Bin Laden: Armed Rebellion Against Musharraf 'Obligatory'
September 20, 2007 9:27 AM
In a tape posted on an al Qaeda Web site this morning, Osama bin Laden says Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's "loyalty, submissiveness and aid" to America "makes armed rebellion against him and removing him obligatory."
"He is a traitor to Islam and Muslims," bin Laden says in an audio statement posted over what appears to be previously seen video of the al Qaeda leader.
"We have been extremely late in carrying it out," bin Laden says, referring to rebellion against Musharraf, "so we should make up for lost time."
Watch an Excerpt of Bin Laden's Message.
The comments were addressed to the "people of Pakistan," but al Qaeda simultaneously released transcripts in English and Arabic as well as Pashtun.
Musharraf has been under growing pressure from the United States to crack down on safe havens inside Pakistan that U.S. intelligence officials say have allowed al Qaeda to re-establish training camps.
There have been at least five assassination attempts aimed at Musharraf in the last few years, which he blamed on al Qaeda-connected groups.

Osama: where did you learn how to play hide and go seek so well?

This is actually good news. Remember that the peace agreement in theory kept the Pakistani army out of the area in which UBL is hiding. By declaring "war", UBL has basically given Musharraf the green light to blitzkrieg Waziristan as soon as the crazies make their first move.
This could turn out to be UBL's biggest blunder. I will cherish the video of UBL getting a med exam in an orange jump suit (similar to Hussein) IF we captured him alive. Unlikely, but we take him dead or alive.

Sue from Texas, I agree - Give Peace a Chance.

sue from texas, I tried posting a lengthy explanaation of how radicalism takes root, but it was cut short by ABC. Peace is all well and good, and I wholeheartedly agree with your first three paragraphs, but I just do not think that you know enough about the various situations throughout the region that are the cause of radicalization...in light of that, your last paragraph is just naive...

Yep, sure is a good thing Bush cut and ran from the fight against Al queda and bin Laden to start an unnecessary war to gain control of Iraq's oil. Now bin Laden is free to start a war in Pakistan. Sure, no big deal if Al queda takes control of Pak's nukes. Can't understand the right wingers. They blather on and on about not surrendering or accepting a defeat in Iraq, even though neither would be the case if we were to pack up and leave tomorrow, but they got no problem with Bush surrendering the fight against OBL and AQ. Even Patraeus admits he cannot say this occupation of Iraq is making the US any safer, but how does allowing OBL and AQ to run free so we can do some nation building somewhere else make us safer? It doesn't. The repubs keep hitting the 'M' button when it is clear to anyone paying attention we need to hit the 'W' button. Out of Iraq and into the Afg/Pak border area and take out OBL and AQ once and for all.

C'mon, this is a really lame ruse. Northern Pakistan is his only "refuge", cos we haven't been allowed to occupy. This is a really weak mindgame, just that I don't know what his ulterior motive would be. Part of me would like to believe that he's getting more ill as the years go on, in self-denial by dying his beard and hair - but knowing that his time is drawing near and he'd rather take the "noble" death of a martyr. Not that I would object, as long as we have the leader of the wolf pack, dead or alive. Whatever "jihad" may arise from that point would sparkle and fade.

Jazz - which book of yours should I read?
Peace is an option.

Taken from a transcript of Bono from U2: "'No.' Now, the world is a smaller place; distance cannot decide who is our neighbor to love. Love thy neighbor. We can't afford not to. The world is too close." Ditto!
We can't afford not to love our neighbors. Everyone is connected, everyone.....PEACE is an option...

The internet is FULL of reaserch sources...take a break from disney and look into it; it's one of the most important issues of our time, so I think it's worth the effort. But look at it from all sides...state dept info, indie journalism/blogs, even Al Jazeera. Also, there's been a great amount of writing on the middle east in National Geographic over the last few years. Check it out. Peace...

IF "al Qaeda simultaneously released transcripts in English," WHY NOT JUST POST THE TRANSCRIPT INSTEAD OF GIVING US YOUR ABC GLOSS!
POST THE TRANSCRIPT!

Osama - in case you're reading this... You are a joke. You are irrelevant. Nobody cares what you think or say anymore, and if it weren't for your payoffs to the ridiculous little news stations who air your ridiculous egomaniacal rants, nobody would hear a word you say. Take your stupid little hat and your dumb dialysis machine and disappear into another one of your silly little caves, like the hobbling mountain goat that you've become.
Silly little man.

This is just another rewason to get out of Iraq. If OBL gets a hold of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal it will mean a theather nuclear war. We will have to move aganist him in a way that will have vast and unpleasent impliccations. I would prefer not to use a nuclear option in Pakistan;but we might be forced to go there by a lack of any other option.

Hi Sir/madom,
I wish to say this man called osmam is satan because he never like his own people. I thank God for those of our brothers who have seen that killing human being will not help. However it is my wish that those who know where he is should tell us.We want to be free. God has given us freedom and osmam should stop thinking that he can take the place of God.
