Rezko Trial: Obama Consulted on Board Picks
March 10, 2008 1:27 PM
As an Illinois lawmaker, Barack Obama was one of eight state officials consulted on appointments to a state board which later became involved in what prosecutors describe as a fraud scheme, the Associated Press reports today.
That information was contained in a June 2003 memo from a national Democratic official introduced this morning as evidence at the trial of Antoin "Tony" Rezko, a Chicago-area developer and political operative facing corruption charges.
THE BLOTTER RECOMMENDS
The memo does not say how much influence Obama had over the process of picking members for the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, AP said.
And it did not indicate Obama was involved in the alleged corruption that later tainted the board.

so let me get this straight, after 200+ investigative news stories and an FBI investigation, neither of which turned up anything illegal on the part of Senator Obama, this is a scandal for him how? Because he knows the guy? C'mon Hsu was/is dirtier than Rezko. Bill Clinton has actually been convicted for lying to Congress and HRC still associates with him. Rezko is small potatoes compared to the Clinton associates that have been or are under investigation/indictment/impeachment.

did you people catch this:
"The memo does not say how much influence Obama had over the process of picking members for the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board, AP said.
And it did not indicate Obama was involved in the alleged corruption that later tainted the board."
The only apparent fact in this article is that Obama was 1 of 8 consulted in the appointing of a state board that later is being accused of wrong doing. No where in this article or any other does it prove that Obama has done anything illegal. He's not even being investigated. Can someone, anyone post a like with proof that Obama did anything wrong or is even being investigated for doing anything wrong... Waiting

baccarattwo it can be said that he wasnt involved because there is no proof whatsoever that he was and believe you me if it comes out that he were involved in anything illegal this country will nail his but to the wall. You people are just waiting for it.

Folks keep talking about the "Clinton scandals". Fact is, those "scandals" were investigated aggressively and spread on the front pages of all the major media at that time. Bottomline - nothing was found.
Obama on the other hand has not been investigated, and has gotten kid glove treatment by the press. Now, he may also come out squeeky clean in the end, but will that happen in time for the general election? Can Dems take that chance? And, what if he is not found to be clean? What do we do then?
Folks, we have serious business in this country - we need solid leaders with proven track records. My vote - Hillary. If she is not the nominee - McCain. Plain and simple.

And the plot sickens!!! Wow,will all this come out in time to stop one of the biggest mistakes of our Democratic Party's exsistence (Thomas Jefferson's Party). We need Hillary Clinton. She has a firm grasp of the issues and a lifetime of committment to America. Americans, please wake up and smell the coffee. Let's not end up with four more years of the same. moblou KY bring the vote on to the rest of "US"

This IS significant. Obama is proving to be the old-school political insider he constantly harps on. I am starting to wonder if his decision to run for president right now, after emphatically stating that he wouldn't, has anything to do with the dirt that will be found on him as the Rezko trial continues.
I really hope that if Obama had shady dealings that we find out right now instead of after he is elected president. The more we learn about Obama the less he looks like the bringer of hope and change he claims to be.

You know what I find interesting? It is that Obama wants to accuse Hillary on her "judgement" on the War, yet his "bad judgement" with his association and implicit connection with Rezko is beyond just questionable.

Good point Heidi!! If entering into a deal with someone who is under investigation is not Horrible judgement I do not know what is!! This is some of the worst judgement I have ever seen!!
Posted by: Jerry | Mar 10, 2008 3:53:43 PM
Here's a good "judgement"... Obama has been the chairman for Senate Foreign Relation Committee since January 2007, he has not held a single hearing since he took the position. His excuse, too busy with campaign. He pressed the wrong button 6 times on Senate votes, another good "judgement". If you don't have the time to be responsible for a position you took, resign, don't let it ride for over a year LOL. If you push the wrong vote button 6 times, please don't press that red button wrong 6 times when you become the president. LOL

It's about time Obama is summoned to testify in court about Rezko.
The media is too shy to report Obama's wrong dealings with Rezko for 20 years.
Posted by: Lisaky | Mar 10, 2008 4:03:53 PM
Obama got money from Rezko. Rezko got money from Nadmi Auchi. Nadmi Auchi made his vast fortune from doing business with Saddam Hussein.
It is all true. And if Obama would be the nominee the Republicans will crush Obama.
This is only the beginning. This trial is expected to last 4-5 months. They are not even close to revealing the Nadhmi Auchi link.

The issues are not as simple as the Obama supporters would like every one else to believe. Mr.Rezko is a very corrupt political dealer who bulit very
unsafe buildings. Mr.Obama continued to write support letters for this individual and curried favors from this individual small and big ones including large sums of campaign money and assistance in buying house. Mr.Rezko is not an acquaintance but a very close ally of Obama. Mr.Obama is lying through is teeth!!!
Posted by: mike | Mar 10, 2008 4:15:42 PM
Let Oh-Bama and Michelle move into one of those slum like buildings that Obama never bothered to get fixed for all those poor people in his district Instead of being ashamed of America --- Michelle should be ashamed of her DO-NOTHING husband who "folds like a wet suit." when theres problems to solve- according to Senator Lindsay Graham and the New York Times. . Alot of us are not on the Piped Pipers bandwagon..
Posted by: jimbo | Mar 10, 2008 4:20:23 PM
What's worse is that Rezko was being bankrolled by a British/Iraqi guy named Nadhmi Auchi (who had ties to Sadamm Hussein). He made a huge money transaction to Rezko just before the questionable house deal involving Obama. Do a search on Auchi. Wait until this guy's name comes up in the Rezko trial.

I don't understand why big time politicians and celebs support Obama. He does not have appropriate experience to be a President of USA, yet. The answer is MONEY. They were bought by Obama and his friends, Rezko and sub-prime mortgage lenders.
Posted by: Lisaky | Mar 10, 2008 4:23:43 PM
I just read a post by a Clinton supporter that "this man (Obama) comes with too much baggage. How can we support him." Is this person a supporter of Hillary Clinton, you know, the one who served as Bill Clinton's co-president who proudly proclaims the "vetting" of her baggage? Here is the intellectual height Clinton needs all her supporters to reach and not exceed to have a prayer.
This is the Bush Justice Dept and the Attorney Generals left in it are the one's who did not lose their jobs for refusing to perform political prosecutions.
This is also Clinton the fighter's machine. I would lay money odds on any number that if Bush or Clinton actually had anything of Obama he would have been carted off before Rezko and the others and he would have been offered a deal quicker and better than any deal OJ's Vegas co-defendants got. LOL.

Never seen anyone so "GREEDY & SELFISH" more than clinton family over past 31yrs have been existing as a human which makes it so hard sometimes to sawllow thinking about their ways of getting the white house back like that property on penn ave belongs to them. Probably their thoughts on getting nomination will be better using tony rezko trial linking obama to the case will give the ulimate gift they're looking for obviously they're chasing wrong ambition period cause we're here when "Bill Clinton" lied under oath about sex scandal, white water & more definitely we'll end their careers this year.

Believe me, the republicans have a few more dump trucks of dirt, they have loaded up and waiting for the correct time for MR. OBAMA.
Posted by: Beck | Mar 10, 2008 4:55:04 PM
Lets just remember that Rezko has donated to a lot of Democrats as well as Republicans. Lets not just point the finger to Obama as many poiticians benefitted from this man.
This says it all:
Obama has not been accused of any wrongdoing in the Rezko case....
Obama has returned nearly $150,000 in political contributions from Rezko and his associates...
He's done nothing wrong here and he returned any money involving Rezko.

Heidi,
Don't forget his 'judgement' in hiring dopes like Samantha Power and Austen Goolsbee.
