Anti-War YouTube 'Vet' Admits He Is Faker

September 21, 2007 3:11 PM

Antiwaryoutub_mn A Washington man, whose claims to have slaughtered civilians as a U.S. Army Ranger in Iraq were seen by millions on YouTube, admitted in federal court in Seattle today that he was a fake and a liar.

Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, pleaded guilty to charges he faked his war record.

"He was in the Army for 40 days before he was kicked out of boot camp for being unfit," said U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan.  "He was never in Iraq."

Macbeth's story of killing men and women as they left a Baghdad mosque included claims that he was a U.S. Army Ranger and had received the Purple Heart for injuries suffered in combat in Iraq.

His interview was translated into Arabic and distributed in the Middle East, said the U.S. attorney.

"Macbeth's lies fueled hostility to our servicemen in Iraq and here at home," Sullivan said.

Federal prosecutors and investigators with the Office of the Inspector General for the Department of Veterans Affairs say they are in the midst of a crackdown on phony heroes.

"The phony war hero phenomenon plagues the American landscape and tarnishes the service of thousands of veterans who have served honorable," said Douglas Carver, special agent in charge of the VA's inspector general operation in the west.

In another recent case, investigators uncovered a man who posed as a U.S. Marine Chaplain, officiating at the weddings and funerals of Marines.

Reggie Lee Buddle, 59, of Puyallup, Wash., was sentenced to two years of probation in July after pleading guilty to charges he wore a Marine Captain's uniform and insignia.

Buddle, who never served in the Marines, participated in an opening ceremony of the Washington state Senate last year, delivering the opening prayer.

Macbeth, the phony U.S. soldier who claimed to have committed atrocities, was sentenced to five months in jail.

He told the judge today he wanted to apologize to "the real American heroes."

He said he lied about his military record in order to get money and treatment from the VA hospital.

"He said he lied about his military record in order to get money and treatment from the VA hospital".

He shamed himself and casts a shadow over real Iraq vets and soldiers in the theater now and placed them in harms way even more. He is dispicable and deserves more than 5 months in prison. And the pathetic part is that as a criminal, he'll get the FREE medical treatment that you and I get to pay for, along with his meals.

Liberals lie to smear America? I can't believe it.

So what? Bush is a fake Vet too! He uses his daddy's connection to jump to the head of the line for flight training for the Tx ANG...with ZERO hours of flight time. He promises to serve 6 years for the rare privilege, questionably serves only TWO, then TOTALLY disappears and SOMEHOW gets an honorable discharge. And this is the guy you Army morons "HooAhhh" for....some "vet".

"Why is it that when I say 'Bring our soldiers home' I'm suddenly anti-military?"

Because the military has a job to do, one that they all volunteered to do. For YOU to presume to demand to bring them home instead of having them actually do that job, is no kind of support.

You have the notion that they are children that need your protection. They aren't and they don't; and I say that as one of them. You owe them the respect they've earned, not your patronizing, insulting 'protection'.

If you are anti the military's mission, you are anti-military, case closed, end of discussion, and regardless of who's in your family.

Turn off the CNN left winged crap. Figure out that you are being brainwashed...

Fortunately, this is America. And as Americans, we have EVERY RIGHT TO QUESTION THE CIVILIAN LEADERS WHO ABUSE THE MILITARY THROUGH THEIR INCOMPETENCE. Like the NeoCons and Bush Jr. who manipulated and tweaked this whole thing and ignored all the SMART generals...and now have completely screwed the pooch. How dare you question my patriotism...maybe you need to read the Declaration of Independence and Constitution again. They were WRITTEN by people who questioned - and didn't blindly follow - authority.

Hereby second Batfink's post. Over the years I've encountered a variety of wannbe war heroes from all walks of life. They are usually discoverable by myself and other vets within a few minutes of conversation - but unfortunately often not by a more general audience. As a former door gunner with the Marines in Nam, I am highly offended by any twerp who claims to be something they're not.

To those of you who are ignorant of the facts, or are just plain left-wing progressive liars: GWB was in the National Guard and did not serve in Vietnam. To say he was a "fake Vietnam vet" is just plain stupid. Maybe you have mistaken him for Sen. Kerry. Three bactine treated scratches, three Purple Hearts and four short month on active duty in Nam. Now there's a fake!

Trust your gut if you feel it's a nut.
There are so many of these guys out there, if in doubt check 'em out.

"And as Americans, we have EVERY RIGHT TO QUESTION THE CIVILIAN LEADERS"

Nobody's saying you don't. But joining a debate isn't risk-free to one's reputation, and shouldn't be. You can say whatever you want about our leadership. But others have every right to conclude that you're dishonest, just plain wrong, completely ignorant, crazy, possesed of the life experience of a 6 year old, willfully morally obtuse, an America-hater, or all of the above. We also have every right to take you for a complete idiot if you sound like one.

If you can't live with that, my advice would be to keep your opinions to yourself. Refuse, and you'll likely be hearing the opinions of lots of other people as entitled to theirs as you are to yours. And guess what: they might just make a much more convincing case than you do.

Yes The "Faker" played it up well and the Seattle Left Wingers treated him like a hero. Turns out to be the usual Left Wing Dem Tactic.... Tell a lie eough & some poor slob believes it! Did noy work out this time for the Seattle Left Wing Democrats. If so many folks want out of Iraq (as the Left Dems claim) Why do they keep loosing in the Senate?

Maybe this one can "serve" in the next twisted production by Oliver Stone. I understand that Michael Moore is always on the lookout for immoral, unprincipled morons, as well.

Setting the record straight:
I am a Democrat, but I am a moderate and not a liberal so I think that allows me to see things more clearly. On the supposed illegal and immoral war in Iraq lets\'s pause a moment and look back in history. We went into Iraq in 1991 to force them to withdraw from Kuwait. The agreements made which ended the conflict required that Iraq conduct itself in certain ways. Iraq agreed but began violating the agreement as soon as the bulk of our forces left. They refused to cooperate with the UN inspectors, they refused to obey UN resolutions and they continuously fired on our aircraft that was enforcing the no fly zones. Clinton was president during this time and he ordered bombing on several different occasions to try and force Iran to comply. The UN inspectors were convinced and they convinced several world leaders that Iraq was continuing the weapons of mass destruction program the had in place prior to the first gulf was. President Clinton was convinced that these programs were still in effect and stated this in more than one speech he gave. President Clinton would have invaded Iraq just as President Bush did had he been President when the Islamists attacked us on Sept 11. The people who claim Bush lied and people died would not be saying this about President Clinton had it happened on his watch. The ultra liberal left has done irrepairable damage to this country abroad by all the lies that they have generated. They lay it at the feet of the current president because they hate him so and their hatred is destroying us all. I hate President bush, I wish he had never been elected but I shudder to think what America would be like if either Al Gore or John Kerrey had been elected in his place, and I absolutely refuse to disgrace America by complaining about the President of the United States to any foreign audience or to publically make condemning statements that are picked up by a liberal media and broadcast to the world which bring shame and condemnation on our country and ultimately onto ourselves.

What is he trying to do beat John Kerry at it? All he has to do is be a traitor like Kerry and of course a liberal.

Posted by: Dennis Rick | Sep 21, 2007 9:33:37 PM

Well said, Ron! I agree with everything you said, with the exception of hating President Bush. I feel he has acted in the best interests of the citizens of the U.S. on Iraq, but has utterly failed us on our borders. He is selling us out on the immigration crisis.
As for this Macbeth yoyo, it's a shame the military did away with the firing squad!

Sharktattoo: Right there with you brother. I used to be a flight medic in the Air Force reserve and I now train others to do the job; I've seen the effects of this war up close and personal. I am also a liberal and it ticks me off to no end when I hear fat, lazy, slobs call liberals America-haters. Until they get off their fat butts and do something to EARN it, they have no grounds whatsoever to tell me I hate America. I wore a flag on my left shoulder long before 9/11 made it a fashion statement.

Elaine: "ABC is framing this as another example of the “phony war hero” phenomenon, which it isn’t. While scummy and pathetic, civilians who impersonate troops to steal the glory of the uniform at least aren’t besmirching the service." As a former AF flight medic I couldn't disagree with you more (with the exception of the scummy and pathetic part). How does this $&%#$^ NOT fall under the category of "phony war hero"? He faked having recieved the Purple Heart and PTSD to get money from the VA. I earned the medals I have. I earned my flight hours the hard way. I take it VERY personally when some clown like this portrays himself as a soldier. His actions VERY MUCH besmirch the service; his lies denigrate the service and sacrifice of those who have served.

This guy wouldn't have gotten anywhere if it weren't for the liberal left eating these types of lies up so they can make our Military look bad. It's the liberals who have been telling lies for the past six years, not Bush. It's a shame American's are so gullible and too lazy to check out the facts for themselves. If the democrats win in 2008 America will be finished. The democrats are as much enemies to America as are the terrorists.

Failure to secure the border and his attempts to establish a North American Union is the reason I hate Bush. I support him on the war. This is a war we cannot survive losing. We have been paying the price for failure of resolve in Vietnam Lebanon and Somalia. That is part of the reason the mess in Iraq has lasted so long along with the antiwar sentiment voiced in this country. The world thinks the United States doesn't have the stomach for a prolonged war. The terrorist feel if they can hang on just a little longer and inflict a few more casualitys more that we will tuck our tails and run. Know what? If the Democrat party has their way that is exactly what will happen. We Democrats snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory in Vietnam, they will do the same in Iraq if they can but I wont be one of them then. We have been told that if we pull out of Iraq before the job is done the terroristd will follow us home. The anti war people laugh at this but... if it was to happen it will be Bush's fault, you can bet on that. The ultra liberal group called General Petraeus a liar and a traitor. If you think of yourself as a liberal and damn proud of it you will be thought of as they are, corrupt unprincibled perhaps even a traitor to your country. If that doesn't set well with you maybe you aren't as liberal as you think. Certainly move on doesn't have any respect for the military nor do they support our troops. The general is one of our troops also.

J, thanks for making the connection between wannabe military dictators and the Left perfectly clear for all of us.
If you are still serving, ask your senior NCO to remind you of your oath of service.
