Worried Bin Laden Urges Iraq Insurgents to 'Unite'

October 22, 2007 2:29 PM

Worriedbinlad_mnShowing apparent signs of concern over events in Iraq, al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden urged insurgents to "unite your lines into one" in an audiotape played on al Jazeera Monday.

"Don't be arrogant," bin Laden warned. "Your enemies are trying to break up the jihadi groups. I urge you all to work in one united group."

People familiar with bin Laden's voice say the tape appeared to be authentic, although there was no reference to any event that would indicate when it was recorded.

Bin Laden's message comes at a time when U.S. strategy to split Iraqi insurgent groups from al Qaeda units appears to be working.

"It's always good news when they are divided," said Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism adviser, now an ABC News consultant. "It's reflective that U.S. tactics are having some success."

Saying he was speaking to "everyone in the Muslim community," bin Laden urged "scholars and leaders of the jihad" to take on the role of uniting the groups "right now."

U.S. intelligence officials said they were studying the tape, the third this year from the terror fugitive who is believed to be hiding along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Ah yes another Bin laden tape of his weakness,When will he cease...Maybe we should fly a few bombers into his mudhuts and see what happens or take out his top guy..I mean honestly...11 billion should be spent on taking this guy out instead of the nonsense Bush talks about. We need to end this war, bring our troops home..11 billion could also buy alot of plane tickets to fly into Iraq some night and fly all of our boys home and hand them the broom and say hey clean up your own mess..We're outta here!
Thank you

They're struggling...

Bad news for the democrats. No wonder Nancy Pelosi was trying to cut off our supply routes through Turkey! They are just a nervous about the US winning in Iraq as Osama is.

ABC said "Bin Laden's message comes at a time when U.S. strategy to split Iraqi insurgent groups from al Qaeda units appears to be working." ~~ i am very happy that you finally admit the surge is working. Its about time you pull your liberal self out of your own patute.

Doesn't anyone find this tape coming out at a convenient time?! It just so happens that Bush is asking for another $42 billion for this war...

The only unity Osama will be seeing is the unity of America in defeating him and his Al Qaeda organization.

Posted by: James | Oct 22, 2007 3:00:49 PM

Let them all come together to plan their "unity", and we'll take them all out at one time!

I guess it is time for Bush's boogeyman
to come out with all that is going on in
our world. If anyone believes anything
what our stupid in the white house says,
you have to be a complete MORON.

This is bad news for democrats. They have been trying to defeat the US in Iraq for just as long as Osama has. Nancy Pelosi almost cut off our supply lines in Turkey. I'm sure between her and Osama, they thought the US would be an easy take down, but that turned out not to be the case and it seems that things are getting better in Iraq and that is unacceptable to the terrorists and democrats.

I guess ABC did'nt have a choice but run this story. I'm sure they will give Hillary credit for Bin Laden being worried

OBL, urged Muslim Terrorists / Democrats / Leftist / Liberals to Unite.
Harry Reid, Nancy and Chuckie Schumer said OK.

Because Dubya is not willing to, I am going to turn Bin Ladin into falafel and serve him to Condareeza Rice, and serve Condareeza Rice to the Chinese, and serve the Chinese to the Aliens (not the illegal ones) and serve the Aliens to Satan and serve Satan with a subpoena so powerful that he will Blow Up!!!

It is about time that the media reports what is going on in Iraq....Al Qaeda is getting their butts kicked by the USA and the Iraqi people.

We will leave Iraq a much better place than when we came there, and we will have a valuable ally in the Middle East. They will be a great partner ecomnomically and strategically for us in the region.

The Quran (Arabic: القرآن al-qur'ān; show me where it is written to kill your neighbor or bomb a building because you have differences with your neighbor. Do not live in Fear! Women of the world are tired of losing their fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, brother-in-laws, wives, husbands, aunts, nieces, grandparents, sisters, cousins, and children all because of the arrogance of Osama Bin Laden and politicans. It is not right to harm anyone - Peace is an option.

I guess I was not thinking the same way...I was thinking how ironic...another type just before the World Series.

People are dying... nobody wins.

The only thing scarier than Bin Laden is the idiocy of the lunatic right wing.

Wouldn't it be great if they all united for peace instead of war? It is so sad what they're doing to each other... so many innocent people have lost their lives and families have been destroyed. I'm about to lose my father to cancer, but my misery pales in comparison to what the average Iraqi has gone through in the past 4 years. Islamic or not, my heart goes out to the human suffering that is undeniable. I really hope someone comes out from within the arab community preaching of peace and nonviolent resistance.

It would be nice if we could all agree that this is good news in the war on terror and stop saying liberal this and republican that. I know we have problems but we could get alot more accomplished in this war and in this nation if we would stop being so devisive and destructive politically. Maybe if we had real leadership in the legislative and executive branch of the government more americans would relize this.

This does create some interesting political scenarios for both parties and may help many to undersatnd the rush to create friction with Turkey. For now I suggest that the adults in charge of the U.S. military move to close AQ out in Iraq and do the same in Afganistan. The political debate should be interesting along with the suggestion of treason by some leaders.
