McCain Official Busted on Sex Charge
July 12, 2007 11:33 AM
An official with the John McCain presidential campaign was arrested for allegedly soliciting oral sex from a policeman in Florida yesterday.
Bob Allen, a member of the Florida House of Representatives, is one of six Florida co-chairs for the Arizona Republican senator's 2008 White House bid.
According to news accounts, local police in Titusville, Fla., arrested Allen Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly offered to exchange $20 for oral sex with the plainclothes officer.
Allen was charged with solicitation to commit prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Allen has said he believes the charges are "a very big misunderstanding" and "disgusting." If convicted, he could face up to a year in jail and a $500 fine.
McCain's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday morning.
Titusville police told reporters Allen caught their attention after he drove through the town's Veterans Memorial Park twice and went in and out of the park's bathroom three times. On his final trip to the bathroom, a plainclothes officer followed him to investigate. Allen made his solicitation through the door of a men's room stall to the officer, according to police.
McCain named Allen and five other men co-chairs of his Florida campaign in March.
"These men are respected leaders in their communities and have real experience wrestling with the important issues of our day," the Arizona GOP senator said in a press release announcing the appointments.
McCain's presidential ambitions have had trouble of late. With less than $2 million on hand, the campaign lost its manager and chief strategist on Tuesday. McCain has denied the departures were part of a "shake-up."
Allen's arrest is the latest in a small burst of unpleasant mini-scandals for presidential campaigns. Two days ago, the southern regional chairman for former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's presidential campaign admitted to using a Washington, D.C.-area escort service; three weeks ago, Giuliani's South Carolina co-chair was indicted for cocaine possession. He has pleaded not guilty.

The Republican Party and it's ardent supporters, continue to spew high moral values and ethics to everyone else but what they really need to do is sit down, shut up and work on their own internal problems with values before advocating them for others.
As far as Iraq goes, the 2008 elections are coming up and Bushes' core supporters are running for the hills and distancing themselves from this debacle in planning and execution of this invasion has produced. Not to mention the scores, tens of thousands, young men and women permanently, horribly disfigured, maimed, legless, armless, lied to frontline defenders of this country!

Now we're getting back to "normal" Repub sex - proving that Vitter - who allegedly committed sex with women - is indeed the exception to the rule for elected Repubs. Vitter is merely a "family values" hypocrite.

I do not care foa nay of this. We are humans - Republicans - Democrats and any other kinds will make foolish mistakes like this one. Even priests, ministers, etc. Let's not judge and understand. People have needs and stop the attacks. The point is - can they do a good job? Perhaps - sex is relaxing and release a lot of stress. These guys are very stress-out. Let then have fun.

How stupid. Doesn't he know the only safe way to solicit oral sex is with an intern in the oval office?
Posted by: Acynic | Jul 12, 2007 12:49:00 PM
The Republican party is the party of Double Speak. "Family Values" has now been redefined to mean "Adultery, Prostitution, and Hypocrisy". Hope that clears things up for everyone.

This is a weak attempt to reach out to the George Michael wing of the Republican Party.
At least this Florida representative didn't abuse the page program though.

ROFLMAO..... this is just TOO precious! McCain and his gay cohorts... only $20 in Titusville? Geez! This is just too funny!
Bub-bye McCain... it was nice knowing you... hope you get a good job selling insurance or something.. What a loser!

The issue here is not so much his illegal behavior (soliciting an undercover cop) as it is his hypocrisy. Is Mr. Allen is a member of the Republican "Sanctity of Marriage and Family Values" brigade? If he is, then that's a problem. Most of us don't want someone with questionable "morals" legistating them for the rest of us.
It's too bad that if he is indeed a gay man, he doesn't feel free to live openly within his own political party.
