you.. Finally words of wisdom from someone who has been there and seen the truth. I wish all the rest of the people would open their eyes and realize that there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq before the war and Iraq had nothing to do with 911 and Iraq never attacked the USA. We just went over there and destroyed the country and pissed of the rest of the world. We now have a 1000 times more terrorists and the rest of the world hates us. JCH51223 you go to Iraq and lets see what you can do..

Anita is right, that is the purpose of the posting of our captured men, to terrorize us and make us turn tail and run. It is working as we see the turntails turn against the president and their own country and praise the Terrorists. They think that in doing so they will save their own cowardly skins, but they are wrong. When the enemy takes over the USA, they and their children will be among the dead. All of us need to pray for our troops, our president and that our country can survive Terrorism. Oh but I forgot, the ones who love and support Terrorism, do not love God or even believe in Him, so how can they pray?

Posted by: BJ Colbert | Jun 4, 2007 10:27:38 AM

.do we ever think of Praying for Bush and all the Governmental leaders regardless of political party. Prayer will accomplish the miracles, not our complaining. We can even pray for the terrorists, that they may change, for ourselves that we change.

No, I am a rational thinker. Bush and his alleged conversations with GOD are what got us in this mess. Hmmmmm, he does appear to be dyslectic, maybe his conversations were actually with a DOG. It wouldn't be the fist time shrub got things backwards

Are these the rules of engagement under the Geneva Convention? Where are the voices of the UN or the Democratic leaders or the news media? Let our troops do what they have to do to defeat the terrorists.
Well said BJ Colbert.

Roberto the only empty head is yours. All the items i mentioned are caused directly or indirectly by the Bush Administration, the invasion of Iraq, Guantanamo, Renditions, Abu Ghraib, Haditha. None of those issues existed before Bush, the leader has to take responsibility for the actions of his troops and employees. This is a fact and Bush has to take responsibility for this mess, he put our troops in harms way and he and his cronies Rumsfeld, Condy, Chaney, Pearl etc are responsible for these actions. The buck stops with Bush. Quit passing it around...

It's not about Bush, it's about war and the way people conduct themselves in war. I will continue to pray that these young soldiers, alive or finally at peace, along with the British captives, will be able to come home to their families, and to seek grace and support for their families here.

I feel sad for the blatant disregard for our military resources. I'd love to see Bush and his daughters in their place. I love Republicans, but I just wish they'd stop looking at this as a Democrat vs. Republican issue and focus on what's right and not ignore the wrongs. I was a Republican until Bush ruined everything I loved about this country. He took away our freedoms and threw our own economy into the crapper all while touting "9/11." I fear for the future of America and I stand behind anyone who will bring our troops home. Again: Bush doesn't care about our troops, he only cares about his personal agendas and uses our military resources for his own (and his friends') financial gains.

I am a Conservative who initially supported this war based on the information that our govt provided to us.

Sadly, it now seems that Bush and his administration did willingly mislead us. My support was based on a belief that Iraq posed an imminent danger to our security because of WMD stockpiles. Based on the testimony of some who were part of the administration at the time, we knowingly oversold the WMD case.

I'm not naive. I understand that military action is a useful and necessary tool at the disposal of the President. But only as a last resort. This was not the last resort.

If the President wants to take my son, who is now 18 years old, and send him to die for his country, he had better damned well be able to look me in the eye and say, "I'm sorry but there is no other choice."

This was NOT the case and over 3,000 Americans have died because we were mislead. Be honest. Had you known that what we know now(and the administration knew then, would you have supported taking this action?

This will be Bush's legacy. Deservedly so.

The terrorist Killers are responsible for kidnapping and sadly torturing our brave soldiers. Wouldn't it be nice if they only put underwear on our troops and put a leash on them. Sadly, these savage killers only know one thing, cowardly, excuse driven torture and murder. Where is the outrage over their torture tactics? Where is the outrage over the torture house recently uncovered. Instead, we rely on blaming Bush and Cheney. How about putting the relentless Bush hatred into outrage and condemnation of these Islamo Fascist Killers. Maybe we are afraid these truths will upset someone's feelings?

I am waiting to hear the real outrage...

What are we doing there? Just how many times have we been attacked since 9/11?
We have taken the battle to them and if we pull out, or if we never went, the battle would be in our streets.
Thank God for President Bush and the resolve he has to protect us.

If one takes time to study the history and study what has happened in many past years they will find an answer. No one has ever been able to rule or control Afghanistan, either Europe, Russia and USA. What makes you think that we can change thousands of years of culture and way of living over night? What makes us think that we and our culture is always right and others are wrong. If so why do we support Saudi arbia monarchy with no human rights?
Iraq is same situation. No one ever will rule or control Iraq and our men and women will die for what? It was a mistake to go into Iraq in the first place. Gracefully we may want to admit our misjudgment and get the hell out to morrow and let local resolve their differences as they see fit.

Neither Bush or any current politicians may resolve this bluder and keep our people safe?

We need to bring the troops home-- from everywhere (except maybe Okinawa). Here at home they can help us fight the next phase of this war against the homegrown and illegal immigrant Jihadis as they attack our schools, shopping malls, airports, military bases, economic infrastructure, power grid, water supply, fuel storage... You pinko libs aren't opposed to the war, you just want to see it fought in the country you hate; America.

alvin maldonado's commenst are so wrong an far fetched - Alvin - go to Iraq and live there you fool - lets see you post that crap about terrosrist organizations and see how much "Bush" is wrong.

You'd last a day if that.

American violent self-righteousness. Your army has murdered thousands of Iraqis, invaded their homes, mutilated their children and you act as if they are the savages and thank god for President Bush. Bush is a war criminal and you're all a bunch of sheep.

It is sad to say that this web site has not presented any proof that these soldiers are alive. As a former combat soldier myself, I pray that they are alive. All soldiers understand the price that you might have to pay. We also know that our fellow soldiers will always be looking for us. We cover each others backs. This is something that is buried deep in the soldiers creed and something you civilians will never understand. All of you pathetic whinners can all play politics with this issue if you want. But to those guys out there, the must important thing to them is the guys standing next to them. You know that he would go full out for you and you would do the same for him. Alive or dead, they will do everything they can to bring them home. Unfortunately these Iraqi insurgent groups don't believe in the fair treatment of POW's. They are firm believers in brutal torture. I hopw that we find them as soon as possible.
