Despite Al Qaeda Threats, No Official Change in Embassy Security
August 06, 2007 5:40 PM
State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, in his on-camera comments today, would not disclose what action the State Department has taken in response to threats made by American al Qaeda Adam Gadahn against U.S. embassies abroad.
McCormack said the tape is currently being analyzed for clues and is being taken seriously. He did admit that no special diplomatic cable had been sent to posts abroad asking them to take action or change their security posture.
When asked just how the department is responding, he said, "I can't point to anything specific, other than the fact that this is yet another data point in a number of data points that we collect every single day concerning threats, not only to the homeland but to our facilities abroad. So I can't separate out for you any particular action we've taken in response to this video. But our security, our intel people are constantly looking at whether or not we are in the proper security posture both at home and abroad."

When pressed, he added, "I can't tell you whether or not the posture has changed. I'm sure it has in some small regard. I couldn't point it out to you. But our guys feel as though they are doing all the things that they need to at this point to protect our people and our facilities."
McCormack continued, "People are taking a look at the tape, as well as other things that come in to see if there's anything that we can glean from it, anything we can learn that would tip us off to any sort of plots or plans that may be under way. But as for this particular tape, I can't point to anything in particular that we, any particular action that we have taken, outside of every single day we're taking a look to make sure we have maintained the proper security posture."
Do you have a tip for Brian Ross and the Investigative Team?

I don't know much about the threats but Brian Ross is saying "No, that was one with Sausage and one with extra cheese."

Does anyone realize that there were NO, not one Car Bomb before we went into Iraq?
And there were NO Al Qaeda there untill we moved in, and they've been recruiting ever since?
And that the main reason why these militias are fighting is because one or the other of them is supporting us being there?
Kind of shoots the whole "if we leave things will get a whole lot worse" excuse out of the water doesn't it?
It's all about the money, extended war means more war profits. And meanwhile the Democrat "alternatives" are picking up where the current administration left off, pounding the war drums.
Lets get someone different this election. Someone who will stand for the will of We the People.

Of course the US isn't increasing security. Why would they? They know this Gadhan guy is the propaganda agent of a western intelligence agency. There is no threat other than the one the US government wants you to feel in order to further their war agenda. Instilling fear in the public is the only way they'll achieve the additional neo-conservative goals of invading Iran and Syria.

Eric, how do you know what security precautions the individual embassies have or have not been taken? You don't.
Your childish, bipartisan bickering, jibber-jabber makes not one ounce of sense when applied to conditions in the real world.
And what stand, exactly does the democratic party take on the issues of Iran and Syria (since you're so in-the-know)?
US embassies around the world are at potential security threat (and have been since the late 70's). It's simple; either continue to live in abject denial of reality, or simply research "terrorist attacks on U.S. embassies" and learn something. btw, you know what anniversary it is this week, right? Nine years to the day on August 7th that the embassies in Dar Es Salaam and Nairobi were blown up...the list is long, amigo.

It never occurs to you Bush hater democrat nitwits that the last thing National Defense agencies would do is to "officially" announce specific changes or improvements to our capability. The only exception would be if the announcement was part of the plan. ...this is why you democrats never know what's happening in this country - your HATRED blinds you to any rational understanding. ...really quite amusing, you run around in circles like confused children, clinging to your hate...

They won't announce security upgrades, but they will announce every single perceived threat. They won't announce what happens to arrested "terrorists" (almost universally nothing; they are let free again), but they will put a picture of every single arrested "terrorist" in the newspaper. There's no possible way to be fully informed.
