Trains, Spies and the BBC: How The Real Spooks Work
December 03, 2007 9:27 AM
No one does it better than the BBC's Gordon Corera, a frequent collaborator with the Blotter on ABCNews.com.
Count on him to be able to get inside the secret world of MI-5, Britain's spy agency, where the real world is just as intriguing as portrayed by Ian Fleming in his James Bond novels.
His upcoming series is worth a read for anyone who follows the intelligence community.
Read The Sunday Times' "Don't Look Now, Britain's Real Spooks Are Right Behind You."

Well, I don't find that brief statement above about getting inside MI5 surprising at all. Spy agencies are known for, despite all their smoking mirrors and daring do they action, to be quite advertiser friendly, as if to say 'don't mess with us, we're everywhere.' Since 9/11 and WMD, the general public truely wonders where the cross-over points are between each agency and where agencies might be seconded their personnel.
Just imagine the trouble you could get into if you walked into a room and asked loudly 'I wonder who the CIA black operative is around here?' I'm sure they could manufacture a response so you'd never ask that sort of question again.
