Bin Laden: Armed Rebellion Against Musharraf 'Obligatory'
September 20, 2007 9:27 AM
In a tape posted on an al Qaeda Web site this morning, Osama bin Laden says Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's "loyalty, submissiveness and aid" to America "makes armed rebellion against him and removing him obligatory."
"He is a traitor to Islam and Muslims," bin Laden says in an audio statement posted over what appears to be previously seen video of the al Qaeda leader.
"We have been extremely late in carrying it out," bin Laden says, referring to rebellion against Musharraf, "so we should make up for lost time."
Watch an Excerpt of Bin Laden's Message.
The comments were addressed to the "people of Pakistan," but al Qaeda simultaneously released transcripts in English and Arabic as well as Pashtun.
Musharraf has been under growing pressure from the United States to crack down on safe havens inside Pakistan that U.S. intelligence officials say have allowed al Qaeda to re-establish training camps.
There have been at least five assassination attempts aimed at Musharraf in the last few years, which he blamed on al Qaeda-connected groups.

This is like out of a comic book. Next we'll be told the silver surfer is out there.

Do not live in Fear.
Live with intelligence and a heart filled with Peace.
Osama bin Laden is a traitor to the Islam community, for it is not written in true Islamic religion to kill anyone. You can interpret any book for one’s selfish agenda. He does not live with the intention of the best interest of his people. He does not live with humility, peace in his heart.
I believe these small groups of terrorists are lost individuals. They follow a leader that prefers to destroy than communicate. Women of the world are getting tired of losing their sons, husbands, brothers, uncles, friends and neighbors all because men of the world do not know how to communicate well enough to live in neighboring countries. If you truly want to make a difference in this world before you leave this world, then I recommend PEACE by communication. Try something different and embrace PEACE. Stop killing your own people.

There he is. Osama Bin Laden. Hard to believe there are so many people who agree with him and demand the defeat of the US in the fight against terror. Some how the argument goes that fighting terrorism creates terrorists, but letting them win doesn't encourage terrorists. Sure, it's stupid, but that's what we are told. Surrender is the best way to defeat terrorists?

Why have we not killed Bin Laden Yet? That irritates me. Find him and kill him.

Thank You for all your hard work Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. I know it has been difficult and dangerous for you. Your continuing fight against alqueda is imperative and necessary. Now its more urgent than ever. Step up and getir done. ty

GMA reported a small amount on Bin Laden, this morning & a whole lot on OJ, Brad, and Britney. Yesterday Glenn Beck was on & was asked about Sally Field. He ran a special last week about new terrorist plots & GMA asked about Sally Field? GMA needs to rethink priorities. Leave reporting celebrity gossip to E, MTV, or VH1!

If there is a major revolt attempt by the Islamists, that may just be a good thing. The Musharrif military would stand a good chance of crushing a large scale rebellion, and killing a very very large number of militants. One thing that the Mooshie government needs to do, though, and this is crucial, is to provide the people of Pakistan civil justice and services, well funded public schools (very important), and health services. Lack of these elements (the current situation in most of the country) is what creates an environment condusive to radicalization.

I have witnessed thousands of horrific acts by the Islamist's. There is yet to be established an act that cannot be performed.

As much as Bin laden has been pushing out his hate propaganda lately I am surprized the MoveOn Organization has not solicited him to be their spokesperson from afar. I don't think many Democrats will complain. Yet I guess the most you can do sleeping in someone elses cave is to spew out hate propaganda to all the idiots that want to believe it.

It's interesting that bin Laden is now fighting a war against Democracy. When Bush's central theme is to spread freedom and democracy to Iraq. I thought we were godless infidels. Now we're just nasty capitialists.

Pakistan keeps OBL alive so that they can get more money from USA. Bush keeps OBL alive so that he can keep his claim of Iraq and keep scaring American People. Everything happens with a good reason. A mighty military force of more than 150000 soldiers can't squash a small terrorist group because their commander in chief doesn't want to.

The war against terrorism is much more complicated than worrying about bin laden. I say it is better to ignore him entirely - make him totally irrelevant. Eventually, he wil be captured and /or killed. But in the meantime, why are we giving him so much media exposure. We are just fueling the Islamic Extremist proaganda.

He may be a sick person who hijacked a religion, but he's ALSO one of the few people with enough guts to condemn american global plunder.

Why do we keep fueling the extremist Islamic groups by continuing to give bin laden media exposure. I say it is best to ignore him completely - make him totally irrelevant. Eventually, he will be found and/or killed.

Awesome...bring it!

Remember, Islam is a religion of peace.
And, the War on Terror is just a bumper sticker slogan...

Now will Musharrif go get the snake? Don't kill it though. We'll, ahem, think of something.
Posted by: drummer941 | Sep 20, 2007 1:57:58 PM
Don,
Wake up...millions of people have publicly voiced opposition to American "Imperialism"...don't even think of justifying anything about OBL on those grounds.

Osama: where did you learn how to play hide and go seek so well?
Posted by: Jimmy | Sep 20, 2007 3:52:22 PM
This is actually good news. Remember that the peace agreement in theory kept the Pakistani army out of the area in which UBL is hiding. By declaring "war", UBL has basically given Musharraf the green light to blitzkrieg Waziristan as soon as the crazies make their first move.
This could turn out to be UBL's biggest blunder. I will cherish the video of UBL getting a med exam in an orange jump suit (similar to Hussein) IF we captured him alive. Unlikely, but we take him dead or alive.

Sue from Texas, I agree - Give Peace a Chance.
Posted by: TW | Sep 20, 2007 4:26:03 PM
sue from texas, I tried posting a lengthy explanaation of how radicalism takes root, but it was cut short by ABC. Peace is all well and good, and I wholeheartedly agree with your first three paragraphs, but I just do not think that you know enough about the various situations throughout the region that are the cause of radicalization...in light of that, your last paragraph is just naive...

Yep, sure is a good thing Bush cut and ran from the fight against Al queda and bin Laden to start an unnecessary war to gain control of Iraq's oil. Now bin Laden is free to start a war in Pakistan. Sure, no big deal if Al queda takes control of Pak's nukes. Can't understand the right wingers. They blather on and on about not surrendering or accepting a defeat in Iraq, even though neither would be the case if we were to pack up and leave tomorrow, but they got no problem with Bush surrendering the fight against OBL and AQ. Even Patraeus admits he cannot say this occupation of Iraq is making the US any safer, but how does allowing OBL and AQ to run free so we can do some nation building somewhere else make us safer? It doesn't. The repubs keep hitting the 'M' button when it is clear to anyone paying attention we need to hit the 'W' button. Out of Iraq and into the Afg/Pak border area and take out OBL and AQ once and for all.

C'mon, this is a really lame ruse. Northern Pakistan is his only "refuge", cos we haven't been allowed to occupy. This is a really weak mindgame, just that I don't know what his ulterior motive would be. Part of me would like to believe that he's getting more ill as the years go on, in self-denial by dying his beard and hair - but knowing that his time is drawing near and he'd rather take the "noble" death of a martyr. Not that I would object, as long as we have the leader of the wolf pack, dead or alive. Whatever "jihad" may arise from that point would sparkle and fade.

Jazz - which book of yours should I read?
Peace is an option.
Posted by: sue from texas | Sep 20, 2007 5:26:23 PM
Taken from a transcript of Bono from U2: "'No.' Now, the world is a smaller place; distance cannot decide who is our neighbor to love. Love thy neighbor. We can't afford not to. The world is too close." Ditto!
We can't afford not to love our neighbors. Everyone is connected, everyone.....PEACE is an option...

The internet is FULL of reaserch sources...take a break from disney and look into it; it's one of the most important issues of our time, so I think it's worth the effort. But look at it from all sides...state dept info, indie journalism/blogs, even Al Jazeera. Also, there's been a great amount of writing on the middle east in National Geographic over the last few years. Check it out. Peace...

IF "al Qaeda simultaneously released transcripts in English," WHY NOT JUST POST THE TRANSCRIPT INSTEAD OF GIVING US YOUR ABC GLOSS!
POST THE TRANSCRIPT!

Osama - in case you're reading this... You are a joke. You are irrelevant. Nobody cares what you think or say anymore, and if it weren't for your payoffs to the ridiculous little news stations who air your ridiculous egomaniacal rants, nobody would hear a word you say. Take your stupid little hat and your dumb dialysis machine and disappear into another one of your silly little caves, like the hobbling mountain goat that you've become.
Silly little man.

This is just another rewason to get out of Iraq. If OBL gets a hold of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal it will mean a theather nuclear war. We will have to move aganist him in a way that will have vast and unpleasent impliccations. I would prefer not to use a nuclear option in Pakistan;but we might be forced to go there by a lack of any other option.

Hi Sir/madom,
I wish to say this man called osmam is satan because he never like his own people. I thank God for those of our brothers who have seen that killing human being will not help. However it is my wish that those who know where he is should tell us.We want to be free. God has given us freedom and osmam should stop thinking that he can take the place of God.
