Top Taliban Leader Killed in Afghanistan
August 30, 2007 9:22 AM
Mullah Berader, a top Taliban commander, was killed early this morning in a U.S. air strike in volatile Helmand province, a senior Afghan general tells ABC News.
A convoy of British troops and Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers was traveling through Salwan Qala district when they came under attack by Taliban forces, said Gen. Ghulam Mohiauddin Ghoori, the commander of ANA ground troops for Helmand.
Amid an intense firefight, the British troops called in air support. American warplanes struck the Taliban positions, causing dozens of casualties, said Gen. Ghoori. Among the dead, his men on the ground confirmed, was Mullah Berader.

In Kabul, the Defense Ministry also confirmed the report, saying Berader was killed in a pre-dawn raid.
Berader, also known colloquially as Mullah Brother, was close to Taliban leader Mullah Omar. His death will come as a major blow to the Taliban hierarchy and follows the deaths of senior commander Mullah Dadullah Lang in May and the arrest of Defense Minister Mullah Obaidullah in Quetta, Pakistan in March. Many believed Berader succeeded Obaidullah as defense minister, though his exact rank was in dispute.

Pleazzzzze! Where do these names come from? You can't tell the players in this fascist drama without an interpreter. Mullah here and Mullah there...will the tinfoil hatted leftist loons please provide same? That would be one "good" thing they might try to do this congressional year, since nothing has been done to date. Except, of course, for the spewing of hate at the wrong people, the leftists can't come up with an exit plan except DEFEAT!!!! Thank goodness for our soldiers!!!!!

God bless our troops, not only are they fighting a foreign enemy, but they are also battling a congress who encourages the enemy...how many lives have they cost us...huh?

"We joined to fight, now be quiet and let us do it." (posted by 'ac')
Excellent retort. Thanks for your service.

'ac' has it right.
These guys laugh and toy with our'rules of engagement.' Believe me, they have no rules - its time we let our men take their glove off and then just say 'Thank you,'
Most Americans know it.
Bless you and your brothers
Thank you for our freedom

Why do the Neo Marxists go on the attack everytime a scumbag enemy of our nation and culture gets his justified ticket to martyrdom? The Islamo facists and the western left both hate Christianity and the USA and are allied together in destroying our way of life. It's ironic that if this plan succeeds, the lefties will be the the ones supplying the heads for the videos even though they are obviously quite empty!

Does killing one more militant do anything to deter Muslims from joining an extremist sect? Rationally the answer is no. There will always be more people to fill a "martyrs" position as long as we continue to kill innocents as collateral damage.

sounds like a front to let all Iraq refugees in and saudes come into America to take over never know who is the on coming in even with a green card they could be the enemy just because that show a degree doen't mean it real could be fake ?? but that how stupid America is, ask Bill Gates to show if the degrees are good here??

Thank god, I heard that guy had a plane ticket to NY next month...you know, we have to get them there cause they can't possibly leave those countries and come here while we are there, right? I mean, if they WERE to come over here right now all our military would be worn out somewhere in a desert and we would be TRUELY screwed, right?
Whew, glad they can't escape our border control in all of the middle east...gee, I wonder why we can't control our own borders but we are so effective over there???

It is good to occasionally here of the few and far between killings of the actual enemy inbetween reports of our soldiers being killed or killing innocent bystanders...at least we get a bad guy every now and then

...nice shooting, but they'll just find somebody else...we have to stop being so stinking PC and start a propaganda campaign to debase this entire ideology...if we have to shoot somebody, make it these lousy clerics and mulahs that are telling these peasant kids that God is impressed by people killing each other...that concept is the worst perversion of any religion in existence.

Very few people understand yet what is in the minds of the radicalized Muslims. They want to kill all infidels and unbelievers who will not accept the imposition of Islam. This means most of the Christians, Jews and other religious minorities of North America, most of the superior, sneering Europeans (who seem to be more atheist than Christian these days), most of the Catholics and charismatic Christians in South America, and most of the Buddhists, Hindus and Christians in Asia. We are talking billions of people, and they intend to kill billions of people if they won't convert to Islam. They believe all of this merciless slaughter to be the will of God, and they see no discrepancy between the awful cruelty of this plan and the mercy of God. The confusion and misplaced blame of the present state of world affairs is easily cleared up by the simple expedient of following the hate and seeing where it leads.

Seems like Democrats like Hanoy-John are wanting America to become an 3rd world power. Thank you God for answering my prayors, and protecting America, and the few fiteing patriots that are protecting the masses in America!

Great job by the troops. Bagged another one. Good luck, Godspeed and good hunting.

The killing of Berader is sad news to democrats who seem to be so anti America these days. When asked which side they want to win they can't answer. That is pretty bad.
God bless the troops who are fighting to keep us safe.

71.000 Iraqi civilian casualties since 2003.
Both sides are wrong, and war is a damn business (even IBM makes parts for guns) that will never end.

I'm sure Hillary and Obama will protect our country against Islamic radicals. Oh yea! Bill didn't do such a good job. Clinton Inc. will fail miserably in any military adventure. No military families support the Clinton/Obama Inc.
