New Al Qaeda Web Ad Threatens 'Big Surprise'
August 01, 2007 7:34 PM
A new al Qaeda propaganda ad, headlined "Wait for the Big Surprise" and featuring a digitally altered photograph of President George Bush and Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf standing in front of a burning White House, was posted on the Internet today.
The brief clip from al Qaeda's "as Sahab" propaganda arm juxtaposes the doctored photo of Bush and Musharraf along with previously seen images of al Qaeda's top leadership -- Osama bin Laden, Ayman al Zawahri and Adam Gadahn -- as well as a photo of an SUV in a motorcade.
There is no additional information provided in the ad, and it closes with the words, "Soon -- God willing," written across the screen and repeated several times.
See the Al Qaeda Web Ad Captured by ABC News
Following the recent failed London-Glasgow terror plot, U.S. intelligence officials have been paying closer attention to the now frequent propaganda releases from as Sahab, studying the videos for hidden clues or signals.
The full video is expected to be released on the Web in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Do you have a tip for Brian Ross and the Investigative Team?

Maybe they think we will do that to ourselves. We are well on our way, OBL said Jr would chase the "ghost of terrorism and die the death of a thousand cuts." And there goes Dubya, chasing like a dog chasing his tail.
BTW, OBL is dead, funny how ABC keeps the myth going, but no surprise considering how they lied about pre-war intel for Bush...too late for them to bail out now.

More garbage from the terrorists, aided and abetted by he liberal media. Fact is we are MUCH safer in America now than before 9/11 cuz of the wise leadership of President Bush. Terrorists are too busy dying in Iraq to bother us here. Someday after Bush leaves office America will wake up to what a great leader he was and how he kept America safe. But for now we got to listen to videos put out by the liberal Bush-haters.
Posted by: Brad Smith | Aug 1, 2007 8:21:59 PM
Oh yes, a band of terrorists holed up in the Pakistani mountains have the capability to plan yet another mind-blowing attack, make a video to announce such and place it upon the internet, and evade capture by thousands of troops searching the mountains.. completely plausible. Wake Up To the Truth America! The next "terrorist" attack will be another inside job like the first one..

If we had kept on track in Afghanistan and captured these idiots, we would not be worrying about another attack.

Love that religion of peace.
Posted by: Bruno | Aug 1, 2007 8:29:59 PM
The terrorists understand why Bush did what he did. Perhaps, however, we could simply apologize for Bill Clinton bo,bing Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Sudan just to get Monica off of the cable news channels. Would that help?

The Terrorist have left the United States in fear since we are doing such a good job of destroying ourselves and our economy.

And again...
Posted by: Mare | Aug 1, 2007 8:33:10 PM
Even if OBL exists at all, if something "big" happens, it will just be another false flag operation like 9/11.
Forget about the POTUS '08 campaign. '08 will be marked by martial law and suspended elections following simultaneous "big surprises" in three or more locations. And our own government's fingerprints will be all over it, just like 9/11.

Here we go again, the fear mongers playing the OBL myth once again. When is the real investigation into our own corrupt Govt. going to take place? You know? The one that takes a closer look into our dear leaders relationship with the Bin Ladens and the phony war in Iraq and Afghanisatn for future oil rights! when we look at politics today it's like watching an episode of the simpsons "totally surreal" with not a bit of common sense involved!!

re: Bruno
how do you know "If we had kept on track in Afghanistan and captured these idiots, we would not be worrying about another attack."?
to this I say you are sadly misguided. Did we capture Hitler? Have we left Korea? Have we left Germany? NO... this country needs to have patience with this new kind of war we are fighting. We are not fighting a nation state we are fighting an ideology. imagine fighting gangs in an area the size of Texas. You can't tell how the enemy is. The stupid public opinion prevents the troops from doing their job.. sometimes i wish the media would stay out of the war and let the US do what they need to do
Posted by: Jereme | Aug 1, 2007 8:43:21 PM
Was this release by Pelosi, Reid and Clinton? It hard to tell the difference between al Qaeda and democratic talking points. Well we all know the three have been hoping for defeat in Iraq, and since they can't have that they are hoping for an attack on our country. It must be hard for the donkey party, the USA is still prevailing, despite all their attempts to bring us down.

How do you fight a war on terror when you leave your back door wide open at the border? I just don't get it.
It seems to me that a smart idea would be to sick some bounty hunters on these idiots like Ron Paul wants to do. Presidential candidate Ron Paul is introducing a bill that would mark OBL and his buddies with letters of marque and reprisal.

There sure are a lot of lunatics posting comments here. You've got your 9/11 truthers who ignore facts in the name of "Truth," several Bush-haters so infested by BDS they'll oppose anything he proposes and consider it "evil" no matter what it is, a Bush-fan who doesn't see that Pres. Bush isn't perfect (not as common as the liberals think they are - most conservatives aren't like this), and a moron crying about a poor economy that is in fact doing extremely well despite the lies and spin the media likes to give (sure, a housing bubble burst is possible, but the economy is by no means doing poorly!).

Fascinating to see a charter member of the LAMBs (Lunatic-left And Mega-moonbat Brigade) assuring us 9/11 was an inside job - and that the next one will be too.
Were the other attacks around the world since 9/11, also perpetrated by "a band of terrorists holed up in the Pakistani mountains", inside jobs too?

question, liberty boy...you do know there are still tens of thousands of U.S. troops still in Afghanistan and have been since the original invasion, right? maybe you favor Barack Hussein's unilateral non-U.N. approved option of invading Pakistan, which by the way is a nuclear armed muslim country. would that get us more on track?

It's cruel pity for the Americans' rulers to take a slow, measured approach in trying to overcome their enemies among muslims. See where decency and restraint have left the American President and the Americans: Their enemies, being still alive, still taunt them, plot against them, gather their forces, and await their opportunity.

So they can say it and it's right on but if the horrible liberal media says it they've evil? All very interesting. So what you're REALLY saying is you believe everything wrong in the country is because of the press and liberals? That way you won't find fault with anything they do. That is how they want you to view it ya know.

For all those dullards who think 911 was an inside job I bet you also believed the following:
- The Duke Lacrosse players were guilty.
- Hillary will make a good President.
- Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are not racist.
- Man, especially Americans, causes global warming.
- Hollywood is filled with the most intelligent and responsible Americans in the country.

How is it that the liberal wack jobs dominate these posts. I certainly don't believe they are representative of the general beliefs of this country. When will they convert to Islam and join their heroes hiding in caves in third world countries right before we begin an extensive bombing campaign. That would take care of two problems at once.

It's really a shame that people let blind hatred for a President enable them to give aid and comfort to the enemies of our country. Most of these types of people have never fought for freedom. They've merely stole it off the backs of better men and women then they will ever be. Had they any idea what life and living conditions were, under sharia law, they'd appreciate what they have today.

Thank you liberals for your indifference to America's survival. We continue to be faced with people like this, because we have not unleashed the forces that we are capable of wreaking on these animals. Whenever we start to take two steps forward, you force us to take at least three steps backward or to retreat all together.

Why don't we leave the middle east, pop some popcorn and watch a movie like the liberals want us to do. If anyone doesn't like it in the US, they can move to Iraq, Pakistan, or Iran since the terrorists are not in Iraq, therefore Iran is not helping the terrorists in Iraq and OBL is dead. Then we all can be happy.

I think we are looking at the wrong angle with this article. As Americans we should be proud that Adam Gadahn has risen in the ranks of Al Qaeda so quickly. He is one of their #1 faces and seems to be #3 in the entire organization. It is a breakthrough for an American to reach that level within an organization not known for being kind to Westerners. Congratulations is due Mr. Gadahn.

The threat from terrorism in the 21st Centuary is the reason why we have to win in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Democratic Party acts as if we are still in the pre 9/11 era, it is a war the West can not afford to lose. It is good that the USA has a President that will fight the good fight.
Posted by: Dylan E. Thomas | Aug 1, 2007 9:21:52 PM
I am reminded of the Iraqi officer that insisted that no Americans were invading Iraq even as it was happening all around him. These people are all talk for the most part. A group of cowards that kidnap innocents to hold for ransom and send their weaker minded counterparts to commit suicide while they hide in the mountains like cowering dogs. How much do we tolerate before we take DECISIVE ACTION against these criminals. Is the entire world to be kept on pins and needles by a relatively small group hiding behind their religion and our love of oil? When will enough be enough? Will America and Europe stand together and give the middle eastern governments a choice of peace or their destruction? Those middle eastern governments and their leaders should be held accountable for what their people do. Why should America and her allies have to go to other countries to police their backward populations. We should not be waging war against the terrorist. We should wage all out war against the governments that sponsor them and provide them safe haven.

What a bunch of dorks here... saying 9/11 was an "inside job". What about the USS Cole attack or the first Twin Towers attack? You spineless people derive your beliefs from your fears of actually having to serve your country, or to have your children do so. But you'll take your freedom, thank you very much, as long as it doesn't cost you anything. This is an example of our country providing such good protections, that so many of you can not perceive any threat to our way of life. I'd like to see how you behave when there is no thin blue line between you and those who would destroy you. Interesting thought.

All the while keeping anyone who was involved in this massive conspiracy quiet. They couldn't even make the Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman stories stick but you morons think they are capable of pulling all of this off.

Reading these comments is an incredible disappointment. Some commentary is so one sided that one has to believe that these authors who take an extreme position on either side only seek information that supports their worldview. Bush is a flawed president for sure, but the Islamists are bent on our destruction. Even if it is unlikely they can achieve that, they can cause extraordinary pain and sufering the likes of which are soft society has never seen. That is even if they are holed up in Iraq, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Paksitan,Afghanistan, Chechyna, London or Detroit. Whatever position you take on the issue, do yourself and all of us a favor and start being informed with an open mind on both side's positions. Stop the bull. Bush didn't lie as every intelligence operation in the world believed Saddam had WMD. The question was how imminent was the threat. Al Qaeda had a working relationship with Saddam although the primary intel says it was only a midlevel arrangment. Bush has certainly seen boogeymen where they weren't and pushed the security and civil liberties envelope to putting holes in parts of it. It's the oversimplification of the idealogues and simpleminded that will ultimately cost the US and the world the most

Posted by: Kevin | Aug 1, 2007 9:35:26 PM
Those who say 9/11 was an inside job never mention the book that Popular Mechanics has published responding to every single one of the idiot conspiracy theories re 9/11. But the conspiracy theorists won't bother to read anything that undermines their beliefs and reveals their worldviews as the result of traumas over poor toilet training by their parents. That resentment against parents, for one reason or another (but usually the resentment is a result of being spoiled and neglected at the same time) becomes the chief lens through which the conspiracy theorists unconsciously see everything, including their relationship to their native land.

As for the article, if we do not remain ever more vigilant in all areas we are destined for failure and another attack... which of course would be crippling for all Americans...regardless of party affiliation. Imagine your mom, brother, sister, dad, best friend being killed in another attack???
Do you care what party is in office or do you really have those conspiracy theories that you dream about so when something comes close to it you point to Bush and say see I told you so?
I have a theory about a bank being robbed by a group of people for the sake of stealing money and they will have masks and use a get away car. I wounder if somewhere in America or in the world this takes place I can now point to it and say see I told you so. It's Bush's falt because I warned him. STUPID HUH!

The absurd conspiracy theories remind me of a quote I read:
"Sometimes I think the urge to believe in our own worldview is our most powerful intellectual imperative, the mind’s equivalent of feeding, fighting, and fornicating. People will eagerly twist facts into wholly unrecognizable shapes to fit them to existing suppositions. They’ll ignore the obvious, select the irrelevant, and spin it all into a tapestry of self-deception, solely to justify an idea, no matter how impoverished or self-destructive."
America is killing itself with divisiveness. That has been the terrorists' greatest accomplisment.
